Hi Sue,

Ashleigh still qualifies as a junior being (17 years old at the time of the tournament).

At the judges & reffs meeting in Thailand last year,
They changed the age from not more than 19 years to 17 & under.

If this is correct can you change her, & put Ange into the 51kg Div.

Cheers Ben

P.S Hows baby? (",)

Sorry this map isn't the best, but it gives you an indication of where to go, just follow the little red crosses.

Go up the road to the left of Viard Intermediate/College, there are Redden Fight Club signs from there on.

HI

Mel got you in the junior boys it now under 18 you can't turn 18 before the 26th of sept this year

its looking great see you all at the weigh in tomorrow.

Heres my latest info letter just incase you haven't recieved it

HI All
Remember to bring:
• Mouthguard and your fight gear (all other gear provided)
• Current bloods
• A passport sized photo (you can cut up a photo you have)
• $30 to register (or $20 to re-register – this means bring your fighters book! Or pay $30 for a new one)
• Clubs must pay annual registration $70
• All clubs will need to provide 1 judge or referee

The venue - Rex's gym in Porirua.
Take the Porirua turn off, go left across the bridge towards north city plaza, take first left at Kenepuru drive, then you will see a Mobil gas station, go right at lower main drive, follow it up and veer right onto upper main drive, its on your first left, it will be sign posted.
The date start Fri 25th April (ANZAC day) the fights sat (all day and night) 26th April, the party night of the 26th April :)

The weigh in, Dr's check and registration will start at 3 pm and run until 6pm (also held at Rex's gym)
Weigh in on sat morning – yes at 7 am – 8 am you can’t just make the weight for fri night!!!!!!!

Do not turn up at 6pm and expect to be weighed in this is a finish time!!!

The draw will be held at 6.30pm
AGM – to be held at the gym straight after the draw 7.30pm (Friday)

All prelim fights will be held during the day at the above venue between 10 am and 4 pm
Food avail at the venue – thanks REX
All finals will be held in the evening without pads for the majority of them. Starting at 6pm

All juniors must be under 17 as at the 26th Sept 08 or under 14 as at 26th sept for the even junior juniors.

There are still two Divisions for men 17 years as at the 26th Sept +

Division A over ten fights cannot be currently ranked in the top ten at a professional stadium or professional competition (this basically only rules out Ray and Shane)

Division B ten fights and under these are ten full fights as a senior only

Females open division only

The weight divs - you must weigh in under these weights at the weigh in as well as on the sat morning (7.00am - 8.00 am only)

49, 51, 54, , 57, 60, 63.5, 67, 71, 75, 81, 86, 91, 91+
Travel and accom you need to sort this out yourselves. However, Rex has a couple of rooms at his extremely well equipped gym that you can use Marae style there are only 6 mattresses so you will need to bring something to sleep on and in. The venue (gym) is opposite the train station and next to the hospital.
This means you can stay in town there are some excellent backpackers at cheap rates right in the middle of Wellington Rex is also in the process of finding a bar in town to hold the post fight gathering so you can train out and back if this idea suits you.
Travel - you will need to find your own way there. There being porirua/wellington.

Division winners will be asked to place a deposit of $200 per person to secure their place on the team. This deposit is non refundable and is due on the night as there is less than5 months until we will depart for Korea possibly via Thailand for a weeks training and acclimatisation on the way over flights will need to be booked ASAP and uniforms organised. The deposit is used for this purpose and is the reason it is non refundable. It is used for non-refundable payments.

If you are not prepared to place this deposit you will forfeit your place to the person you have just beaten. (I.e. the second place winner)

U need to bring your IFMA/WMC fighters book, current blood results, re-registration form, A photocopy of you passport (this is very important) as well as payment for new registration $30 or re-registration $20, normal fighters gear - we will supply all pads (not groin nor mouth guards)

UR club must be registered there will be forms there for you/your trainer to fill in. Cost $70 per year - please ensure you/your trainer has a list of all the clubs members and current fighters and their records and titles. Registration is annual i.e. per year Easter is the date all registrations run until.

2008 world champs now a part of the Olympic movement yes we are a part of this years Olympic movement we might not be in the main Olympic event but we are a part of subsidiary games and will be recognised by the IOC - a huge step for our sport.

26 Sept - 2nd Oct Bursan Korea

Wow - the WMC nationals were great!

Just came back from the night time fights and it was a great night of fights. I am sure someone will post all the fights but to me the best fight of the night and my pick of fight of the year was between Chris Stevens of Harleys and Steve Price from strike Force. With 3 eight counts in the fight - Chris gave Steve one in round one and then Steve returned the favour in rounds 2 and 3.

I would pay to see that as a rematch!

Cheers
Mark

I agree mark , chris vs steven pipe was the best fight I have seen for a long time.
both boys put it all on the line and were both out on there feet on more than one occasion in the fight. I will try get a hold of this fight on dvd and upload it to youtube as it was war.
There were a heap of other great finals , and everybody fought really well. I was really surprised with the young talent coming up the ranks and we definatly saw some future champions last night.
Nato vs bryce baron was another war with brice taking it on a close points decision. Natos timing was great hammering bryce on the outside with elbows galore and good front kicks. there was a missed 8 count in round 2 with nato dropping bryce with punches but brice came back to hang on in the grapple and out work nato with knees. awesome fight cant wait to see a rematch.
johnny simpson also had a good even fight with easton nicolas , easton coming away with a points decision.
sue will post other results soon.

Nato's countering was simply awesome, I noticed the missed 8 count also Rex, very unlucky for Nato.

That Chris Stevens VS Steven Pipe fight was all-out War! ...and I'd agree, it was the fight of the night for me also.

Congrats to all of those who won, and Big-Ups for the rest for stepping up.

Hey Rex thanks for hosting a great weekend. The friendly atmosphere and comradory of all the fighters was a great thing to part of.

I was very happy with the heart and skills shown by all the boys, Mel Prior, Steven Pipe and Harris Ishikawa, each of them developing there own individual style. We should have a copy of this fight up on our new website in a day or 2 www.strikeforcegym.co.nz, not sure about the quality so if you find a copy too Rex that would be cool.

Nato and Bryce was another great fight, Nato will be coming up to Auckland to fight on the next strikeforce promo 24th May so any Auckland fighters round 90kg 5+ fights give me a call.

Thank you to Sue Glassy, Ben Ahipene, Miriam Crouch, Chris Sampson for all their hard work in organising this event. Sue had her little 5 weeek old baby at the fights the whole time and he loved it, didnt cry once.

Off topic but - I just watched Aaron's fight with Jason Tramsek - what planet was the judge on that scored it 50-46 ?? ... you really need to turn the commentary off (to avoid Jason's Dad, Uncle and cousin applauding everything Tramsek threw and missing everything Aaron threw) to get a feel for the fight -very very close fight and Aaron really troubled him .. anyway off topic sorry for the hijack ,,, Nice website aaron.

Hey Rex i never use to be a fan of the padded muaythai fights but after the weekend i think it is a great way for young fighters to develop proper Muaythai technique. Id gladly host the nationals in Auckland next year but i think Taupo would be the ideal venue, half way for everybody.

Thanks Mike the website is a work in progress, and yeah i watched it with the comentary off too lol.

yeah in welly we are seeing a lot more elbow fights these days, but an option of elbows with elbow pads could be good for the young fellas, mind you most of the damage these days are done with knees to the head.
