THE LAST CHALLENGE

Our next event for the Casino Rooms in Rochester is now finalized for May 11th and I am very pleased with the bill we have to offer.

The LAST CHALLENGE applies to George Pattison who finally hangs up the gloves with his last fight at the show. Not wishing to go out on an easy one he will meet Mike ‘Mad Dog’ Morello from California. I look forward to hosting Mike and his family at the event. George has been a regular at my events for nearly 12 years now and has always been a quiet guy who lets his fighting do his talking for him, but it is my opinion that his achievements over the years, the fighters he has beaten and he has never dodged anyone offered to him, make him one of the very best full contact fighters of the past decade.

Chief support on the night is given to the Casino Rooms debut of Qasim ‘The Dream’ Nisar, widely considered to be the top professional prospect in the country and maybe the world. Qasim meets Andre Marcelino from Portugal and if anyone in the south has still not seen Qasim then you should come along to the show. The sort of hype attached to Qasim is still rare in our sport, but I don’t mind saying I believe he matches up to it and so I am very pleased to be welcoming him and trainer Neil Kelly to the Casino for the first time.

Other highlights will be Lee Whitfield v Andrew Tate in a professional fight, a international amateur fight between Rob Burbridge (TKO) and Andrew Morello (USA), an IKF Amateur Southern Area title fight plus England v Ireland.

Poster and full details to follow

Hi Mark, just read this thread. Will know more after this fight, but the plan is to hopfullyfight at both weights. Fight more probably at 82kg and drop down to 78kg for title opportunities once I am back into the swing of things... i.e. a rematch with Mick or after afew fights a shot at Mark Elwood.

Want to get placed in the 82kg group - hence why Andrew Tate is a good fight to take being at number 5. Will have to see what happens.

Lee

I had a fight for you at 78k is why I was asking. It was so long ago that we have one or two other things coming through now.

We stepped in to fight Nigel Thomas when Mick Crossland withdrew and we have a couple of fights in the pipeline to.

I just wanted to know for fututre reference.

I'm judging this show now and am sooooo looking forward to it. I am in Telford this week so I will drop in.

Cool - Look forward to seeing you Mark so we can catch up.

I am looking forward to Sunday too - the way Colin organises his show's are brilliant, I actually know everything that is going to happen... except for the result itself lol. Having so much organisation prior to the fight takes alot of stress away... who are you fighting, what weight, how many rounds, when weigh in is, etc?

If the show is only half as good as the planning and organisation gone into it, it is still going to be a cracker of a night. I just hope I do the business now and shake the rust off.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, much appreciated. Very pleased with the show, some really great fights. Nice to see people down at the Casino for the first time. lee & Dave Whitfield, Fran and John Zucala, Pete Richardson (nice haircut LOL)and Neil and the USKA crew who stayed right to the end to support the show and were a pleasure to deal with. Nice to meet Qasim's Mum and Dad who must be very proud of their son.

the Morello famly from USA were just a pleasure and privilige to have over. Great bunch of guys who I will work with again any time. They made a lot of friends with the way they conducted themselves for their entire stay.

OK, results:

George Pattison (Invicta) v Mike Morello (USA)
8 x 2 min rounds full contact
weight 69 kilos
REAL SHAME FOR GEORGE IN HIS RETIRMENT FIGHT AS HE LOST A UNAM POINTS DEC. BUT MIKE OUTWORKED HIM, SHUT HIM DOWN AND FOUGHT HIS FIGHT. GEORGE HAS BEEN A REAL CREDIT TO THE SPORT AND WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE FOR HIM TO HAVE WON HIS LAST ONE BUT ALL CREDIT TO MIKE.

Qasim Nisar (USKA) v Andre Marcellino (Portugal)
6 x 2 min rounds full contact
Weight 61.5 kilos
3RD RD TKO WIN FOR QASIM. POLISHED AS EVER, WENT THRU THE GEARS AND JUST TOO MUCH FOR A VERY GAME OPPONENT

5 x 2 min rounds full contact
For IKF Southern Area Amateur Welterweight title

WAYNE IS JUST THE TOUGHEST GUY, HE TOOK EVERYTHING TOM THRW AT HIM FOR THREE ROUNDS AND KEPT COMING BACK, BUT TOOK THE WIN AND LOOKED VERY GOOD DOING SO

Rob Burbridge (TKO) v Andrew Morello (USA)
3 x 2 min rounds full contact
Weight 78.5 kilos

Brilliant fight from Qas. No disrespect to his opponent but from his eyes he had given up by the end of round 1 and seemed to be appealing to his corner for inspiration from the start of round 2. Superbly executed victory - nice one Qas.

Two other really good fights - Tom Cunningham as mentioned by Pete and Jake Richards. (Sadly missed Louise's fight).

Congratulations also to Andrew Tate - unexpected but justified win over Lee.

Colin - great event, friendly atmosphere and military precision - sincere thanks for the invitation and hospitality.

Congratulations on the show colin, and also on ure skills at putting posters up hahaha

Shame for george to go out on loss, though as always sure he fort to the last bell, when i fort george i remember his constant workrate, so for Mike to out work him came as a surprise, and i bet was a good fight for the neutral

Hey Pete D, tried to get to the dressing room to see you last night, but the security weren't having any of it. Your boy showed big heart, and I was so pleased that his will and determination saw him through the five rounds. See you next time round.

The Mike Morrello v George Pattison fight was one for the purists. Speaking to Mike afterwards (what a great guy to) he said he did not fight his usual fight but dame with a game plan to fight inside with a variety of punches and kicks. He stuck to it and deserved his victory.

I thought that the T. Bob fight was close but he scored the cleaner techniques and more of his punches were on target. He looked very good on the night even though he does not really look like a fighter out of the ring.

The main fights speak for themselves really. Lee WHitfield got knocked down in the 1st with a great shot that he did really well to recover from at all. Then did not throw enough kicks so left himself with a mountain to climb points wise.

This was a great show with some truly great fights.

One last point. You can see the quality of some of these guys who are coming through the amateur ranks now. At this show (and I'm not naming names 'cause I dont want to put pressure on people) you could see 4 fighters who would go straight in the top ten as soon as the headguard comes off and could/should become champions in the very near future. You could see the progress being made on the amateur circuit and it is paying off. Be warned!

Great show!

Big thank you to Colin and his TKO team for great hospitality and looking after us from start to finish.
Qasim and Jake really enjoyed the experience and would jump at the chance of fighting in Kent again if offered. What a beautiful place.

Really pleased with the way they both fought and very happy with the results.

Unlucky to George but he could not have lost to a nicer guy in Mike Morello. In fact all of the American team were top people. Really nice and it was a pleasure meeting them,

Never got to see all the fights on the night but will be looking forward to the dvd to get to see some of the ones mentioned above that I heard were Stormers.

Prospect of the night with a very dominant performance Louise Orton. The female version of Qas only much much much prettier lol

I think this was Colin's best ever show and I am glad we have been part of it...every fight was well matched and action the whole way!
Agree with Mark for some of the Amateurs - top class already!

Morello v Pattison was "old school" Full Contact Karate/kickboxing, high work rate from begin to end, lots of tricks and pleasure to watch - Shame for George's retirement fight but nothing to be ashamed off, he did his best and that is all that counts.

Andrew did very well and as requested I think, he won the first round clear plus Lee did not kick enough times that first round...in the second round Andrew put Lee down twice and fairplay to him to come back from such hard shots, what a warrior.

I on the other hand expected Andrew to win as the fight with Sam Lawler last time was going very well untill Sam popped his shoulder and it was close against Luke Sines - on the other hand it is Andrew's 6th fight only now with no Amateur experience at all and in his 4 fights he fought Luke Sines, Scott Gibbson, Sam Lawler and Lee last night!
He just turned 20.

Just like to say thank youto Colin for having me on the show. Didn't get a chance to see any fights but heard good things from my supporters who watched them.

Gutted about my fight, first time back for awhile and at heavier weight (which felt good) but I came out completly blank... can't believe I didn't throw 8 kicks... just lost it somewhere and just wasn'tme. Nothing taken away from Andrew, he landed a nice shot which I was lucky to wobble back up from lol. Would be good to meet again this year.

I too would love to fight again on your show - it really was run spot on and done the way it should be.

Thanks again for all the positive comments. Lee, Neil, Amir, all welcome back anytime guys. Though Neil 'what a beautiful place'....we only showed you the nice bits LOL

As for the comments on the amateurs, I can only keep banging the drum on this subject. I have been proved 100% right I believe (having been inspired by the work of others) that this is the direction to go and the last two of my events have really seen my policy come to fruition with some outstanding amateur perfomances. It really amuses me that there are guys out there getting paid for fights who to be blunt would not last with some of my guys, but we are in it for the long run and as Mark has said watch out when some of them 'take off the headguard'.

DVD's and picture ready in 10 to 12 days time.

thanks Amir..To be honest I did match this show early due to the two main events so not a lot of space left at the moment...don't want to be going on til Monday mornin LOL....but things change as we know, and Barry v AAron would be a nice fight as well.

Amir, has Barry lost a little weight now then??? no longer at 72.5 ??
Amir Subasic
Posted: 2008-05-20 12:04:37

well he can fight at 72.5 kg as well but woalks arround with 70-71kg!

I'd rather Paul Douglas would have a rematch first with Aaron and then Barry as Barry was out for 1 year nearly - if possible of course?

I want Barry to have few 3x2' first!!!

Paul is fighting on the 22nd of June in Bethnal Green on Sean Toomeyes show in Thaiboxing, then 12th of July at the moment.

: )

P.S. Oh, and yes always forget to tell you and Carl - Warren Kirchmole is not active anymore.
