Top of the Bill:

World Title 70kg Max, Full Thai Rules, 5x3 mins

David Paquette (KO Gym) VS Cedric Muller (France)

This should be a cracker between two exciting fighters, who are known worldwide.
David Paquette has recently featured on the contender Asia series, where he was
given an unfair decision in many peoples eyes, so he is eager to show the London crowd he is back with a bang.
Cedric Muller was due to fight last weekend against Steven Wakeling, at Pain and Glory, but had to pull out with an injury and personal problems, but he has assured me he will be 100% ready for this one.

More top of the bill fights to follow.

Only 2 days to go. The fight card is one of the best i have put together in a long time, should be a cracker. Good luck to all the fighters. Dan Hope's fighter pulled out last night, I am so gutted for him, he was fighting Costas Doru from KO Bloodline gym, under MMA rules. He is my fighter and he has been training so hard for this, and now he has no fight. He is the most unlucky fighter I have ever known. Whenever he gets matched 85% of the time his oponents pull out, he is choked and so am I.

Cracking show, the boxers from Carlisle were looking good, nice style and technique but both got caught, just the way it goes sometimes but look good prospects for the future.
Judging was very consistent 16 bouts 15 of which were unanimous decisions round for round same points, the only split was the final bout Muller v Paquette which was very close, the 2 other judges went Mullers way by 1 point for his kicking to the body. I personally went Davids way by 1 point although he was challenging for the world title i feel he did just enough to take it from the champion with him being on the front foot in the later rounds and the French boxer looking tired. The deciding factor for me was Davids superior strength and workrate in the clinch, there were a lot of knees going in to the legs but the ones he landed to the body were clean and i think hurt Muller and upset his game. Muller managed to sweep davids legs away a few times but david did the same in return. A few more body kicks blocked by Paquette or stronger Clinchwork / more stamina from Muller would have made the bout a lot cleaner cut. Definitely a huge amount of work has been done by David whos clinchwork seems to have improved 10fold from what it was on the contender and looked to have much better balance and strength. Nice atmosphere and thank you to Sean for looking after us. There were a few other highlights some big punch KO's and Troy was sporting a nice 1970s porno tash. Good to catch up with Diablo boys, Mish is such a nice lad, also saw Kieran K there, and Dan Green in the same building so even though they look so alike they are not actually the same person. ;-)

great event and good matchmaking as the medics basically spent the whole day watching some good fights, glad out boys did well, Pawel looked calm and composed over a tough kicking opponent and Aleks unlucky to not be able to really get inside as much as he would have liked with a much taller and more experienced opponent from KO... good support and some great entrance music - waterloo was porb the winner but some very good competition

thought the judging/reffing very good and consistant which makes for a great day ... prob my only comment / improvement / point would be to make the 3 rounders 5 rounders (of 1.5 minutes) as feel this makes for a more Thai style fight but thats in no way critical of any of the performances of the chaps on the 3 rounders...just a personal preference....

cant wait for the next show....

wow what a show!! everyone from Portsmouth really enjoyed it Sean, not least John's victory! what a fight, full credit to both guys, Mike was a fantastic opponent with great technique. We'd planned a more technical and measured fight... ha, the first round from Mike soon put paid to that idea and it was back to plan B! pressure, pressure, pressure and eventually it worked... I always knew it would as no one's tougher than John! Anyway there's so much more to come from John so i'm looking to get him more fights, i've asked Master Sken to put him on his but he hasn't got his show confirmed yet but that will be late Sept so looking for something around early August, please let me know if anyone can help. Once again many thanks to Sean for a great show and all the fighters for making it so, good luck to you all in your future fights.. everyone at Portsmouth Sitnarong.

Sawatdee Khrup!

Excellent show Sean, quality fights and a high standard which made my debut reffing a little easier! Well done to all fighters and their respective Kru's and teams.

good reffing shaun I thought.. cant think which fight it was but the one where the lad took a count and looked wobbly but you allowed him to continue a moment..he got pinned in the corner and then you jumped in and stopped it. Good that the lad had a chance to come back but stopped it as soon as it was apparent he could possibly be in trouble...thought it very fair but equally very 'safe' also

i think shaun did an excellent job first time out, his timing breaking the clinch was spot on, a little more experience he will grow in confidence and command the ring more like ryan does now there were an odd few minor things but the boxers safety was never at risk and the refereeing was of thai standard, i would definitely continue to recommend shaun as a referee but make sure he brings a spare pair of trousers as he split his and goes commando his old boy popped out good job lawrence the mc had a spare pair, you can always count on the old ones to not trust their Incontinence and lack of voluntary control of excretory functions! haha

Well done to everyone involved in the show, sounded a great show. Particularly very well done to Shaun, a number of people (including Liam above)said you did a very good job refereeing mate.

Sawatdee Khrup

Many thanks for your kind comments gentlemen and yes Liam I agree there were one or two areas that need improving as far as I am concerned and hopefully this will come in time. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Kru Tony Myers for his training regarding both refereeing and Judging, and highly recommend anyone who wishes to persue this area of our sport to attend his courses/workshops.
Liam many thanks for your recommendations, much appreciated, and yes my pants did split on my debut night and thank you for pointing out that my 'old man' 'popped out'!!! I would normally not give it a second thought but as you say the fighters safety is of paramount importance and I was concerned that they might trip over it!!!
