Ive heard Luke Turner won round 1 K.O and Ben lewis and his opponent had the fight stopped because the ring was too small and they fell out of it twice or something :s Kyle Fella also won by 2nd round stoppage and Jonno beat George in a split decision and apparantly fight of the night so far.

sorry but there the only ones i know yet.

Sam Shambley Vs Billy Hatton was an absolute war!
Class fight both young lads should be proud of what they did in the ring!
It went to majority decision to Sam Shambley.

Im looking forward to seeing the young talent Billy Hatton in sheffield in a few weeks!!!

All in all this was one of the best shows i have been to in ages, every fight was very entertaining.

Luke Turner broke Brett Healy's ribs with a knee and Kyle Fella also stopped Ryan Lowney with knees. Ryan lowney Vs Kyle Fella was an excellent exchange with a lot of showboating and goading, an excellent display from yet another 2 very young and very talented fighters.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and also to the promoters for putting together such a great card.

billy hatton vs sam shambley was awesome. from my point of view it could have gone either way without many complaints to be honest. i think the deciding factor was probably sams aggression. both lads are extremely hard and i wunt f*ck with either of em. What a great fight this was.

also id like to say how well the fighters wer matched up nobody getting any easy rides like ya see sometimes, every 1 was matched evenly.

brilliant show, i took a couple of mates with me and ther buzzing for the next show now.

great show

Was an excellent show. Not sure about the scoring for Sam and Billy's fight, as I had Billy winning and scoring well throughout the fight with beautifully timed knees and body kicks. First time I'd seen Billy fight and was impressed.

Ryan and Kyle was shaping up to be a cracker. Ryan was taller and seemed to be catching Kyle with ease in the first round. Kyle just seemed off his game until he found his distance in the second and just went to town!

Luke was clincal against a very game Matt (who stood in at 24 hours notice due to Rob Doyle not being able to fly over from Ireland). Awesome knee to finish it and I swear you could hear Matt's rib crack.

Cadden was ruthless. Never stepped up out of first gear and controlled the fight from the ring entrance.

Not sure about the Oceana as a venue though, prefer the Town Hall tbh. Just felt a bit claustrophobic. That coupled with the bottom feeding window lickers who insisted in trying to stand in front of our chairs for 70% of the night..:)

Well done to all involved again last night, great show. Some of the the talent on show, especially from the younger fighters was outstanding!

Sam v Billy was a majority decision, the two judges who gave it to Sam basically did because Billy was "blowing out of arse" from the third round onwards, one of the indications used to determine effect. It was a difficult fight to judge.

Johnno v George was amazing and again very difficult to judge, normally when you are reffing you can still tell who is winning but I had no idea in this fight it was so tit for tat. I guessed it was even going into the last round, at the start of the round George pulled ahead, only for Johnno to come back big at the end of the round, one judge had it a draw with two giving it by just one point to Johnno.

Congrats again

Show was MINT and the venue was brilliant much better than our usual venue for small shows (eastend park) and every fight was wicked, good work Richard.

Was unfortunate luke turners opponent rob Doyle couldn't make it over due to all the planes been canceled at the mo cause he has been training hard and was ready for it but fair play to him he got in and stuck to the job at hand and won with a scandal ko! Props to his opponent who took the fight on 24hours notice and I hope he is ok cause it was the worst ko I've seen in a while.

Kyle fella showed again just how good he is, fought 3kgs heavier against a natural 60kg fighter who was already 2kg heavier than him at the weigh in and he didn't let any of it get to him, a shaky first round but it was his first fight in a year so a bit of ring rust but round 2 listened to what we had said and dismantaled Ryan and showed how strong he is even at that weight, Kyles a 56-57 fighter and has misses it the last year and loved last night and can't wait to get in again but at his actual fight weight.

Fight of the night was George and jonno plain and simple there both idiots and rock hard and I loves watching it, all even going into last but jonno fair play to him pushed a tired George back to take it by a round well done mate. Jonno and brad Stanton from hanuman would be a belter to watch I reckon?!

Well done all our guys espeicially twist and luke imeson, like only his second fight you'd never have known, and twist only been training for 4 months both put in great performances no matter of the result.

And well done Cadden on a good win for ya, nice work.

Thanks to everyone for their support on this show. This was a new venue for us and was fantastic. Great atmosphere and the staff are used to running boxing and MMA shows so knew what they were doing. The screens all over the venue showing the action really added to it as well. Interestingly a few iof the staff who have worked on the MMA and boxing said that Muay Thai was far better and more exciting and they loved it.

Just to clarify this is not INSTEAD of Leeds Town Hall, we will be there again on 26 June its just a smaller venue where we can put on Novice and B class shows.

Thanks to all the gyms and trainers who were a dream to work with - very professional and easy. All the fighters were really well prepared and the skill level is so much higher than ever before in the UK. Even 1 fight novices looked like experienced pro's. I definately think that the 5x1.5 format helps with this.

There were some superb fights - Kyle v Ryan and George v Jonno stood out for me for excitement but Luke Turner has improved massively the last few months and looked clincal and Cadden was v strong and dominated the ring showing his experience.

Thanks to Paul Hennessy for pulling it out of the bag (as usual) and rematching Luke last minute and special thanks to Brett Healy for stepping in.

All the bouts otherwise went ahead as scheduled which is testament to the professionalism of the gyms and fighters in no last minute pullouts or changes. The only one to let us down was MMA Academy in Liverpool trainer Pete Davis who has been hard to contact all the way through, not responded to emails, didn't read my emails properly and failed to communicate with me. He informed me that his fighter couldn't make the weight, THE DAY BEFORE the show having not responded to anything for a couple of weeks, was told they could have and extra 4kg (yes 4kg) but didn't even have the courtesy to respond, just didn't turn up despite 5 texts, 2 emails and a voice message. Don't deal with this gym or trainer, I certainly won't ever again.

Apologies to Stephen Oldman at East Riding TB and his fighter Andy Sims who were let down by these cowboys.

We worked with the UKMF on this show and Louis Mescha and Dave Croft were present as officials. They worked hard and made it easy for us as promoters and made sure all fighters were licenced and insures with up to date records in theor licence books. Definately the way forward in this sport and hopefully with the massive improvement in quality of fighters and promotions the beginning of bringing Muay Thai under a single banner and bigger and better things to come.

As you know Paul Hennessy has done great things with the ISKA lately and its definately a big step forward for our sport for these 2 bodies to be working together.

A final thanks to all the Bad Company Team who helped with set up, cornering, training the fighters etc. Liam Harrison, Andy Howson, Davy Mac, Jordan Watson and James France in the corner, Jo McGourty, Julian Presley and Tom Bird helping with set up, and of course all our fighters.

Posted: 2010-04-19 14:12:01
I'd like to echo Tony - should have said a massive well done to Jonno on a well seserved win. Jonno and his Dad are two of the nicest guys in the sport and Jonno is good mates with our guys. He's taken on anyone put in front of him and always put on great performances despite often giving away experience. I've never seen Jonno in a dull fight and he's a quality fighter. He's lost his last few but I've said for a while that the way he trains and fights it would turn round for him. It definately did this time I'm just sorry it was my fighter that he did it with! Shows what guts, determination and never ever giving up can do.
Mr Smith
Posted: 2010-04-19 14:15:15
George was wicked too - it was a real tear up. George v Brad Stanton, George v Jonno,Kyle v Jonno, Jonno v Simon Audley are some of the most exciting fights I've seen in recent years and there are some great potential matches and rematches there.

A final one - its hard saying thankyou's - you always forget somebody. The judging and refereeing was superb - Darren and Maxine Phillips and team are superb officials - not one decision was disputed, nearly every one was unanimous and Darrens refereeing was spot on. His decision to stop Ben Lewis's fight was quite correct and every dcison made was firm and fair and had the safety of the boxers first and foremost.

This is another reason why the standard is going up in the UK - judging and refereeing has improved and we are all singing the same tune. This is down to Tony Myers pioneering work.

The venue used to be Ritzy where we promoted in the '90's. I both myself and Lisa Houghton Smith fought there a few times.

I think it might have been Tiffanys before that.

Cracking show Richard, very good fights.Thought Luke Kennedy v Mark Price was a cracking fight and too close for comfort until the standing count.

By the way i dont think the venue was either. Ritzys which was Tiffanys years ago is much higher up in the middle of the merrion centre. Oceana over looks the corner brand new venue.

I won't argue with your far superior knowledge of the drinking establishments of Leeds mate.

Sounds a great show as usual. Thank you for the kind words Richard. I agree with totally that Darren, Maxine, Rob, Dave etc, are excellent officials. I also agree that officiating is improving and fights are getting better technically all the time - consistent application of scoring criteria is essential for that to continue.

Speaking informally to some fighters and coaches, it is evident that some people feel that judging is biased towards particular gyms. I actually agree that certain gyms seem to be judged more favourably...but that is not because the judges are biased but because the gyms who do well have coaches and fighters who understand the rules and scoring criteria. I would suggest that any coaches who feel they are getting a rough deal (at least on the bigger show who use good officials) should consider speaking to coaches who do understand scoring or alternatively should attend a course. I think that the better judges in the UK are amongst the fairest in the world and also some of the most competent outside of Thailand.

I'd have to agree with Tony there. I've had coaches say to me that we seem to favour certain gyms and they have no idea how to win with us judging! To which I've said attend one of Tony's courses and apply the criterea in your training.

we've always been prepared to sit and explaina decision we have made and I've ofered numerous times to sit throug dvd's of fights and say what is and what is not scoring. Funnily enough non e of these gyms who "don't know how to win with us judging" have ever taken me up on this offer

Judges over here now defo up there with the best in the world IMO, just wish 1 of you 2 had been with me judging correctly in LA a few weeks back :,( idiots.

Every decision was spot on again on Sunday and darrens reffing bang on, especially in ben lewis's fight as mentioned.

I'm still buzzing about Kyles fight I loved it. He is gunna be top fooking class if he dedicates himself a bit more.
