still a "risky " question to ask mescho!!!!!!!without moving it !!

Posted: 2010-03-08 01:09:54
thanks Mescho. dont know how it might have looked if I had asked that Question. lol. Amy has an abundance of talent for her young years and relatively shorttime of training, yes , her name is out there, and no we are not getting much response, its a pity that she is going to have to wade in at the deep end just to be active and not get the proper "apprenticeship "afforded to other fighters, how can she be expected to gain the experience needed for a future champion when not getting the chance to fight. At 49k she has already had to take fights in the 52k division , or get nothing, not that im happy to give the weight away but its been that or nothing, always a risk that most coaches wont take.We got a couple of tuffies lined up in the next few months and many thanks to those concerned for the opportunity but Amy is keen ,willing and able and given the chance to shine , Im sure she will show what a star she can be. or am i just a little bit prejudiced . Lol

I can match her but wont be til after June as girl is studying for degree and cannot commit to training for any fights at the moment. She has had to decline 2 fights because of this already. Keep in touch and the match can me made,no problem.B class. 5x2 mins

Amy is so strong and very talent for her age and time in the sport the fight craig neild is talkin about would be ace, pam is also very strong and very talented wat a good match that would be ...

Just my opinion that's all but amy could fight michelle newall with a couple of fights under her belt !!!

Im not sure how old Amy is but I guess from some of the threads that she is under 18? I think the problem is that for us older girls getting in the ring with someone young enough to be your child causes some problems. Personally I would never fight anyone under the age of 18, only because I do not agree with head contact under this age. I have done some research on the consequences of this (though it is all in boxing i admit) and would be unable to justify to myself anyone of this age doing head contact. Of course it is everyones personal choice and im not suggesting that a coach would put a fighter at risk however I personally could not perform knowing that I was fighting a child.

i agree that should be a great fight frrom what i have heard., are they the same weight? I thought Iman was a bit bigger or has Amy moved up in weight?
krab
Posted: 2010-03-08 16:35:34
hey Rachel, did you not fight on Master As last show? Amy fought on that and no offence meant but you can ask Jill if it was like fighting a child. people develop at different rates ,physically and mentally. If i didnt think that Amy wasnt ready for adult competition then she wouldnt have been doing it ,simple as that. seems like Iman and Amy are in the same boat, two talented teenagers who struggle to get opponants, should be a good one.
btw, scots law makes Amy an adult at 16.

i've only seen Amy's fight online and she looks superb but Iman will be a big test for her. just my opinion, but i think Iman is probably one of the best female fighters in the world and give it a couple more years and she will be beating girls her own age and girls much older, what weight is the fight at?
it will be a fantastic fight though, both extremely talented and the age thing doesn't come into it as they are the same age. what about Christi Campbell v Amy too?
krab
Posted: 2010-03-09 00:49:41
totally agree. Amy is going in as the underdog in terms of experience and once again having to give weight away. Ive agreed with Mark for Iman to drop to 52kwhich is abig ask for them and those who know me know Im not a big fan on cutting weight.especially some of the ridiculous amounts that some fighters go to (sorry guys, pick on someone your own size , lol ) unfortunately I think that Christi is just too big right now (no offence ) but defo one for the future if we can get Amy a bit bigger, ( we are trying )

hey Craig, would Pam be ready for ladykillers ? june 20th, if so get in touch with Tricia . cheers. Oh and Rachel, on the head contact thing, yes studies have been done on western boxing where the head is the primary target and cannot be reasonably compared to MT especially now as we all progress towards actual Thai scoring criteria , however nobody goes in to our sport without realising the element of risk that is ever present. just my opinion.
chillibulldog
Posted: 2010-03-09 02:27:16
Unsure she will be ready for Ladykillers as would need 8 weeks training and that would be the time of her final exams.
In reality, probably take fights from July onwards. Will be having another show I will be involved in around july/aug time, so will look at the match then if thats ok?

Amy and Iman are gettin it on at Simon Crockfords show in Leeds on 20th, Amy has had 16 fights in all (not for the want of trying ) but still not bad for training less than 4 years. sorry Christi ,but we are pushing our luck at 52k,Amy would need a growth spurt lol, yea its nice chatting to everyone, but, doesnt seem to be helping Mescho get her a match for his show, 14 May. YET ????

Hi
Appologies if I offended anyone, I wasnt suggesting that any trainer would put a fighter into the ring when they were not ready to compete, my thought was a purely personal one, in that it would affect my mindset knowing the age of someone if they were still very young.

no offence taken Rachael,on my personal note, two fighters step into the ring, (fair/ sensible, match ) age should not come into it, you are in there to win.

These two girls fought with fantastic muay thai ability and style and were certainly a crdit to their respective gyms.

Def worth a re match with a title to go for IMO

Good luck to both girls in their fighting careers

Yes, she is too risky to fight unfortunitly, sounds like a great fight with Iman and above Amy's ideal weight! Already tough to match and only going to get worse! :(

a picture speaks a thousand words-actions speak louder than words. I echo liams sentiments in his last post and this promoter is trying desperatly to put her on . Come on, whats the worse that could happen ?(not going to finish that ). . . A fighting sport or a sport for fighters ? whatever way you want to look at it, theres got to be somebody wants it.

hi guys,
i think iv forwared all the people who have posted on this page an email but i will copy here too incase ive missed anyone...

My names Mescho dunko from M-MAG kirkintilloch, north glasgow

Iam holding a small fund raising show of around 300 people in order to raise money for our gym and as i have noticed you all have posted comments on AX RE; 50kg fighters/match for Amy Pirnie, i was hoping by sending you all this e mail we could finally get Amy matched @ around 50kg C/B class??? day before weigh in

The show is on friday the 14th MAY, we will cover all expenses for travel ie flights, transfers or petrol money, put the fighter and corner up in hotel for 2 nights B/B, pay the fighter £100 and corner £100 for expenses.

Theres no two ways about it Amy is a great little fighter, she is still young(17 at show date), but surely there must be a match for her???

so guys if you have / know someone who can match this fight could you get back to me ASAP! any help in this would be very much appreciated

thanks
mescho
