Bolton Visits North America :-)
and To Meat Mike Miles and Team ! it will be an Honour !
p.s whats the time difference with U.K. ? cheers
You will be in Calgary which is Mountain Time... I want to say 8 hours behind UK ???
I've not long returned from a great holiday to this part of Canada. Calgary is 7 hours behind the UK. Make sure you take warm clothes this time of year as the weather can change quickly!
Just out of interest how big is the Kickboxing scene in this part of Canada? I only ask as I am considering taking a year out and doing a working holiday to this region, if I do decide to do this I would like to continue training. Kickboxing rather tha Muay Thai is my interest.
CAKMA and Mike Miles usually have 4 shows a year. There is of course Mike Miles gym which is a great training facility and a some other martial arts gyms. Red Deer, Edmonton, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge also have some decent gyms to train at.
Yes bring some warm clothes Sandy, you never really can tell what he weather will do. Maybe even plan a few days after the fights to see the Majestic Rocky Mountains... What fighters are you bringing and to fight whom??
hahahaha Like Sunny Bolton then.... cold lol cheers

Misty comes from a well respected name of Canadian cowboys. Her family is well known in the rodeo circuit (specifically in Chuckwagon Racing). Her nickname 'Magic' was given to her by her coach Ajarn Mike Miles. Misty looks forward to the bout with Tapias. This amateur World Title bout is a major stepping stone in her career as she moves forward aggressively to eventually becoming a professional World Champion. 2010 is very busy for Misty who fights on the March 27th as the main event. She then travels to London in a major fight against one of the world's best female athletes from the UK. Another match is set up for her in June/July in Calgary. She then fights in the 1st SportAccord World Combat Games in August where a total of 88 of the best MuayThai athletes (11 divisions with the 8 best athletes from around the world in each division) will compete in Beijing China. Promoted by CAKMA and Mike Miles Muay Thai
Main Event - World MuayThai Title
Misty Kolozetti (Canada) vs. Elisabeth Tapias (Spain)
North American Muay Thai Champion
Misty Kolozetti stepped into the ring against Spanish and Caledonian Muay Thai Champion Elisabeth Tapias. Opening the bout Tapias was quick to press and move forward trying to intimidate Kolozetti. Starting off slowly, Kolozetti let the pressing take place for a little period of time. Kolozetti then started landing some hard punches which snapped the Spanish girl's head backwards hard. This brought some respect to the Canadian girl from Tapias. Rounds one to four had Kolozetti landing some very hard shots and Tapias trying to press but being forced backwards from the heavy blows. In the final round, Kolozetti finally opened up and delivered combinations that scored and frustrated Tapias. Kolozetti pressed forward throwing excellent combinations with focus and resolve. Tapias came to fight and delivered some good MuayThai technique and proved how tough she was. But the end of the bout, Misty Kolozetti was to walk away with a new title belt around her waist. Kolozetti was also to walk away with the Roy Lilley Best In Town Fighter Trophy.
Semi-Main Event - International Middleweight MuayThai Prestige Match
Peter Arbeau (Canada) vs. Javi Maez Fernandez (Spain)
Intercontinental Muay Thai Champion Peter Arbeau battled against Spanish IFMA Muay Thai Champion Javi Maez Fernandez. This bout was all set to be a pressure cooker. The bout opened with Fernandez looking confident and pressing Arbeau. The Spanish athlete demonstrated some very good MuayThai skills. As the two exchanged, Arbeau rose to the occasion handily nullifying Fernandez's clinch and knee attacks. Arbeau delivered and scored with some nice counter knee and elbow attacks. Closing in on the end of the round, Arbeau delivered a vicious left body hook to the liver and followed with a right roundhouse to the opposite side of the rib cage. Fernandez went down in agony and was counted out. Peter Arbeau won by 1st round KO at 1:59 of the first round.
Under Card
International Bouts
Hakeem Dawodu (Canada) vs. Jovan White (USA)
Hakeem Dawodu squared off against American Jovan White. The bout was supposed to be under Full MuayThai rules but was changed at the last moment (no elbow attacks but knees were allowed to the face) by the request of the American. The American athlete felt uncomfortable without his coach being present. White's coach could not make the trip at the last minute due to the fact his passport still was not ready. The UK's Sandy Holt stepped up and worked the White's corner. As the bout started, White came out quite aggressively. Dawodu looked very calm and measured his opponent. The two fell into a clinch and Dawodu locked onto White's neck and delivered a barrage of knees. White fought back delivering as many body punches and uppercuts as he could muster. Dawodu hung on in a tight and guarded clinch, delivering a multitude of knees to the Americans face, finally dropping him to the canvas. As the bout continued, Dawodu just calmly delivered scoring blows and forced himself back into the clinch with more vicious knees pummeling away at the body and head of White. Sensing a KO in the first round, Dawodu unleashed a series of punches but White covered and hung on well. In the second round, it was a repeat of the first with Dawodu unloading jumping knees from in the clinch to the head of White. As the knees hammered home, it was obvious that White was going to get hurt. Finally the referee waived the fight off after the 4th knockdown. Hakeem Dawodu was to win by 2nd round TKO.
Alana Dunbrack (Canada) vs. Emma Bragg (UK)
Alana Dunbrack looked across the ring to see what is now a constant in her fight career..., a significantly taller opponent. England's Emma Bragg looked very fit and was obviously ready to fight. Dunbrack fought one of her better battles in this fight but was still having a hard time reaching her opponent. When Dunbrack did score, instead of following it up, she would step back out. This worked to the English athletes advantage. Bragg was always trying to finish the exchanges and used her reach to her advantage. An entertaining fight but Bragg was to pull off the win and head back to her native England victorious.
Canada vs. Canada Bouts
Ari Markle (Calgary, Canada) vs. Nic Du Preez (Toronto, Canada)
Calgarian Ari Markle battled with Toronto's Nic Du Preez. The fight started off quite close. Du Preez opened with some kicks but was to immediately pounce to vicious elbow attacks. One did score and gave the Calgarian a cut above the right eye. Markle was to fight back but started to hesitate on pulling the trigger. Du Preez was almost always first off the line. By the third round, Markle seemed flat footed and was hesitating on attacking. This encouraged Du Preez to pressure forward for a KO, but he just could not find it. Nic Du Preez won by unanimous decision. Du Preez was to win the Roy Lilley Trophy of the event for the Best Visiting Athlete.
Allison Kavanagh (Calgary, Canada) vs. Yvonne Thich (Toronto, Canada)
This was a fast paced and very exciting bout. Both started off with nice kicks and exchanges. As the bout progressed through each round, it appeared that Kavanagh was initiating first and pressing with her combinations. Thich fought back gamely with some excellent kicks but Kavanagh was relentless. Allison Kavanagh's work ethic earned her the victory in this match by unanimous decision.
Mark MacKinnon (Calgary, Canada) vs. Brian Trinh (Toronto, Canada)
This bout opened with Thinh pressing forward and trying to land his right hand on the taller MacKinnon. A few landed which brought immediate respect from the Calgary athlete. In rounds two and three, MacKinnon decided he did not like getting punched and he used his roundhouse kick to the body and use very well placed teep's to keep Trinh at bay. Trinh fought back gamely but had a difficult time getting through the long kicks to score his right hand. A unanimous decision went to Mark MacKinnon.
Lucus Greer(Calgary, Canada) vs. Justin Damphouse(Toronto, Canada)
The opening bout of the evening. In the opening round Greer just did not seem to open up. Damphouse pressed and Greer retreated to a shell taking some huge punches. Greer made it out of the first round. In the second Greer started off pressing but soon resorted back to a shell position. It was at this point Damphouse threw a barrage of body kicks and finished with a knee to the body. Greer went down and the referee waived the fight off. Justin Damphouse won the bout by 2nd round TKO.
a BIG thankyou Ajarn Mike Miles Great Show and professionally done!
Thanks for the oppurtunity and great fight with your lady fighter! it was a tough test for Emma being less than half the fights that Alan dunbrack had and fighting in Thailand etc: Emma beeps only had 1 sort of International in Ireland a 3 rounder last year! more than half of her fights have been home town, so at the age of just 20 she was almost overwhelmed by the 4,500 mile trip! but she as all fighters did, and trained like she's never trained before for this Big test!It proved a worthy fight/ match ! and to win by unanimous points was only what we dreamed of ! Thankyou for Everything, Great Venue, Hotel and People of Calgary! Very Friendly, and great place! And you have good officials and assistants too ! Well done to you and all for a great show / fights !
We are Both, and All @ Bolton Thai Boxing Club, very pleased with the Win, but Moreso with the the Oppurtunity you gave us ! "THANKYOU"
