Best pads man you have worked with..
Simply just that, who is the best man /woman who has ever held the pads for you..
I have done 2 photoshoots at gyms this week & they were worlds apart ---
1st pads man was training a 6yr old for a demo this weekend.
2nd pads man training a fighter who should have fought on the next MSA M.E.N. SHOW..
MORE ON THAT LATER..
Pads people
Whos the best..
How valuble are they..
Do you need one ??
How many gyms dont have one ??
Who is the best...
Tony myers/ vinny shoreman/ my dad.
All diffrrent.
All great.
iv worked with loads but richard smith, Rajasak Sorvorapin, Watarachai Keawsamrit, Chanoy Pon Tawee and singdeang Kiatdee are my favourites
Matt Teasdale/Richard Smith/Chanoy and also Peadang (Nokweeds brother) is really good-really small but still fantastic!
Tony Myers, Yoknamchai Sit Aor, Sancherng Pinsinchai
It's being years now but Rocky Lawlor was brilliant on the pads, way ahead of his time.
i got taken apart by watarachai kaewsamrit today :) im lucky to be alive
john jarvis, attachi fairtex and telek fairtex.
Muay Boran & a few others
might remember legendary pad man Mr Best from Partington ,
Did the pads in the cellar of my pub THE GREYHOUND..
Remember him ...Nat Jacobs very good also..
Mr best and rocky lawlor def a blast from the past. And my pad men were ronnie green and master toddy New how to bring the best out in you. Which at the end of the day is what you need when doing the pads.. But top subject pete
also got to agree with daz n liam Rajasak Sorvorapin & watarachai kaewsamrit for me & in uk my best padmen are rick lewis n ma bro
serm damriram (jitti's bro)
Kay from WMC, hes too strong, really really good trainer.
Marius,hairy bloke,pat the roid,fat ginge,

Why the subject came up
I have done 2 photoshoots at gyms this week & they were worlds apart ---
1st pads man was Mr pete feeley who little jaimie had a private lesson with before his demo this weekend.
2nd pads man was Mr Dave Croft training Alix Abusin who should have fought on the next MSA M.E.N. SHOW..
I have seen both men "doing the pads " on plenty of other visits , its just that these visits made me realise how good these two fellas are..
great quote from Mr Croft..
"Master Sken taught me all I know , I have just adapted it a little "
both shoots in full are online...
let me know if you would like a photoshoot...

Chanoy Pon Tawee (Jittigym/Badco) and Dja (13 coins) are my 2 favorites, Chanoys style and ability to better ones technique with the slightest change is amazing and Dja's abilty to catch anything you threw at him, even if it wasnt what he had shown in the 1st place! had me in awe
also this last training cycle here at Badco, ive been padworked by alot of the fighters like Andy, Liam, Badger, Davy, Jordan, Edd and although everyone had a different style, i really enjoyed learning from everyone, thanks for everything guys xx
Mark Cannon, Vinnie Shoreman, and Yak the big b****rd who takes yod on the pads
Lennie Woodhall and Jobi fron Firewalker.
Think if you've been a padman at a pro boxing gym then you have a an extra string in your bow.
Bobby Rimmer , Brian Hughes ,Billy Graham , Oliver Harrison ( watch out for his young muaythai fighters comin though )..Bob Shannon all great probox pads men..
bobby Rimmer prob the best ive seen ( probox )
Pele Nathan and Tony Myers...MMA Randy Coture
Sorry but I would have to disagree with Billy Graham. Seen him with Hatton on the pads loads of times and not that impressed. Not saying he's a bad trainer but no where near the best pad man I've seen
He was brilliant mate till his hands got riddled with arthritis,,Hattons best time was under Bobby Rimmer on the pads.
this threads got ridiculous
Don't be like that Liam, say sorry to everyone inc Pat. Now leave it, let it lie, its over
James ''badger'' France is mint on the pads and Rajasak is pure evil..
Sagat Porntawee was great with me on the hand pads.
Michael Paszowski the best ive been on pads with.
Had loads of Pad Holders over the years but
Nugget in Brisbane works you the hardest and hits you the hardest!!!
watarachai kaewsamrit is good, beasted me last time at Jitty's.. revenge will be mine in July ;)
Got to go with everyone else rajasak and tony are quality, rajasak being the best clincher iv seen also.
rajasak clinch everytime.
I feel its a symbiosis.
When you can get in synch with your pad striker - which as a trainer you should strive to - then it all just flows and feels effortless.
When striking you need to feel confident in your pad man to enable yourself to flow.
When there is a "flow" like this movement becomes natural and learning is more intuitive.
I believe its a partnership wher the padman or coach leads.
Carrott or stick?? Im a carrotstick man myself - carrots to enthuse and encourage - stick to remind of errors and defence.
Osu!
David
Richard Smith, Duwao, Watratchai Kewsamrit, Rajasak (good but an awful, awful nasty man) Chanoy, Mr Deang. and Liams a real good padman too.
rajasak is awesome but i found serm better for me due to size, however for pure evilness rajasak is a legend
Master Toddy was the first real 'padman' that I studied to improve my padwork, thats why Pele, Ronnie green and Pete Feeley are so good, seen loads of padmen from boxing in this country and not impressed with any really. My time in Thailand showed me that most gyms have at least one really knowledgable padman
and really all this proves is the first is always the best for every one. that connection carries you and spurs you on to better.
i doubt there are any bad pad men. simply those not in tune with the fighter and those that are. unlike alot of gym owners i do not have guest trainers im the only one who holds pads for my guys. good or bad they represent me.
what is obvious is the respect a fighter gives a good pad man. this thread shows that quite clearly
I have been to Tahiland and had Watcharachia as my pad man for a few months, very good and techniqual. However I would say my coach and another fighter i train with push me more than any of the thais i have trained with, not saying Watcharachai wasnt good becuz he was awsume
I actually don't mind about being pushed but much prefer a pad man that stops and polishes things that you can't see but feel better about once sorted, I can hit a punch bag in my garage!
yeah exactly paul, i can push myself to the point of collapse with running or circuits nor sommat but you need someone to work you and pull you up and put you straight where your goin wrong
my favourite pad men have got to be watacharachai kaewsamrit, chanoy, liam harrison( who flings one hell of a cartwheel kick nearly took my head off) and robert burke x
The key to quality pad work is feedback!!! You can't learn if your not being taught
i think the key is the blance between teaching(talking or feedback) + pushing someone,as ive had some pad men that jst want a chat + try to tell you 2 much at once, when learning you can only learn one thing at a time then move on to the next, every pad session should have a theme to work on
also someone that works you on what you will do in the ring or have to change,no point in doing something or a combo you are never goina use
my fav was watacharachai
CHARLIE PARVIN by a long shot !! :)
Well summised above. Its not just a case of who can push you the hardest, but who can help you along the way and give you feedback. Although some guys may work at different paces (Serm/Rajasak for example), they both work you in different ways.
I suppose a good padman will tick all the boxes:
- Building combinations
- Timing
- Feedback
- Working counters (padwork is not one-way traffic)
A good padman should always leave you with a lesson, its just whether you are able to pick up on it.
I know a certain trainer who alot of people dont like doing pads with, but I get on well with him, as I have figured out what he wants me to do. He is not so much concerned with hitting the pads but footwork/balance inbetween.
The key is remaining a student, and always having someone to tell you where you are going wrong.....whether its telling you or showing you.
In Thailand the best guys I have had hold pads for me are Rajasak, Waterachai, Serm Damriram, Camron, Suphanoi and Mr Daeng. The hardest hitting, meanest padman has to be Chakar Sorvorapin.....he used to leather me! :) lol
In the UK, Richard Smith, Badger, Rajasak, Duwao, Mr Daeng and Chainoy
as said above by david eckersley my feeling is the same you get to know each other without calling combinations the pads are just there when you throw the technique, you know what is expected from each other…
as for pad men ~
Mr Daeng ace pad man nice fella & cos he was a short arse like me.
Chanoy technically perfect.
Kin was ace, fast sharp made you think loads.
Duwao i never had pads off but sparred with (enuf said about that i was embarresed by him LOL)
Dave Jackson great pad man stops and corrects things dead technical especially footwork\base\kicking. Liam Harrison got pads of him leading up to my last fight, don't know why but i was shocked after how good he was, probably because i normally spar and train with him rather than pads.
G.Master Sken had great pads back in the day of him when i first started out.
Chakar Sorvorapin i rememver him,he was good. is he still away elsewhere?
no think he was let out chris...he was nasty tho and jitti got sick of his behaviour and "kindly asked him to leave"
i was there when i went away, strange as i got on with really well. he really looked after me. but when out i did see a nasty side of him to others. was hard on the pads, remember black eyes and all sorts after a pad session..lol
yeah jitti had a right go at him once for being an idiot on the pads and battering people and he nearly started crying lol, he was good tho if you dropped your guard you payed for it big time, he trained for a fight once i hated it but loved it at the same time
defo made me a bit tuffer, i was there just to learn and had the same love hate feeling.
The bugger cauliflowered my ear! :)
He was slapping back with the left hook and once the pad stopped on my shou;lder but his hand slipped all the way through and punched me on the ear. It was ballooned the next day!
I worked with him pretty much everyday when I stayed there for 4-months.
Very tough...
