Well ya got me with that one. Never saw it coming either.
I never expected this fight to take place for reasons best forgot!
However its on and its gonna be explosive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know Dean was looking to get it on next year too!!!
Predictions????????????????????????
Qas late stoppage!!
This show is gonna be big... a lot went against us on last show and it was still awesome, and our first was brill too but our 1st attempt. Our 3rd will be bigger again having had the 2 big shows to learn from.
Congratulations Dave on getting this quality fight on, worthy of topping any bill, and further enhancing the fact that big time shows are back in the Midlands for sure.
Ah well I can sleep tonight lol.
Unleashed is gettin to be a regular Anglo Scottish battle!!
All good though love the Scottish lads they make a great night of it!!!
Hope you get the Allen brothers on Dave;-) there good for the spectator great to watch!!!!!
Cant see it Scott although aint seen Ronnie for a long time and no dought Lex has put some good habbits into his style!!! Just makes for a better fight!!!!!!!!!!
Look forward to it!!! Still going Qas late stoppage!!!!!!!
great fight! hopefully get matched up on the show aswel perhaps rob stevens?? . i think if qasim gets thru the first 3 rounds he will stop ronnie soon after that.
Just a quick courtesy reminder guys that hotel rooms will be extremely scarce in Telford on the weekend of this show. We have 20 rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn which is next door to the TIC and will be collating a list of all hotels/contact numbers/prices this week but if you're intent on coming PLEASE BOOK NOW!
There is also a Travelodge about 4 miles from the venue which started a special sale yesterday offering rooms at £32 per night but be quick as these won't last long!
good luck with the show, good to see some top fighters still wanting to fight other top fighters. I cant see anyone in UK beating Qas though, as ive said before!!!
Rob stevens V Alexander White would also make for a wicked fight!!!
Unfortunatley this thread has been hijacked by Brighton's worst ever fighter to enter a ring and the biggest idiot here on ax, Danny Washington thinks he knows better than most. This jealous 2 bit fighter whom i threw out of my gym several years ago, does nothing but cause trouble any way he can for Stacey. Stacey is a respectfull fighter and a great champion, Washington on the other hand is sly and deceitfull.
Dave, Thank you for the invitation for Stacey and myself to attend the show, we would love to be there providing we are not abroad. Well done again for getting this fight on
To anyone concerned, my last comment wasnt a a pop at anyone, i was merely stating its good to see two top fighters fighting each other, dont we all agree on that? and for the record i have have nothing against stacey personally. Its true steve and i dont get on, but i harbour no bad feelings towards stacey, and wish him all the best in whatever he does next.
Mike O'connor, what would you know! Check washington's post's and then tell me he is a gentleman. He has caused trouble here on ax not only for Stacey, but Jason Vassallo and Marty Cox jnr. You go tell them not to stress. Give respect and you will get it back.
Nothing to do with me, and have no vested interest in anything or anyone on this thread, But Mr Gosden is the instigator on this thread. Having read all above posts again and again, i can see no reference to Stacey, Jason Vassallo or Marty Cox Jnr, other than in the posts of Mr Gosden. Yet there is an accusation towards Dan to the contrary.
Why do you feel the need to spoil threads of such a positive nature, with nothing more than playground delinquent drivvle. Be adults and email each other or deal with it in person, or better still knock 10 bells out of each other for all I care. Start your own thread about each other if it makes you happy, just leave these threads for the subject matter that's relevant and grow up.
Apologies for the soap box Dave.
Good luck with what looks like another startling show to add to your growing portfolio.
Mike and Mark - please refer to my last post 6 posts up.
However you see it, you don't know - so it's best left.
The references Steve makes are referring to previous issues Mark that's why you dont see them.
Steve has said his piece Dan has responded which should be an end to it on this thread.
Neither of you are in a position to comment any further (although it's a free country & an open forum)because you don't know.
But it would be better to draw a line on your "opinions" if you want to see this thread back where it should be.
Best wishes Dave for another great event which I fully intend not to support as I can't get a win up there for my team :) x
apologies to white wolf and whitti, i honestly didnt intend any of this! Good luck with the show and sorry again for any offence caused to steve and/or stacey, what else can i say?
Many thanks for all the positive comments guys. Lee and I were, and indeed continue to strive to make these shows among the best in the UK which is achievable with your support.
Dan, many thanks for the apology and as Carl mentioned I hope we can ALL draw a line under what has happened in the past.
It's not so much what we need Dale it's more about who we'd like to work with. Drop us a line with who you'd like matched and we'll do our best mate - Jesters always welcome on UNLEASHED :-)
Hey Dave if the Allen brothers are coming down how about Allen v Kyle Williams?? I can never get the rite brother so not gonna try!!
If youre gonna supply red and blue gloves to co-ordinate as usual can you supply all fighters with Yellow foot pads as a sign of support for Jesters Fight Club re born 2009! lmao
Scott Allen v Kyle Williams is on this Saturday in Scotland... WKA World Title :) may be going up to watch Craig Bradford fight but seeing if any Eclipse supporters need lift to share petrol costs.
Hey guys when do tickets go on sale and when posters getting made and coming up here. ;-) Heard unleashed a great show and cant wait to be down your bit guys.
Much Respect
Ronnie'The Shark'Clark
Hi Ronnie. I'll drop you an email regarding the posters. Meanwhile we're really looking forward to welcoming you to Telford for what promises to be a spectacular fight and hopefully hoards of ardent Scottish supporters.
Just watched the DVD from UNLEASHED 2 as well Scott and I have to say the Scottish supporters were a very quiet lot. To be honest I don't think there are enough in the Clan to outshout the English support m8.
Well depens on what time they show it at it'll probily be early in the mornin like 3/4am, You'll needy get it sorted lol, get that holiday in to buy it or somthing lol
I know the TIC can't air satellite channels to the public Scott but I'll have a word with the Holiday Inn. Failing which we'll see if we can arrange a private viewing at a local pub willing to stay open all night
Ha. Woop Woop. We all want to see mayweather get beat ;-) just put a stop to his winning streak. :-p That be great will have to get into my emails. Oh. Remember that password again. Ha.
My fans normally make alot noise just not sure what they are shouting. ;-)
Dave ive just posted on another thread if you get Tyler v Sam with Qas v Ronnie then in the light of Qas's new entrance and Tylers entrance. With Ronnie and Sam's history of entrances I would like to put up a trophy sponsered by me for the best entrance;-)
ITS ALL ABOUT THE SHOW MY FREINDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS ALL ABOUT THE ENTRANCE!!!
Hi Ronnie nice to have finally met you at Newark, I suppose it is stating the obvious to say I am only one of many looking forward to your showdown with Qas. It would be good if you can bring the tartan army with you, and help create the atmosphere the fight deserves. I am in ore of Dave for the quality of the show he puts on, but if I had one thing to ask for on the Unleashed shows, it would be a bigger atmosphere to match the quality show that is the Unleashed Brand. As for the entrance guys, it's all a bit hyperthetical but should it happen, I am sure I could let my imagination run away with me, in an effort to enter into the spirit of the challenge.
Egos! NO
Merely giving big fights big atmosphere's, in an attempt to raise the enjoyment of F/C shows for the paying public.
Looks like I'm with you on that, once again Dean.
well said scotty boy get us all on the show n wed out shout the english all night and day ha.. tyler v sam wuld b another great pull off 4 the show and another fight that culd top any bill.. r
'get us all on the show n wed out shout the english all night and day' ... to be totally, utterly, ruthlessly honest guys I'd love to have you ALL on the show. Rivals v the World at UNLEASHED. Stewart you know where I am and the conversation we had earlier in the year :-)
are you haveing my mate steve freeman on again, try and get a good muay thai guy fighting a good kick boxer guy in a k1 fight again, its a nice bit of competition between the sports which im sure will bring in people that would normaly not be intrested in going to a kickboxing show, as long as i dont go to vegas for the second biggest fight in the world on this weekend, il be there mate.
We've asked for Steve (and have a match for him) but still awaiting an answer as Fran has a show scheduled for Feb 28. As for the K-1 we've got a great guy lined up from FC, just seeking an MT opponent under K-1 rules. We actually lost our proposed opponent earlier today but we're actively looking for a K-1 novice around 72-74kg.
Unleashed is already recognised as a top show from all corners and deservidely so. Quality camps and top fighters want to fight on Unleashed. Dave and Lee you are giving the midlands it's own Absolute Adrenalin. Credit to you!!!
The lads from north of the border though it has to be said are an integeril part as they bring an atmosphere and good banter;-)
Dave I'll put up the trophy and the prize money;-) We just need a name for it??
Any ideas?
Many thanks Dean. Lee and I genuinely appreciate the positive comments and I couldn't agree more about our Scottish bretherin.
Great to have Stewart and the lads plus Albert and Zander. As if that wasn't enough we've still got Ronnie and the legend Lex himself to look forward to and every one of these guys have been an absolute pleasure to deal with.
If anyone wadls at Newark when ronnie fought jamie lambert they will know about our noise ha. always make a good atmosphere :p as do Scott Sam and ryans fans so if all them are on could be a quiet night for English:p can't wait for this show.
HaHaHa... I remember the Jamie Lambert fight well... Ha... After the fight all i heard was the crowed shouting "WE WANT QASIM"... What a great atmosphere... I cant believe the Scottish lads going to England all the time and still always heard... How many fighters from England come up here though... :p Not alot that i remember but hope there is more in the future... ;) I find it hard when shows on in Scotland and nobody will fight me up here... :( Must be scared of my fans... Gotta keep them on a lead... Pack of animals... lol...
Just wanna second what me dad (white wolf) has said, we really appreciate the support, love having the scottish down and hope to raise the bar further and get the numbers hitting that 1k mark eventually.
Paul, how you doing mate? Yeh we will be looking to match one kickboxer in k1. We did have Harvey Harra v Jai Woodham on the last one coming from the two disciplines at a high level and was highly entertaining :)

Waine Turner world title fight in Dudley
Mick Crossland v Simon Sturlson

Ronnie doesnt really go for the spectacular he just wants to have a laugh with it really:P but maybe hell want this trophy, hes competitive. scotts are really good, gets everyone involved and the crowd go mad for it. !

That Is Of Course But The Paisley Team.. Ronnie's Been Unleashed And On The Way Back.. With The Ikf Belt Added To The Rack...:D
haha well we thought we better make some lyrics up for Qas dancing in video above :P Nah Cant wait and i see it as more of a poem, I Knew i should have listened in English Lessons.
Everyone thinks us scots are uneducated just read Jamie's last post and you will realise that it's true we are not very bright... We can't even organise a bus to come down to the fight... But hey let's look on the brightside it's sunny up here today and a week on Saturday the shark will be leaving Telford in the dark with a shiny new belt...
P.s Anyone know how long it takes to walk to Telford from Dundee haha
not to mention Ronnies diet of mcdonalds, burger king and kfc with a little bit of chip shops to put on weight and ends up at 69kg, like 9 days to loose like 6 kg haha, Dave can ronnie come down thursday morning with his skipping rope haha
It's ok jamie just spoke to Ronnie he's only gonna eat fruit and veg tomake the weight.. No juice just lactolose this week... Said he's off big macs anyway... I know he's raging with mcdonalds cause the just launched that cbo burger and he loves bacon and onions... Luckily there is no mcdonalds in Paisley so he should be fine....
Might need to weigh him in up in Paisley then lol.. There is no way he'll be able to drive pastthe big M. Up until this fight he had never had a mcdonalds but he needed to put on so much weight that he got addicted... Anyway good news for me know where I will be getting my dinner before the fight.... 9 days to go.. Can't wait....... Woop Woop Yeah!!!!!!
Not too exciting mate! Its £50 cash to help make it interesting!
Ive always been a bit of a showman and love the big entrances:-) I was a massive Naz fan.lol
Just hope the entrances dont upset Daves military timing on the night.lol
Just a week away like someone wouldn't know! heard on the grape vine of a couple of interesting matches in prospect, any chance of a full line up, just to get our mouths watering even more Dave.
I heard not only Qasim is on OBVIOUSLY! but so is Azad "The Wrath" Of Khan from USKA, now that is definately a bonus if that's true. Amazingly talented lad.
You might as well make that cheque payable to Qas! Iv heard in the grapevine that his 15 minute entrance has all the thrills with rappers and break dancers.I hope that Ronnie and Lex don't get too bored waiting lol
haha i dont think hed get bored waiting and extra 15 minutes, hes been waiting for 2 years:D and im not one for handing out tips to rappers but ronnie is going to be fired up in that ring, jump in front of him and goad him like alexander i think we could have a rapper sleeping haha , is there any bets on be lucky tote for that ha ?
You pay for tickets and get break dancers and rappers on top of kickboxing I'm so chuffed value for money that's what us scots want... The ring enterance sounds like it will last longer than the fight... Suppose qasim will need to show face... I'm voting ring enterance of the night to dean perks for getting in the ring and singing the flower of Scotland.... Ronnie's enterance is £25 minutes and involves strippers.... Stilt walkers.. Flame throwers..... And clowns don't ask he has a soft spot for clowns...
I dont know the words mate!lol
Will I need to know them? Only time will tell. Heard Ronnie looked good and very strong in his last fight. Spoke to someone today who was there.
Raises the expectancy though. One thing is guaranteed. THE best two fighters in that division are gonna give it there all and produce an explosive match up!!
Just hope the night is a good one and look forward to seeing (and hearing) you guys from north of the border.
Seeking last minute opponent for Murray Dadswell (Bai Lang) 84.5 to 87kg 3F 3W, extensive light con background still a relative FC novice. Sanctioned for IKF Midlands Area title. Any takers? Kevin Thompson, Chris Oxley, Spencer Peplow?

Realistic purses for Pro's, expenses for all fighters and good ticket commissions.
IKF Amateur International Bout between Howard Hogg (Cardiff) and Eric Daly (Galway Black Dragons) now confirmed. Really looking forward to this one - Howard to me is a hot prospect for the future and Eric a tough opponent.
That's another good fight that I will be looking forward to seeing. Both fighters Bern in the ring and beaten by Ronnie.. Should be a good fight both talented guys I'm going for eric daly on points
Dave - Still waiting to hear back from you Steve Salter is definately available for Murray. Please can you confirm all the details as soon as possible.
Thanks
Dean
Steve Salter v Phat Panda mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm interesting
Hows u Dean? Hope ur show went well. Had a bit of a crazy weekend so couldnt make it. Really wanted to see Jamie Bates aswell.
Well done to Regis and Mickey Blackburn. I love this blokes determination.lol
Sorry Dean - appreciate the offer but possibly a little too early for the Panda who's only had 3 fights. He's also now matched against a Scottish opponent but Steve could be an option in June if yourself Lee are agreeable.
Im convinced Ronnie and Qas are gonna give us a main event that will be talked about for a long time to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not to forget we have a pretty good undercard before we get to those two:-)
For the 74kg Pro have you tried Jason Curtis at KOKORO? He has Michael Warswick around that weight I think?? Not sure if he can take it at such short notice but might be worth a shot.
im guessing thats a no then:P is tyler coming up to scotland for a crack at sam? lex show 21st of may:d paisley town hall is great atmosphere as im sure dean sugden would you, love watching tyler fight and also sam:D
It's a real shame that no one wants to step in for this. It's a genuine amateur title fight on a great show against an opponent whose camp have already said they will give a guaranteed all expenses paid return in Ireland (and Pete Foley looks after you thats for sure) later in the year. All ranked fighters have been offered and yet no one wants it.
I don't see opportunities like this being given out every week and its a pity that this one looks like it will go unanswered.
Most of the amateur fighters are young,in training all the time and I would have thought there would be one prepared to take it.
not to worry, eric daly v howard hogg got confirmed, cant wait for that one, id pay the entry fee alone just to see ronnie v qasim , proberly biased opinion but this is going to be fight of the year... guarentee it.
Guys I'd really appreciate if someone would step up to the mark and take the 69.5kg title fight as my fighter Gary is bringing approx 20 supporters at a total cost to them of around €10,000 (flights, hotel, taxi to and from the airport, tickets, food, a few beers etc).
I've often helped out promoters in the past by taking fights on short notice because I make sure my fighters are always in reasonably good shape and ready for action if the phone rings.
I have a fighter going over tomorrow (whos paying his own way) with his gear in case he gets a fight if someone happens to pull out.
I promise any fighter with the balls to take it a return match in Ireland and they will be treated like kings.
Just to underline what Pete has said, just a couple of years ago I was in trouble on my show and at 3 days notice Pete stepped in with cathal manning to take a fight with Ashley Collins, even thou he had fought one week before and had at his own admittance been partaking in a beer or two (or 3 or 4 or 5). result was a great fight with Ashley taking a close win, but Cathal had proved he was a true fighter.(and 18 months later they had a return as well)
Is there really not one English gym with a fighter who can step in? Having 6 weeks notice is always nice, but this is a great opportunity, it's for a legit title and will bring more opportunities for the winner.
Be nice for all those guys from Ireland who are coming to support one of our shows not to be thinking they are wasting their time
WHY dont ikf find a fighter in there rankings to take the fight ?Who the number 1,2,3,4,5,6,6,7,8,9 they cant all be busy can they? Mind i do beleave a lot of fighter do not like to take a chance as they try to get up the ranking slowly picking each fight in the IKF
LOL at Mike O'Connor ... 'someone within the IKF' dont you think its time the third division players stepped up to the premier league instead of making countless excuses?
IKF Five Nations title bout -69.5kg
Gary Manogue (Galway Black Dragons) v Gareth Porter (Northern Ireland) An unexpected bonus with the highly rated Manogue - 8F 8W, (5xKO) meeting the WKA World Champion Porter who's previous wins have included the defeat of Sam Allan
Just picking up on the posts by Colin and Pete and I have to agree that I'm stunned we couldn't find any domestic takers (regardless of organisation) for this highly reputable fight and title opportunity even at short notice.
Today alone I've spent over 15 hours continually on the phone with virtually every call interupted by a text and every text interupted by a call - all to no avail. Sad that when we finally have secured a match it involves two guys travelling over here from Ireland and even sadder for the Irish supporters who have had to spend a small fortune for flights, airport transfers, hotels, tickets etc.
When UNLEASHED was launched its aim was to try and improve the current fight circuit by providing great facilities for the fighters and great events for the supporters. It's disappointing that after so much investment in terms of time and money that this fight has proven so hard to match and expensive to host - especially with so much support behind the show.
To our growing band of supporters however I would like to thank you for your enthusiasm and positivity. Without you guys these events simply wouldn't be possible and in this instance I hope the quality rather than quantity of the fight card provides you with a great night of entertainment.
Qasim Beg v Ronnie Clark
Gary Manogue v Gareth Porter
Eric daly v Howard Hogg
Chantelle Cameron v Danielle Kudmany
Azad Khan v Raffa Ali
Plus supporting card
This promises to be the best and most explosive UNLEASHED yet!
lol i d like to help a IKF SHOW again but were very busy in the 3rd at the momenet and ive loads on my plate with my own shows ? The point im trying to make is there most be some one in the top ten ikf at 69kg ?My boys arent ?Ive nothing againest IKF i always go to the bristol show as they support us but until we all work together this is wot happens but less in the 3rd? I TAKE MY FIGHTER ALL OVER THE PLACE TO SUPPORT MY ASSOCATION ? I wish u lucky finding one and feel for my celtic brothers
Thanks for all your efforts Dave - much appreciated and as a promoter myself, I know the pressure you were under.
Also big heads up to Gareth Porter & his coach my good friend Uel Murphy who I'm sure I'll be having a beer or two with over the weekend.
Hopefully we can have you accross to Ireland sometime soon Dave with some of your fighters.
Look forward to meeting you all tomorrow.
To be honest all this politics and so on can be saved for another thread, dave and lee have worked hard for this show and hes got a replacement fighter so all is fine and we dont have to discuss that bull ****..:) not long now. :D
A quick post before I get some sleep. Mike, I'm not sure what point your trying to make (and whats the LOL for?),but here's some thoughts.
There is no such thing as an 'IKF Fighter' and we don't find fighters from 'within the IKF'. The IKF does not actually have 'any fighters'. The IKF is not an 'association', we are a sanctioning body. The IKF sanctions events with promoters who wish to work within the guidelines that we have in place and they in turn are free to promote ANY fighter they wish to work with. The IKF amateur rankings are open to all amateur fighters, pure and simple and it is not dependant upon fighting on an IKF show to be ranked, only that you follow the generally accepted amateur code.
'Your fighters' are not in there?? well thats no one's fault but your own, we can only work when we have information. A quick look at the most recent results reported on the WRSA website lists its results in this way:
Emma Long V Hayley Dickenson TKO
Donna Brannon V Laura Ball Draw
Jim Carne V Adam Churchill Unanimous
Ryan Edwards V James Heeson TKO
Gareth Philcock V Danny Bull Majority
and so on and so on. How can anybody work with that? No weights, no durations, no clubs, no fight record, no amateur or pro, etc etc.
You want your fighers ranked then put some structure in place and give out some proper information.
'but until we all work together this is wot happens;...Well Mike we are actually working together, the major organisations continue to work together on all sorts of issues for the betterment of the sport.
Back to thread...Well done Dave, I know of the hard work you have had for the last week and its paid off. The line up is superb and I look forward to another great night in Telford
I just cant beleave that no in IKF rating didnt wont the fight was thinking of put one of my own lads into it but was 3kg to heavy last nite? Glad you sorted it and i can my boy not try to loose weight. The point i was trying to make poeple worry to much about records and losing why not take a chance? There Not a lot of fighters who will fight at a drop of a hat any more . Wares the old saying gone have gloves will travel
HI Jamie It's got to be the most boring question in domestic kickboxing " will Tyler come to fight Sam in Scotland" and just in case you didn't know
Yes he will, given our own requirements are met, and we are served with the proper notice, no problem.
As for the Gary Minouge fight, then I say this, Tyler has been so sucessfull in kickboxing because of good training and good management, for me it's all in the preperation. I nor Tyler would be so rude as to think that a fighter from Pete Foleys well reputed strong gym could be overhauled with just two days preperation. This lad on paper alone is a dangerous player and we acredit him with the due respect. Tyler was originally overlooked for this title challange in favour of Sam ( with Sam being the current IKF Champion at the weight ) and a good Champion to boot, but you know what they say, you pays ya money, ya take ya choice. A different twist of fate, and then who knows maybe, it may have been Ty v Gary on Sat. But lets not deflect what is a great match in prospect Gary v Garath.
I am currently actively looking for meaningful fights for Tyler, especially as Ty's amatuer days are drawing to a close, and I am currently speaking with people in that vain. When Ty was passed over for this fight and Sam didn't fancy it in Telford either, changes were made to Tylers training regime to accomadate and best use the lack of ring time, and so it has been and is currently so. When Tyler re-enters the ring, all being well in April, then we hope to have improved what was already a top notch fighter.
Sam over to you and yours mate.
Back to this thread, Dave many CONGRATULATIONS mate in making the match with Garath Porter and Gary, I am sure that will make for a top bout, you have done amazingly well to pull that one off especially given the short notice.
We too have been so looking forward to what I know is going to be an awesome card and great night, and I would like to thank both yourselves and th eIKF for having us on this momentous night, and for the record, all the best to Qasim and too use one of Neils adadges, Qas will go head to head with his long time nemesis on Saturday, in what promises to be a fight long time remembered.
We had the pleasure of meeting Ronnie at Newark last October and would just like to say he is a great guy, who is destined for great things, but not wanting to play devils advecate my money is on Qas, regardless of how well these two lads are matched, I reckon Qas will agian prove, what a clever fighter he is.
Roll on tomorrow.
Nearly time folks!!
Two fighters who demand respect for what they have done in this sport are gonna put on a fine display for us mere mortals!!!!!
The legendary Lex brings the powerful multi title winning Ronnie "the shark" Clark to meet The undefeated Neil Kellys Undefeated prodigy Qasim "the dream" Beg!!
Will Qas land the shark?? or will Ronnie give "the dream" nightmares??
Just completed weigh-in with Qas and Ronnie looking extremely fit and well prepared tipping the scales at exactly 62.2kg. Both looked so relaxed I'm nipping back down to the venue in a few minutes to make sure they know they're actually fighting tomorrow.
Great buzz even tonight but tomorrow is going to be electrifying. BBC Radio 5 will also be in attendance to cover the event.
Hope you guys aren't going to miss this one.
For any amateurs out there around 83kg, Cathal Manning (28F, 18W, 7L, 2D)of Galway Black Dragons has also arrived with full kit ready to go. Any takers over 3-5 rounds?
That us Dundee lads and lassies about a hour and a half from Telford can't wait for an explosive night.... Can wait bus is buzzing... Good luck to Alex Bertie tonight team Scotland.. Ronnie is gonna get you !!!! I predict a hard one
good luck dave and lee on what will no doubt be a great night and to all fighters somebody post result of the qas and ronnie fight as soon as it happens please, dont want to wait around too long to hear about it lol
First of all just want to congratulate Qasim, Was a tough fight, not going to make excuses best man won on the night, quite confused about it all, just didnt seem like ronnie out there. but hey every1 has bad days, not spoke to ronnie yet as we travelled through night. Only thing i have to say is during the fight was really disapointed, scots stand around ring and we have to go sit down or fight be stopped, yet qas support standing and not sat down. not sure but i thought the atmosphere was electric way it was
ps sorry if there were a few muppets in our crowd ha, all crowds have them, i can tell u qasim crowd seemed to have a few o them also.
heard it was a good fight qas was on top form.. whos next for him. gutted i wasnt there was 1 not to be missed and i did lol how did lee and thet get on
I too would like to say well done to qasim.. Someone had to win and I amsure everyone would agree that most rounds were very very close and could have went either way. I think qasim was very composed and controlled the fight really well. Apart from the end of the ninth when he got hurt he got away very good fighting.. I think If we had another minute in the ninth qasim would have Bern stopped but he recovers well and got on his bike well in the final round... Again well done sign of good maturity and a great fighter... Also like to say well done to neil Kelly tactics were spot on 1st fight qasim was in trouble first 2 rounds and you changed it made the fight close... And last night fantastic again... A big well done to Ronnie he is soo humble.. No celebration at the end again and admitting defeat before the end shouldn't be so down on yourself was very very close and I'm sure everyone who was there would agree I know a few neutrals had Ronnie winning and a few scots has qasim winning.. I thought it was a draw.. But when it is that tight it's about interpretation by judges and I have no complaints on that front.. However a couple of things I was very disappointed with the ref... 3 or 4 times very early in the fight qasim led with his head never even got warned it was blatent.. Should have been a point off for the one that caused the cut not saying it did not get messy and Ronnie got involved withputting his head in but think it should have been dealt with.. And lastly very disappointed with the security of this event like Jamie this was shocking we travelled close 370 miles from Dundee paying the same as the local fighters but were treated like dirt.. Most of the Scottish singing was in good banter a couple of idiots but in there defence we were being taunted and the messages on the board some were very disrespectful... I would like to say well done to most of the Scottish supprt very loud and noisy for 10 rounds.. Good luck to qasim in the future I'm sure you will reach the top hoping to see another match up against Ronnie at some point sure everyone would agree was a cracker and the 2 bestin this division should definately meet again...
Huge thanks to everyone involved in the show - fighters, coaches, supporters and officials.
Some really entertaining and quality fights with Qas and Ronnie the undoubted highlight. Massive respect to both guys for an awesome display of skill, tactics and endurance. Congratulations to Qas on the win and to Ronnie for making it the tough fight it was.
I wont comment on the decision as I'm sure others more qualified will do so but all credit to Ronnie for his professionalism at the end of the fight.
Just picking up on the comments by David and Jamie regarding crowd control and I have to say that in the main the Scottish guys wera a great crowd. Bit over zealous and very vocal but that's what good supporters are all about and certainly the couple of guys I had to confront were both respectful and compliant to requests to chill.
It was however necessary for the officials and security to intervene due to the intimidating language and taunts of violence aimed at the USKA supporters. This being the main reason focus was more on the Scottish than English plus the fact that the USKA crew were in a standing area behind the seats while the Scottish were in the front rows. That said I'll hold my hands up to not having created two seperate standing areas. Bottom line though - no incidents and no trouble so many thanks guys.
I was sat on the side where the scottish fans were and from what i saw and heard it was all good ! great bunch passionate with it. I do feel they got a raw deal from security, neither side were worse than the other but the scotts did seem to get more attention .... but well behaved so all good
As for the result i thought the first two rounds were close but goin on the IKF kick count rule Ronnie was well behind loosing constant rounds through not kicking the 8 kicks needed. Qas stook to a well worked game plan and was solid down the centre with teh jab especially. As strong as Ronnie was i felt he was running out of ideas by round 6 , had a good dig in round round 9 but i wouldnt say in trouble.
As for clashes of the head , you are goint to get get messy contacts when the two fighters have a hieght difference and mixed with the passions involved im not surprised.
On teh whole a great fight , always good to see qas made to work and Ronnie knows how to do that ... pleasure to watch
Qas v Ronnie to one side, what a show with around 600-700 watching. I didn't see much of the action but Chantelle v Danielle looked a cracker as did Azad and Raf, Howard and Eric - all quality fighters who put on great performances.
Delighted with our own fighter Murray Dadswell who lost to Cathal Manning of Galway Black Dragons by majority decision. Murray's only had 3 fights but lost his opponent at weigh-in which created an opportunity for Cathal with 28 fights behind him to step in at just 3 hours notice. No disgrace in the loss to such a quality fighter (and really nice guy).... sincere thanks to Cathal for taking the fight even though it seemed a little optimistic bringing full kit as a supporter LOL.
Great to meet the legendary Lex, Pete Foley, Uel Murphy as well as Steve Gosden, Dennis Maycock and George (Jan Shi) for the first time. Massive thanks to Steve and Stacey Gosden for making the long trek up to Telford to present the belt - nice tough guys - thank you. Would have loved to have joined everyone in the hotel for a drink but we actually got locked in the venue after the staff went home!
Was a bit dissapointed with the disrespectful hand signs that led to the crowd becoming a little over zelous and agree with Dale. Thought the Scots got a raw deal. Its a case of live and learn for next time.
As for the fight itself I always try to watch as a neutral and gave it
Rd 1-draw
Rd 2-Ronnie
Rd 3,4,5,6,7,8 Qas
Rd 9-Ronnie (the closest to a KO all fight)
Rd 10-Qas
Ronnie is a quality operator but Qas is the best around at working you out and changing the game plan. Thought he controlled the majority of the fight and made Ronnie run out of idea's. Must say Ronnie looks a more accomplished fighter than he did in the first fight and cant see Zander worrying him none.
The best atmosphere yet at Unleashed and a great night.
Thanks Dave. Lee and the Unleashed team for another great nights kickboxing.
LOL Decided to let it run over to next show.
Qas just got on with it and with Sam pulling out there was not really any candidates!
Hopefully on the next Unleashed there will be Tyler, Sam/Scott and Qas to have a go:-).
Fair play to Qas he did show Ronnie maximum respect with the entrance.
we moved around to the standing area and yet again the fight would be stopped if we didnt sit down. to be honest i think the rivalry with the supporters made the fight even better, but the signs etc were not good. we sung no sogs insulting and only supported our guy which we always do. I for one think a rematch is always going to happen with ronnie and qas as both best in Qas weight division. this is only a set back those who know ronnie will know he will come back stronger. (good luck mike nudds in forfar on the 10th i say):P would like to see more of the english fighters come upto scotland as quite honest none of them top ones come up here. only 2 lately have been say Dean sugden and kyle williams for scott allan. Qas in scotland??
I agree with you snail but both fight were very close and if in Scotland I would say Ronnie would have won on both fights... I think this is wrong but is the facts of life... A neutral venue with mixture of judges will be good... There was a lot of comments from the English camp about the ref being biased the head knocks were shocking and was mostly qas( He should have had a point off...) He has a reputation of being biased as said by some of your own guys... Ronnie got a raw deal on that count.... But you roll with the punches.. Not to mention qasim kickng Ronnies legs on more than 5 occassions again not even a warning... It's not Thai...don't get me wrong I feel agrieved but the fight was very tight.... I had round 1 ( ronnie .. Qas never hit him once and barely threw anything never mind 8 kicks) round 2 ronnie tight... Round 3-7 qas although a fair few were very tight and could have been draw rounds.. 8-10 ronnie.. He hit qas with a stunner in. 8 his legs went...10 qas ran away( the right thing to do) so in my logic right or wring minimum draw... But again opinions will vary... That's why I feel a rematch would be in the interest of the sport.. I am sure a promoter would be willing to pay for some independant judges and a ref to have this massive fight on again.... Again well done to qas... Everything said to you by any scots was in good spirit and just banter... Your tactics were good and that's part of the reason you won...
I really don't like to get involved in discussions over decisions and even more so when we I'm one of the officials concerned, however I can't let some comments go without answer.
'He has a reputation of being biased as said by some of your own guys' The referee Wayne Rodrigues is my friend, I have known him 25 years and I ask on what basis you can make a diabolical comment like that. Biased against who?? and when?? He has reffed Qasim just twice if that is who your referring to.
and there's the laughable call once again for 'independent judges'...are you therefore questioning my integrity as well? because basically you are saying we are not capable of judging properly and fairly, something that I take quite personally to be honest. And to widen the point I'm pretty sick and tired of people sitting judgement on any official of any body who travel great distance, away from their families just to make sure these events go ahead (cos you certainly don't do it for the money)..only to find someone next day making slanderous remarks about us. Maybe I should not have left home at 11am yesterday and got home at 4am next day..maybe I should have spent the day with my family as there seemed to be so many 'qualified' and 'independant' judges in the audience!
For the record the judges scorecards were 96-95, 96-96, 97-96 However Ronnie was docked 5 points over the course of the fight due to the IKF kickcount rule which ensures the fighters are kick-boxing.
One last thing to say, big credit to Ronnie who was a gentleman and conducted himself brilliantly both before and after, a credit to his camp
Colin with regards to my previous post.. I never said the judges cheated in anyway or behaved in a wrong way.. That was a very hard fight to judge and must have been on of the closest fights... I believe that all judges should be independant for big titles and such big fights that's why the sport has this same issue coming up over and over again... I'm not questioning your integrity or anyone elses who were judging.. You seen what I would have scored so very tight and the judges score cards are very similar to mine and prob most people in there... My issue is I believe the ref made a couple of bad decisions... I am not saying he is a cheat in any way people make mistakes but when a few different English camps are also saying that the ref is getting it wrong and he has a reputation for doing it . It makes us stand and think... I am sure you can see where we are coming from... I have no disagreement with the outcome very tight to call... But at this level everything willbe scrutinised it's people careers and I'm sure qasims camp would feel the same if the boot was on the other foot... Also finally out of curiousity how many points was qasim deduction on kick count?? He threw nothing first round... I don't want to take anything away from qasim I though he was fantastic and tactics were spot on I just answering your questions because you have taken my post in the wrong way...
One point then..ALL judges were and are are independant full stop. Thats the job they have to do in Kickboxing, Boxing or any other fight sport. If they can't be, they don't do the job.
As chief IKF official last night I am more than happy with the way all the officials performed their job last night. If you want to question anything further then in the interests of not slandering people who I know would not post on AX, then call me direct 07912-577773
But please not tonight, as after my 17 hour round trip yesterday, I have refffed 37 light contact fights today and feel I should be able to spend at least part of an evening with my family.
Re Snail- Ronnie does want a fight in scotland as he has been down to England twice and close fights like both of them have been are the reason for a trilogy. But Ronnie needs to keep winning as does Qasim. People forget Ronnie comes up the weight as he wants to be the best. But i thought the fight could have went either way. Looking at the score card,Ronnie didnt celebrate after fight and also said on microphone Qasim won. Says it all, Qasim home show u never get a decision in a close fight like that. Its about time top english fighters started coming upto scotland, Ronnie has shown respect to Qasim. Went down twice. Gave him his hardest fights.Give and take, Qas should travel.I for one didnt agree with referee's performence on the night but i will wait to see the dvd.
Hopefully official results up tomorrow if Colin finds time after a manic weekend. Meanwhile, any signs of photos Andy? Details of event DVD early next week.
Quick aside to thank everyone who came along on the night. UNLEASHED is still very much in it's infancy but hopefully increasing in popularity. Attendance figures for event 2 were mid 400's and last night just over 600. One day we hope to attract 1,000-1,200 which will enable our financing some great International and top level title fights.
First and foremost, thank you to both Dave and Lee Whitfield alongside the Unleashed team behind the scenes for having the USKA team down once again and for putting on another tremendous show.
Also thank you to the IKF and it's team of officials for firstly affording my fighters the opportunity's to contest it's titles and secondly and most importantly keeping all my fighters safe inside the ring with it's safety first professional approach to the sport.
A few points I would like to address that have been made in this thread..............
Have to firstly though congratulate Ronnie on a very good fight and respect to both him and Lex for bringing something new to the table. I thought Ronnie showed more dimensions to his game than I have seen before that saw Qasim have to remain 100% focused throughout in order to stay ahead and stay out of trouble.
The history between Ronnie and Qas and Indeed Ronnie and Myself is no secret to most and I would like to take this opportunity publicly now to draw a line under the nonsense and move forward positively and respectfully.
Really nice touch at the end with the Microphone Ronnie, that showed true class.
Ronnie is a great fighter, make no mistake. It will take a very slick focused fighter at 60kg to beat him.
Ok, now that's done back to some of the points raised.
Firstly the fans thing, I'll be honest, I didn't notice any disrespect from the Scottish fans just passionate loyal support. I did however see and hear disrespectful comments from the English fans and gestures being made to the Scottish supporters that sickened me to the stomach. The people responsible should be ashamed of themselves and maybe look at supporting football instead of a noble art like kickboxing where they might not be so out of place. Muppets!
I feel indirectly responsible and apologise unreservedly for any offence that may have been caused.
In regard to the use of the head and the way Referee Wayne Rodrigues dealt with the head clashes.
The thing you have to remember is when a Southpaw and an Orthodox fighter meets these things are known to happen.
The first use of the head in the third round IN MY OPINION came from Ronnie. We're not complaining, it's a rough and tough fight after all. Qas knows how to fight inside and Ronnie was the one who unfortunately picked up the injury to his eye. Wayne again IN MY OPINION could see that it was both fighters equally responsible for the clashes and therefore was issuing quiet private warnings to both fighters to watch the head. It would have been unfair to deduct either fighters a point for something that wasn't deliberate and just down to styles. Qas received a nasty cut to the back of his head in the first fight down again to styles. No complaints, just the way it is.
Scoring of the bout. I had it similar to Mr Perks on the night and my feeling was confirmed on review of the film. I'll be honest, I think it's unfair to release the scores how they would have been without the point deductions due to not making kick count as it creates the impression that the fight was scored closer than it actually was. It would be like saying well if he didn't get knocked down 5 times he would have won.
I had like I said Qas ahead by 3/4 rounds and that's before the deductions, where does that leave us on points? Certainly not close. That's not a slight on Ronnie's performance by the way because I thought every round was closely contested.
In regard to a Rematch, again no disrespect intended but there is nothing in it for us, surely you can see that. Two fights, two wins and I'm happy that there was no controversy involved. Ronnie admitted defeat first time around although claimed he would have liked more time to get ready and again conceded defeat on the Mic on Saturday even before the result was announced. I am happy for Qas to fight in Scotland if terms can be met and his fight diary permits but don't think a third fight with Ronnie has any legs.
Qas keeps getting threatened by Mr Title Taker Allen lol, maybe that will be the big fight on the cards in Scotland for him in a few years time lol
Qas does fight on the road, In fact out of his now 13 Professional Kickboxing bouts only 2 have been in his home tow of Birmingham. He'll fight ANYWHERE if terms are good.
There is absolutely NO basis to accuse Wayne Rodrigues of being bias. He is a good referee and a fair man.
He is firm and fair. On a few occasions on Saturday my fighters were reprimanded by him in regard to rule infringements and they were met by me with no complaint.
Even the best referee in the World on occasion will make a bum call, an early stoppage, a late stoppage even but that and being bias are completely two different things. Wayne for my money is one of he best out there and a credit to the IKF officials team. By the way, just in case people are wondering, he has in fact only ever refereed my fighters to my knowledge on two shows.
David, come on dude, were you even watching the fight?
You claim Qas never threw anything in round 1 never mind the minimum 8 kicks??
Seriously, watch the tape, It was I admit a quiet round for Qas, a feeling out round but he did throw 12 kicks. It is on the film for everyone to see. Don't make it sound like your man was robbed without a mask.
I understand you are a die hard Ronnie fan and I respect that but he's not making excuses for himself please don't try and make excuses for him that don't even exist. I'm not having a pop here just don't want things to get silly again.
Can I just also make it clear that this was NOT a home show for Qasim. Dave Whitfield will confirm this but I have no say or anything to do with the promotion of the UNLEASHED events. The only connection is the fact that I am Lee Whitfield's manager and trainer and Lee as everyone knows is the co-promoter of the event.
My only input regarding the event is in negotiations with Dave on who my fighters will fight and the terms surrounding that fight. The Telford International Centre is at least 50 minutes drive away from my gym.
One of my lads fought for a Midland Title on the night and stopped opponent in the fifth round. The other lads coach said to me ' I didn't think it should have been stopped, maybe it's because your lad is the home fighter'. WTF, How's my lad the home fighter? His lad was from Birmingham too and probably lives and trains closer to Telford than my kid.
All that said. We had a good night. A Midland Area Featherweight title win by 5th round stoppage for Azad Khan. A Career best 4th round stoppage 5 Nations title defence for Chantelle Cameron over Danielle Kudmany and a Unanimous decision win for Qas over Ronnie to lift the British Lightweight Belt.
Didn't think it was vintage Qas but saying that thought Qas stayed focus, stuck to the game plan and fought an intelligent fight albeit not a flash one. We're very happy with the outcome.
Ronnie is not the kind of guy you want to take unnecessary chances with, he's no mug.
Something like nearly 30 fights 1, loss (to Qas) and 1 draw (to Ricky Glover) going into this fight.
With all sincerity....... The very best of luck to you in the future mate.
before judging the referee i think we should all wait for the dvd as that will clear up a few things that we all felt on the night. but on the night i felt like the referee was terrible. as for ronnie v qas 3 then the british fc scene is not that big and being honest finding credible opponents all the time will be hard. but hey ronnie will just need to keep winning and make himself a mandotory challenger for a belt. anyone who knows ronnie will know hell bounce back. no excuses from me if im honest. opinions yes! but hey ill wait to see dvd:) all said and done qas has a bright future. and well done to both qas and uska:)
I echo Jamies statement.. I am not making excuses for Ronnie... I have said it was very tight some of those middle rounds must have been impossible to judge... When we look at the DVD I'm sure we will see... As in Ronald conceding defeat.. This is the kind of person he is... He knew it was close and felt he did not have the decision... There may be other reasons to him thinking that... He done the same in the last fight as well.... Opinions will vary on both fights in my opinion .. Ronald should have got the decision last fight and without watching fight back I felt at least a draw... So that's why I feel a rematch on a show in Scotland would even this up..., as gor home show you say yourself neil you train Lee... He is one of your fighters??? That certainly gives you a link to that show... And 50 minutes to get about 30 mile where you stuck behind a tractor lol.. Ronald was fight 370 mile from his home so your point holds no baring same as last fight was home show aNd if ronald fought in Paisley or Motherwell as he has recently( over a hours drive from Dundee) they would be his home shows..... There was a head knock in the 2nd round qas leafs with his head neil in both fights will see that on the DVD. And you have said you had it by 3-4 rounds none of the judges seen it that way and none seen it the way of dean either... As I said earlier I think qas done well I think it was very close fight but I feel the British public deserve more these 2 are the best in Britain and for the 2nd time there has been a very close fight....if qas had beaten aronnie convincingly I would agree with you neil but that never happened it was very very close for the 2 nd. Time and for saying there in nothing in it for you guys anybody would say who was there on the night that this fight should happen again 2 very evenly matched fighter giving an amazing show to the crowd...

As co-promoter I'd just like to confirm the fact that UNLEASHED is neither the home show for Qas nor anyone else in the USKA Team with the exception of Lee. Qas has appeared on our three shows to date and we sincerely hope that we will appear on show 4 (and beyond) but that is not a given. Neil has shown us tremendous support by making Qas and the team available to us but we like every other promoter have to come up with the right deal to secure the fights.
It's true that our venue is only 35 miles from the USKA camp but so are Wolverhampton, Walsall, Solihull, Matlock and Derby - ALL venues where I believe Qas to have fought locally.
On the subject of Wayne Rodriguez, my first experience of Wayne was on show 2 where we were very impressed with his officiating. This in turn leading to our expressly seeking his return to referee event 3. Based on this weekends performance would we ask him back? Apologies to anyone who disagrees but categorically YES and without reservation. I appreciate that there were one or two instances relating to allegedly early stoppages but that merely reflects the IKF's safety policy on Amateurs and I for one endorse anything that keeps fighters safe.
Well done too Qasim was a good fight not making any excuses up for Ronald but he never done his best in the ring god knows what he was thinking but hey thats life was such a close fight though!
Just wanna say them messages on the board RIP RONNIE thats just tooo far no respect what so ever and Nudds is gonna get ya (The guy Ronald fighting in forfar) the fight was with Ronald and Qasim so no actually too sure what he was brought into it for there was loads more messages on the board as use all would of saw was a total joke!
Another thing what was it with all of Ronalds fans getting told too sit down or fight would be stopped but it was okay for Qasims fans too stand and give us the finger and so much more its pathetic we all came 370miles too support ronald! We paid what Qasims fans would have paid wasnt as if they were in the VIP section but they still got to stand we got treated like dirt whilst they stood there and never got told once to sit down!
Would be great too see Qasim come too Scotland and bring his fans with him not too worry they wouldnt be treated they way we were!:)
It seems a shame that such a great night of sport should be marred by the repeated reference to victimisation of the Scottish supporters so I would just like to add a final comment which I hope will end reference to it.
As mentioned previously I thought both sets of supporters were fantastic and would definately be welcomed back to UNLEASHED - without exception. Kickboxing is a contact sport, it should evoke emotions. We expect and indeed welcome the riavlous chants and indeed if it weren't for these type of supporters events would be very dull and lacking in atmosphere.
As event promoters we did however have responsibilities to the less vocal - especially the women and children not to mention our hosts the TIC. As a former police officer and senior doorman with an international nightclub group I also consider myself qualified to pass comment.
Bottom line in situations where there appears to be potential for a flare up it is customary to focus on the intersection between the rival supporters and then to target the main instigators. On three ocassions I felt obliged to intervene and in each instance the same primary culprit was repeatedly posturing in aggressive manner, using abusive language and making threatening gestures which in police terms constituted a threat of 'potentially inciting a riot'. In this instance the guy in question was Scottish but it would have made no diference if he had represented USKA, any other party or even our own club Bai Lang.
The guy also had a counterpart in the rival section but as he was well away from the intersection he was of lower priority.
It does have to be said however that on each ocassion I approached the guy in question he immediately withdrew and excercised full respect leading me to believe that he was not an actual activist although his demeanour suggested differently.
I have also held my hands up to the fact that there should have been two standing areas or at least one area with a natural divide but in reality the floor plan was arranged well before the ring orientation established. As such it was not until mid way through the show that the problem was identified. Next time, there will be two standing areas where both sets of supporters can vocalise.... and lets hope they do!
Back on topic, considerable mention of Qas and Ronnie (justifiably so) but what about the other fighters ... Gary maintaining his unbeaten run and 66% KO ratio? Chantelle? Howard? All great fights!
Ryan, just picking up on your post, DVD's will be available soon from the event website www.UNLEASHEDfightnights.co.uk. Photos of the event were taken by Andy and will be available to purchase from www.kickboxingphotos.co.uk. Be nice to see some examples posted though :-)
I do believe that the above should be the last post about any issue other than the fights, the fighters and show itself. Those of us involved in this sport contantly moan about our sport moving forward well this was just the sort of show the game needs. It had a great venue, great fights, proper presentation and co-ordinated fantastically. All other issues have now been aired and answered so lets move on and have it right, it was a great show
To start that off I would like to mention Howard Hogg and Eric Daly, for me the amateur fight of the night. Just very very good. Howard in many ways was a relevation, he can only go on to bigger and better things.
and hats off to Murray for stepping up against Cathal. That fight can only make you better
Would like to add my two penny's worth. First can i say well done to David and his team for a great night, Lovely venue and good qaulity fights. The issue with regards crowd trouble was not good from both main fighters supporters but was dealt with and the action carried on as it should.
The main fight itself was a good fight, but for me not close at all. Ronnie had dropped kicks in nearly all the rounds making it hard for him the more the rounds went on. Myself and Stacey had a good chat with Ronnie after the fight and he knows what went wrong, take nothing away from Qasim he fought the right fight. Both good quality fighters as it should be for the British title.
IKF officials in my opinion showed how the job should be done, the referee cant see everything in trying to be perfect but have to say i thought he done a very good job and so did everyone around me, watch the dvd and make your own minds up. Lets not put a damper on this show and give credit where its due!
Steve- Well its quite funny cause when Ronnie was speaking to stacy at the end of the night and was explaining how he felt the referee was biased as on the break kept pushing him etc u then replied you noticed that with a few of the fights:) maybe this is the reason why full contact is in the mess its in as people change there opinions on who they are speaking too and seem to have no loyalty and want to keep everyone happy:) its ok though Ronnie wont come on here and slate anyone and go to there level. But things like this are pathetic if u ask me:)
Jamie, My gripe at the end of the show talking to Ronnie was about the use of Ringstar boots. We will always have our own opinions but please dont tell me people lost on the night through the ref, This was a good show with good fights well matched. We all know Ronnie could of done better but on the day he did not produce his best, his words not mine. You can see ronnie has class and as at the final bell showed he is a gentlman. Lets move on!
Jamie, with the ammount of posts and the threads you have you seem to have quite a few issues about things. Your also making some serious accusations about people (some of which border on the slanderous) , which I'm not sure if you intend to do so. A lot of what your saying certainly won't help the most important people the fighters as its quite understandable that promoters may be hesitant to bring fighters down knowing this sort of thing could happen, spoiling the memory of a bloody good show, something I'm sure was not intented.
You are welcome to give me a call at anytime as is Mr Fairfield if you wish to discuss it further (my number's above) but I do think you've said enough on here if you don't mind me saying.
More than happy to chat with you over any issues. Doesn't mean we have to agree, but think thats the best way and is the fairest to the promoters concerned.
Hi Colin only commenting because you have mentioned my name.. I have voiced my view and concerns and although I may not agree with what you have said in previous posts it is not my place to call you to discuss these issues and would me calling actually make any difference.. I am sure you understand that it is up to Lex and Ronnie if they wanted to take any of what we have said any further as I am just a fan.. I can assure that I amnot slandering anyone just voicing my concerns... I have been too a lot of shows and my views are valid whether right or wrong.. And in regards to the fans... Nothing against you at all Dave but I asked clear as day to one of the security why you not moving the English fans he said there was too many.. And when I said your joking he said sit to fuck down( sorry for swearing but that's what was said) it took a lot for me not to react but as I was sober and more interested in the fight I started to calm our fans down and get them to sit down... There were weapons in the English end with fans having knives and threatening to stab members of our fans... I tried to be fair earlier with this but saying one from each is wrong.. And trying to stop a riot... I think if people were searched before they came in weapons would not have been brought in... There was also guys outside planning to attack some of our fans.. No security presence at all outside.. There were kids in with the scottish fans and they were offered no protection from potential harm... Thank god nothing happened..
what have i said that has slandered anyone? colin i think you should maybe read my posts. i have said wait till the dvd is in. and the only thing i have said was regarding steve gosden and im sure he doesnt need you to stick up for him, he has replied himself. I have not said my opinion as of yet but seems clear as day u have. u have said u thought the referee has done a great job etc...i pay money to come to these shows down in england and this is what u mean regarding starting up the only thread i have ever started on ax. you are very defence on this subject? have u seen the dvd? you are in same boat as us we presume. i e have not ruined any memory of the fight, that fight was one to rememeber for sure......
I am 'defensive' Jamie for one very simple reason. I am involved with like minded people who are trying to raise the standards within the sport. I just feel that threads like this do a diservice to those involved in putting on a great show and so giving a false impression to anyone looking in.
I just feel that we should celebrate the positive and if anyone wants to raise an issue they should do so through the proper channels and thats why i offered my number for anyone to call if they wish
No disrespect BUT!! Qas won BUT!! Not making excuses BUT!!
Come on guys we were there and saw the same fight!! To say Ronnie would have won in Scotland is a bit pot & kettle. The dignity of the officials is questioned and then you say Ronnie would have won in Scotland. Must question the standard of officiating in Scotland in that case!! (im only playing devils advocat).
Ronnie won a lot of respect on Saturday before he got the mike and I must say the Scottish fans were fantastic and yes did get a raw deal as far as the standing was concerned. I was standing behind the Qas support by the camera man and was disgusted by some of the hand signals as I had my lad with me.(he keeps singing "Ronnies gonna get ya" by the way).
To say the security was none existent and that children were in danger is not true. I never saw a knife but if anyone did they should have reported it to security emmediatly.
Ive been at a show that did kick off in Barnsley a couple of years ago and that show had NO standing.
We dont really wanna start being searched on the door do we?
The show............
A big well done to Murray Dadswell taking on the far more experienced Cathall Manning and putting on a great show. Thought he might av got a draw to be frank.
First time ive seen Chantelle and must say she is one tough operator. Her opponent was also as tough as old boots. Fair play girls great display.
Azad & Raffa's fight was also a cracker with two completely committed guys avin a great tear up.
Howard & Eric also put on a very mature technical performance.
All in all a great night for kickboxing.
I just hope that people reading this thread dont get the wrong idea.
Who's next for Qas? I can only see two on the domestic front for him. Rob Stevens and Ricky Glover. Stacey Gosden as we all know has removed himself from domestic action for now.(But that would be a craker sometime in the future.)
Be good to see any of them at Unleashed 4!! (Dave ;-))
As for Ronnie at 60KG no-one is gonna knock him off the top spot at that weight.IMO far too strong!
Would have liked to have met Lex, Steve and Stacey Gosden and Ronnie on the night but didnt really wanna impose after the show. Next time maybe!
just wanted to congratulate unleashed for a great show - the fights were all good, the atmosphere was great with a packed house, the officiating was proffessional, and the sportsmanship from the competitors & coaches was top notch.
this show was a great example of our wonderfull sport - and that even includes the banter from the opposing spectators! its all part of it guys, and means nothing in the cold light of day, because all the fights were fairly matched, fairly fought and fairly judged.
well done to all - congratulations to all the champions of the night, and even to the losers, I have to say that everyone contributed to a great night of fight entertainment, which hopefully means that all those spectators will happily come & pay to watch again.
i was not let down with chantels performance, not having seen her fight before but having heard great things about this talent for some time now, i was definitly not let down, and i hope her progression continues. colin previously doing as good a job as possible, and now neil no doubt will continue that.
i also like it when i am right about a prediction - when karl johnston had his first fight, i said that i expected him to be one of our next good up & coming fighters, and again, he has not dissapointed! anouther lovely performance from this young man, and i am now firmly a fan!
i loved the irish jig in the crowd when the galway lad won - what a nice finish to a fretfull situation where we nearly didn't have an opponant.
have to put my hand out to ronnie - he demonstrated possibly the first real test for qasim, and although perhaps missed the finishing touches on nailing qas, certainly put up a fantastic performance. the kick count neglect did have an impacted, but it is was it is, and its not what should have happened that counts, it is what did happen, and a firm winner was found. well done to qas, a deserving british title holder.
ronnie also showed mature & professional sportsmanship, and he has my instant respect for that, along with the respect from probably everyone else in the room.
it was nice touch to have stacy give over the belt, and i also wish him all the best in his progression up to european & world level.
i know murray didn't win, but it was a fine performance, and there is nothing there to not hold your head up, i look forward to his next fight too as he is coming on really well.
all in all a good nght, and its a pleasure to see that we are moving into an era where we are starting to acknowledge structure rules and professionalism.
dave & lee have held a good account of how making that investment into progression for our sport can be rewarding.
Hey what an eventful weekend that one was. Just getting back to reality now all that travelling aint good for you, and sleeping upside down in the car sure hurts your neck lol.
Firstly I would like to thank Dave and Lee Whitfield for having me down on Unleashed 3 was a pleasure. I dont agree with all the talk on ax about The Dream vs The Shark, It was such a great fight as i am sure everyone will agree. I am fed up with everyone putting there tuppence worth in! Everyone is entitled to an opinion i agree, but respect also goes along way too?! Now where i stand. I am a 60kg fighter and staying down at this weight until i have unified every belt in the division! I am willing to fight anyone at minus 60kg either for titles or just prestige fights! I know at the moment alot of people been avoiding me but i am sure now if your ranked above me then we must get it on?!
Lastly i would like to thank Qasim and the USKA camp for taking this fight. Maybe once i have taken as much as i can in my own weight division i will move into the 62.5kg division and fight you again :) in Scotland hopefully?! Only time will tell...
Having read Jamies posts, and all the other posts I was ready to simply type..."why do we bother, and is there any point of an Unleashed 4??" but then I see Deans post and Dawns post, aswell as other posts further above (when you filter past all the negative crap!) and see that people do enjoy them and are behind us.
Our first show I think was the easiest show to put on, and the last 2 shows have been absolute nightmares... and at the end of all 3 put together, we have just broke even. But we carry on as we have been lucky to have put on 3 great fight nights that people recognise and will hopefully help raise kickboxing up to another level... just look at the MSA Thai Event... kickboxing can be there one day! And it is no secret that we would like a return from it one day :)
Saturday morning me and my dad both agreed that we dont want to promote anymore... then at the end of the night we see it all worked out for the best and couldnt have gone any better (bar a couple of niggles). It is such a shame to see so much negativity in kickboxing... I am sure if we look through the thai show threads, we will see very little of this negativeness.
I think just having a couple of people claiming 'biased reffing', 'bad security', 'descrimination against the Scottish' and 'knives being spotted!' can be enough to put off many promoters having these people down again. It happended with that show in Barnsley someone mentioned, 1 fighter with a big crowd that had only a couple of bad people causing trouble, made it difficult for them to find fights as fighters didnt want the hassle and promoters didnt want the trouble!' Please respect your fighter - if there are problems with officials contact Colin at IKF, if there are problems with the venue or running with show then please contact us - rather than publicly air it!' I dont want to fall out with anyone, but hate to see these comments openly aired as it does no one any good... it outs both lots of fans, the show, the fighters, the clubs, the officials, the governing body and kickboxing in general in a bad light to Joe Public reading this!
I would love to have Ronnie down again, as he was a sound guy and good fighter - and Lex was brilliant to deal with (and was great to have the legend visit my gym but thats a different story lol). Just becareful whats posted as it isnt good.
These forums are good to have debates on who should of won etc, but there are certain things that need to addressed to the right people as to not tarnish kickboxing in a bad light!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On a different note, and keeping it short and sweet (as my fingers are blistering lol)... all the fighters were awesome! Credit to everyone of you! A show cant be good unless the fights are good, and everyone of you were brilliant!
Didnt see all fights but...
- Howard Hogg v Eric Daly was a nice one!
- Chantelle showed why she is the top female amateur in the Country and destined to be a future star.
- Dead chuffed with Murray, still learning and only his 4th FC fight and did soooo well to hold his own with Cathal Manning. I thought he was very close to securing a draw. Was really unsure about taking the fight but did him the World of good.
- Ronnie v Qas was brilliant, a very focused and mature performance by Qas and Ronnie always showing how dangerous he can be - definetley edge of your seat stuff!
Echo Lee's comments Ronnie. An absolute pleasure having you down for what we hope to be the first of many visits especially as you're now likely to have established a fan base down here too. So who' willing to take on the Shark's challenge?
Meanhile I have to ask .... what were you doing before you fell asleep upside down LOL
I'd just like to say thanks to the Bai Lang team for having us over and to the IKF Officials for their professionalism both in the judging and refereeing.
I travel to the UK quite a bit and deal with various organisations from Wales to Scotland and England and we always get a fair call from the IKF and regarding Wayne - he's a true gentleman of the sport so hold your head high mate.
Wayne has reffed many of my fighters with no complaints from me or any of my crew and hopefully will again in the future.
Being a Judge and Ref myself I know the s**t they have to put up with (usually from people who have never reffed a sparring session let alone a pro fight in front of hundreds of people), but people forget that we as officials are only human and people only love to nit pick and bitch when things don't go their way.
I found myself having to intervene when Qas was being verbally abused by a few drink fuelled spectators near the door as it was well before his fight and he had enough on his mind but as soon I told the guys in question to lay off him, in fairness, they did.
Both Ronnie and Qas put on a fine display of Kickboxing and were both very well turned out and well prepared which is a credit to Lex & Neil and as I know and respect both parties I'd just like to say well done.
Also thanks to Gareth Porter and his coach Uel Murphy who came all the way from Northern Ireland on short notice to fight Gary Manogue.
Gareth is a WKA British Champ and won out the WKA amatuer World championships in Spain last year so he was a more than credible opponent.
Any challengers to Garys new title can just contact me and we'll bring any suitable opponent to Ireland for an ALL expenses paid trip to include flights, 4 star hotel, food and a few beers to boot and if anyone boos or sparks up, we'll have em chucked out.
Also it was nice too have a few beers with my old mate Steve Gosden even if he did only have shandys (petrol next time mate).
Yes Dave I think Ronnie did gain some fans and I for one would like to see him again at his preferred 60KG.
Lee youll please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time!!!
Negative comments from .25% of the crowd?? Great show AGAIN!!
Pete im no challenge but ill do an all expenses trip and make anyone look good for a minute or so. lol
Hey dean - just checked your profile mate and we'd probably have to cut one of your legs off (or both) for you to make weight LOL.
Still, its a better offer than we had last week.........................!
All the best.
Congratulations to Dave and his team at Bai Lang for a great show and may they go from strength to strength, in creating one of the countrys finest shows. Too be honest if I had a critism of Unleashed to date it would have been everyting fantastic, just lacked a little atmosphere, Not so Saturday, the place was buzzing with some great fights on display. Particuly impressed by Howard Hogg and Eric Daley great fight id Am kickboxing no harm at all. Murry put up a great show against Cathal showing just why he is one to watch in his division. The irish guys were quality ( as were their fans ) always are, and the Scotch well they were Scotch ( noisey and passionate.)
It was great to see young Azad back in th ering and Uska doing their thing 3 fights 3 wins.
Got a familiar sound to it don't you think.
Well done Neil top man.
Last but not least well done to Qas, conquered Britain where next?
