I have noticed very much politcis of late in both FC and MT worlds between gyms and associations.
What would you say are the biggest causes of falliong out between gyms, promoters, fighter/trainer fall outs etc?
From personal experience , I'd say a lot of things show related cause fallings out.
ROFL, have you fallen out with someone over me Dale :D
Yes you are right , on a serious note I was expecting more replies but never mind.
These are things that tend to cause fall outs, disagreeing with judges decisions, fights been stopped by the referee too early/too late, Camp A's fighters all being sparked out by camp B's fighters, promoter not making an effort in matching Camp C's fighters up.
Which of the above are correct?
alot of people full of their own self importance?
i.e. my association is better than yours??
a post like this doesnt help and may cause a few...clown
May cause a few clowns from doing exactly what ? :D
I think issues highlighted in the post do need to be adressed rather than brushed under the carpet.
JamieW gave a couple of positive posts on this thread. Well done lad!
I think it's all about confidence in a decision.. I don't know how many home shows I have been too and been gobsmacked with the decision... The problem in my opinion is that it's in the organisations interest for home fighters to win to have more shows sanctioned... Also when trainers are member of the committee then what can you do.. Honesty is what's needed.. All everyone asks for is people being fair.. Whether it's fight decisions.... Miss matches being made and greed... If people have a true love for any sport they want the best for it... Even if there fighters. Were too lose...
People who are in it for themselves v's the people who are in it for the love of the sport... This is the main one that I see.
David Fairfield ,
That was an excellent post and most likely what I was looking for.
I agree with you 100% , which is why i practise as such on my own shows.
Fair matchmaking and fair judging are the way forward.
Everyone who has fought on my show has always complimented me on how fair both the matchmaking and judging are.
Obviously you will occasionally get someone who thinks they won despite having (a) not done enough work , (b) their strikes landed but been hitting the gloves , (c) not shown effect with scoring techniques or even (d) just gone in there like a boxer and forgotten to kick (then expected to win but failed to realise it is KICKBoxing/Muay Thai and not Western Boxing LOL) and still expecting the decision.
Seems to me everyone slags of everyone, don't trust no fuker. Its not about being mates.Agree with fair matches and good judging. My real friends and people I trust don't have anything to do with fighting.
I guessed that's what you were looking for haha... I am a strong believer in fair play.. The best man/women should win no matter what the consequences for the promoter.. I think too many clubs have too much too lose when I comes to there fighters... So many organisations so Many titles... You can now say your champion or Britain/Europe and the World without fighting the best fighters... Then when they do get paired off there is only ever gonna be one winner on a home show.. It's wh people leave kickboxing for other avenues.. And also why no one is interested for tv etc no one likes fixed fights and bad matchmaking.. Let me ask everyone a question how many times have you travelled thinking I'm gonna need to knock the guy out cause there is no way I can on points....
Impartial Officiating & Fair Matchmaking is what is needed.
I am also always a little sceptical when a coach promotes his own shows with his own fighters on, especially if the officials have not been appointed by an independent body.

Couldn't agree more then with John Walsh's statement that sums it up in a nutshell the rest is just ripple effect of this statement....
With the positive and constructive replies given by high profile and credible members of the thai and kickboxing community, that alone has proven that there are issues that take place and this thread was needed after all LOL
By bringing it in to peoples consciousness and awareness, you are empowering these misguided differences.
We are all sportsmen/women who like to puch and kick each other..... simples.
Focus on the similarities rather than the differences
Disagree completely noi666, yes we are sports people but things like this need to be highlighted.
OK some people are in it "for themselves" , everyone wants to make a bit of a profit and pay the bills etc but we need to be looking after the people who support the shows.
I think fair matchmaking and judging are an essential.
I have just had a kickboxer now in facebook chat just compliment me on my matchmaking and asking if there was a space on my next show.
That kind of comment makes me think im doing something worthwhile.
Not just for me but for him and everyone else as well as the sport in general.
Life is not a bed of roses unfortunately neither is the sport we are in (as a generic) but if he highlight things that need to be worked on then we can push it forwards.
You cant improve without constructive criticism.
I partially agree with you, but you didnt ask for anything constructive....
"Here is a problem, and I suggest x,y,z solutions, which do you think is best"
You asked for main causes of fallouts, hence empowering the difference without any regard of a solution.
Maybe this should be restarted so there is a clear direction towards what you WANT to happen, rather than what has caused differences in the past.
I can see what you are saying, but I think there has to be a distinct focus on answers, rather than dragging up old arguements/problems. This could very easily turn in to a mud-slinging contest. Do you agree?
All meant with the best intentions, obviously! :) x
If the benefits of staying apart are perceived and/or work better than staying together then people will stay apart.
In the first place, the idea of "sticking all together" should not remain unquestioned. Leads United is a game of words related to football, not MT :)
My main answer to "why, oh, why aren't we all in the same boat" is instead simpler: sick legislation. In my place all you need to turn on a sanctioning body into a personal franchise is a general assembly and a handful of brainwashed followers.
The core problem:
- the general assembly should function democratically
- this creates the huuuge problem: "the boss introduces clubs of semicontact or worse -> all these are owned by friends of his -> general assembly turns into a voting machine for his clan"
A first solution is to split management and obviously budgets on a-b-c classes and devise a way to make all work together for the big picture but have decision power where their level belongs.
Still remains valid the question "then who promotes a club from c area to upper areas". In my place, the boss of the federation (whom no one works with actually in the A class area) is soooo careful with licensing profesionals that actually no one owns a license. Answer is more complicated: associations should be led not by presidents and councils but by representatives of strong clubs based upon participation/promotion of events. I dare to say: this is oligarchy, but it remains lucrative. It is preposterous to freeze all the things under a boss and the boss has had "some" activity 35 years ago when he graded 2-nd dan the chimp of his boss :)
