Topic:Rumble In The Glen - March 13th.

Posted: 2010-01-22 17:53:26
Bob Murdoch and I are co-hosting the inaugural ‘Rumble in the Glen’ fight event in the Macdonald’s Aviemore Highland Resort on Saturday 13th March, 2010. This is a primarily a novice Muay Thai show featuring C Class bouts, but we do hope to have 1 or 2 B Class bouts if the busy fight calendar in Scotland allows it. The venue is great, holding up to 550 spectators comfortably and will be another first in the area following on from Moray Muay Thai’s Highland Warriors event in Elgin last year. I realise that this year Scotland more than ever has a hectic fight calendar but if possible could you please give me names, weights and experience of any fighters who want to take part in this event?

Muay Thai is new to the area and we are trying to promote and develop it as well as introduce new fighters to the circuit. Please e-mail if you are interested or want matched at all.

The Macdonalds Highland Resort is a large hotel complex with leisure facilities and is centrally located in Aviemore. We have arranged a discounted room rate if travelling support wish to stay and they are able to book rooms through us at £49 per room (twin or double occupancy) and this includes breakfast! Should any friends or family wish to come spectate, stay and then do an activity the following Sunday then please contact us as we have many contacts in the Aviemore area (I work as a White Water Raft Guide).

Have flicked an e-mail off to you Dougie.

It's a clash of dates, but still there are plenty of C class fighters around, we'll just need to co-ordinate it all.

Cheers all

For those interested in travelling to support or even wanting to make a night of it we have good room rate with the Macdonald Resort for our show:

For guests to book accommodation they should quote 'Moray Muay Thai'
There is no baby sitting service.
The family rooms at the Aviemroe Inn are one Double bed and 1 single bed, there are also doubles and twins which could take a cot.
They do not charge for chidlren under 5 years.
Children 5 - 15 years are charged at £15 B&B
For larger family rooms guests will need to stay at the Academy Hotel or use 2 interconnecting rooms in the Inn which may be cheaper.

A regular twin/double room + breakfast is only £49 (less than £25 each!).

No ringside tickets left I'm afraid, and only 2 ringside tables left. General admission tickets still available though - £15.

Call the hotline numbers for info.

Fight card shaping up, but not yet confirmed.....

Still looking to match:

72kgs C Class 1f
77-79kg C Class 1f
56kg C Class no experience.

Hey folks,

Have got some of fight card confirmed, but still looking for a match on the following:

C Class
59kg 0 experience
64kg 2/3 fights
79kg 1 fight

Let me know if you have anyone and I'll see if we can get it sorted.

All Ringside tickets now sold, but some general admission still available.

Only 1 sponsor slot left.

Room rate code for Macdonald Hotel - 'Moray Muay Thai' - gets you a twin/double plus breakfast for only 49 quid! Between two not bad, plus you could always pop up the Cairngorms for a bit of skiing or snowboarding on the Sunday!

Cheers.

Many thanks to Moray Muay Thai for having us on this show and what a show it was, great venue, great fights and fantastic hospitality! Its been a long time since I enjoyed a show as much. As Stewart has said the level of sportsmanship was great a lot of banter between the camps and a good atmosphere in the changing rooms!! Well done Pauly Mac on winning his fight convincingly while dealing with the stress of promoting the show!!!

Moray Muay Thai are planning to make this an annual "rumble" and I would recommend that all fighters and coaches put the date for the next show in their diaries!!! An absolutely great weekend even though Mischo Donko spilled his pint over me at the after show party! " BE PROUD HIGHLANDERS!"

Well guys the dust has settles since the first 'Rumble in the Glen' fight show and the outcome was good.

The show has really raised the profile of Muay Thai in the North here and it's given our lads some experience in the ring, so they are now looking for more! Will be in touch with promoters with shows on this year as I may have some C Class fighters at various weights to offer. Just depends on work committments etc - you know what it's like!

For now I have the following weights:

Male
56/7kgs x 2
70/1kgs x 2
73/4kgs x 1
76/7kgs x 2
78/9kgs x 2
82/3kgs x 1
85/6kgs x 1

Female
59kgs x 1

More are interested, but we'll see how the training goes! All are C Class and the most experienced is 3 fights.

Don't hesitate to get in touch and we'll see if we can help you out!

Thanks again to all who were part of the first event in Aviemore and glad you all had a fun weekend! Looking forward to next time already :)

Cheers
