Age maybe ? but gotta say I Respect, Admire and Totally agree with training hard for as long as you can !
Too many just Fade and give up !
Looks like Malaipet really Takes his training serious, and you can tell in his Skin, And Conditioning !
Fair play to him !
If hes Fighting Peter Crooke ? ( didnt K ow he was ? )
Great news for Both of em ! iot will be a Great Fight as Both are Not the youngest in the game !
but are sure as hell showing the Young Guns !
Why they are @ the top still !
Full on respect To Both

On a Personal note I Know Peter and of course i would want him to win ! But it is just a sport !
Chok-dee to Both !

quote from that article...

“Kumite” will be a film where the fighting arts will be elevated by fresh ideas, engrossing story and a new type of tournament. It will create a new approach to test the top fighters with brand new faces and real champions. Van Damme has been working on the script for over three years to reach the perfection that he insists on, to demonstrate the art of winning. He has assembled a team of professional actors, stunt arrangers and artists, consultants and film crew to bring this extraordinary story to the screen. Names like Jerome Lebonner (K1 world champion, who is about to take on Mike Tyson); Malaipet (The Diamond), a real Muay Thai fighter with 150 pro fights and 130 wins; Kenji Yamaki, 1st place in Kyokushin Kai World Karate Tournament and achieved the Grand Slam of Karate (the only person in the world to have achieved this); and many more of equal stature.

Hello Mr. Dobler how are you??? You know what they say? The camera makes you look biger than you are...I guess that must me true... Malaipet is very extited but very foussed at the job at hand and that is fighting and winning. That's what he must due to get in and win the K-1 Max. It's something I have talked to Malaipet about for all most one year as a goal to be reached in 2004. Now it looks possable. One of Malaipet's dreams is to be able to buy his father a house in Thailand...this too looks possable!!! Go Malaipet!!!!!!

I think Van Damme looks good considering he is 43 years old already. He's not as big as before, but he looks to be in good shape.

Hey Flame

Lots of respect to you for your work and effort. I post a lot of your pictures on a Danish martial arts forum but always put your name on it.

Nice pictures in this thread also and please tell Malaipet that he has a fan in tiny Denmark. And by the way I think he got robbed agains Van Venrooij in Super League. I am the Danish commentator for EuroSport but could not help but shout out loud that I dissagreed with that decision! :(

Also tell Ole I said "hi" when you see him next weekend. We used to train a little bit together when Ole was still "green" - well he was actually green as he was in the army in my home town and took his first Muay Thai class at the gym where I was preparing for my first fight.

Fingers crossed for Malaipet on the 22nd of May - I will be shouting for him LIVE on EuroSport.
And good luck to Peter as well - may the best athlete win! :)

Best regards

Hey John,

Not Brian Dobler, just a former member of MTA who checks in from time to time. I always enjoy your posts 'cause I get to see pics of my old friends and how well they are doing. I just wish Van Damme had been their while I was training and seen my talent, I think I'd make a much better actor than a fighter ;).

Can't wait to see Malaipet in K-1 Max!

Take care,

-Rob

I have had the honour of training with Malipet and I would concur that he kicks like an elephant!
As far as the $1 bets go - at the time of writing this, £5 on Malipet 'the diamond' Sitprapom to win will get you £8 and £5 on Peter Crooke to win will get you £16 on BeLuckyTote.com

As an aside, a 'little bird' tells me that Malipet Sitprapom will soon be reverting to Malipet Sasiprapa - the name of his Bangkok Gym.

Other famous Sasiprapa fighters include BM Sasiprapa and Sandaj Sasiprapa (due to fight Kieran Keddle on June 6th in Plymouth UK). And I am told that Sasiprapa Gym is about to unleash another 100+ fighter onto the world stage and that this new fighter is one of thier best ever!

You heard it first on AX!
