alright lads and lasses, i love watching films but especialy love it when you have heard very little about the film and it turns out to be a cracker, here are two i sugest everyone watch THE MATADOR and MATCHSTICK MEN both are proper sound and under rated
Very Bad Things. Dark humour at its best.
'Running Scared' is amazing!
Nice topic :-)
i love very bad things it also has koby tai in it and ms diaz, class. Wild things is v.good aswell with denise richards. would you?
Django really good movie some good one liners in it.
Orphans
great.
some really funny bits.
city of god, its a brazilian boyz n tha hood
shogun assassin "choose the sword and choose life, choose the ball and join your mother in death"
memento with the guy out of neighbours
Golden Rendezvous - Richard Harris flick from the 70`s. Good high seas action thriller as is North Sea Hijack with Roger Moore.
Nice one about Matchstick Men, very good film. Awesome twist at the end!
momento is twisted total back to front and well worth watching
Could never follow that film, same with that Vanilla Sky shite!
I thought 'Shogun assassin' was shite. The story was okay but all that squirty-blood-shower shit was really crappy. For the same reason, I don't like 'Kill Bill 1', 'Kill Bill 2' was class.
Sword of Vengeance and Babycart at the river styx are the follow on films from shogun assassins. It's also where Rza got a lot of his intro's from for his music on films and production of other wu songs. thought kill bill2 was shit and 1 was good
big martino, your spot on about orphans one o the funiest brit flicks ever, also a little known gem is riff raff, its got robert carlilse and ricky tomlinson in it way before they hit the big time.
stevie
Love, honour and Obey is well under rated and a brit flick, Sadie Frost,Denise van Outen, Jonny Lee Miller, Ray Winston, Jude Law and Many more, Plenty of violence sex and humour. Brilliant.
"The Boxer" (Daniel Day-Lewis) set in Ireland, I thought it had a good storyline, some good action and drama... I had never heard of this movie until one day I found it in some DVD sales bin. I guess it may have been popular over in the U.K
yea boxer is a goooooooood film.
24/7 with bob hoskins, rocky it aint but its a damned sight more believable
"Love, honour , and obey"
Golden Child - Did ya notice that the characters in the movie all used the actors' real names?
Stevie
Haven't seen riff raff, need to look that one up.
Love Honour and obey
Great movie
The Business by Nick Love (Made the Football Factory)
Not a bad movie but the sound track is great. (set in the 80's)
Plus you cringe that you used to wear some of those awful
tracksuits.
Yes I did, they use their own names in Final Cut as well, almost same cast.
Another great film nobody seems to have heard about is 'powder'.
You say every film is pish, Craig. What about the film you recommended to me before, 'The Replacement Killers'? Now THAT was utter pish.
Come to think of it, what are you doing up at this time? Did ya pee the bed?
Anyone seen "Dinner Rush", really quite a low budget film, a bit quirky in that the entire movie (with the exception of one scene) is shot on location in a restaurant.
The plot is fantastic, little known cast were perfect. I'm a real movie buff and it's definitely one of my all time favourites. The timing is beautiful. If you haven't seen it, get a hold of it, it's awesome.
Blood in blood out
and Amercian Me
in the 80,s a film that didnt do jack in the uk that i absolutely loved was The Sure Thing, wi John Cussack, pure class
Blood in blood out is that the movie with the mexican gangsters in LA?
american history x thats a quality film
also the clokwork orange
Gangster No.1
One of the better British gangster films, some quite memorable scenes.
mind hunter, dont think was ever released in the uk but can get it on pirate, bit grusome
mind hunter was ok bit of a shit ending as thought they had run out of money
but good deaths all the same
Anyone see that Michael Caine film that was on Saturday night on BBC1 where he played a boxing promoter / gangster?
Shiner (2000) i think it was.
Terrible boxing scenes and acting at times but kept me glued for 95 minutes lol
I kept switching back on to it, I dont know why cos it was shit, never got going, and had a very shallow storyline which ended as soon as it had started.
Maybe I kept thinking it was going to get good.
Four Brothers.
Boondock Saints.
good call on boondock saints, willam defoe and billy conelly.
kung fu hustle is as mad as a trumpet on toast.
memento
timecode
clerks
blue velvet
im still yet to watch irreversible. my dvd broke! gah!!
Maybe not low profile but 'Wild Geese' is one of best action/war style thrillers there has ever been.
Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Roger Moore all in the cast. You wouldnt see the equivalent of that nowadays.
dogma , grosse point blank
Assault on Precint 17, the original
Love Honour & Obey
The Final Cut
Both blinding films!
I can't believe nobody has mentioned 'beautiful boxer' yet...then again, it's not low-profile on AX.
is it good? i know the guy who trained he/she while at kiatbusaba. never watched it coz it looked crap
I thought it was fantastic. Even people I know who've seen it and are not into Muay Thai have told me they enjoyed it.
Like most others, I was iffy about watching it but it's REALLY well filmed.
everyone must watch running scared, absolutly out of controle. best never heard of film iv watched this year easy, some sceanes are savagly sick
Sexy beast 2001 with Ben Kingsley as psycho nutter gangster Don Logan. He's in it for 15 mins and got nominated for an oscar.
agreed it's astonishing how an actor who played Gandhi can be totally credible as a scary, psycho nutter. Good role for Ray Winstone too.
Film 4 has played some good films recently... the french horror 'Switchblade Romance' - it is quite a mad one. And 'Dead Man's Shoes' - that was good too.
Anyone seen these?
just watching 'this is england' wicked film
is that the sean bean one?
Dead mans shoes is a beast!
This is England is a sound film too.
And wolf creek.
mischief night(the new east is east)
Dead Mans Shoes defo, Shane Meadows is a damn good director.
This Is England is a great film.
What about Romper Stomper or Chopper? Both Cult films!
Good call on Romper Stomper, one of Russell Crowes finest.
Not seen This Is England yet.
Kids was good, especially when they give that bloke a severe twatting with their skateboards!
I agree on Mischief Night and This is England. Top films.
Never knew Eli Dingle was such a cracking actor!
romper stomper is good, once were warriors in another cracker dont know if its been mentioned though
Once Were Warriors was about the Maories wasn`t it, and their penchance for a drink and a scrap!
Mischief Night was alright but not as good as Tina Goes Shopping.
Will I get greif for suggesting "BMX Bandits" - oh the memories!!
Dune, the originial not that made for tv shite
i heard kidulthood is good, district 13 has tricks that would make tony jaa cringe
Think i heard the sequal "Adulthood" is out now,Have you seen it?
BMX Bandits with Nicole Kidman, saw that at pics and about 20 times afterwards on VHS!
what about lost boys thats a cracker
peahead
"what about lost boys thats a cracker"
i dont think you get the criteria buddy, no absolute massive blockbuster box office sell out films can be classed as low profile!
oh yeah mate fair do's it was done same year i was born ha ha so werent too sure
Phil, I've got BMX Bandits on DVD if you need to rekindle some good old youthful nostalgia...
just riding you peahead, im not a c"nt really.

No probs. This thread has killed my afternoon at work, I've just been watching clips on youtube of all the old films. Must concentrate harder tomorrow..
Run Lola Run few years old now but was quite different when it first came out
Naoleon Dynamite is class & has me in stitches everytime
Copland
Lars and the Real Girl
The King of Kong (about geeks and arcade games, but somehow reminded me of my experience of martial arts in the UK)
In Bruges (hate Colin Farrell but loved him in this)
'A Room For Romeo Brass' is another brilliant Shane Meadows film, and 'Small Faces' is an excellent film about gangland Glasgow in the 1960s. 'Love, Homour & Obey' has already had a few mentions, but it deserves another as it's one of the best films ever made!
"Once were warriors" set in NZ
That was class! try dead mans shoes.
the warriors
that is a classic cheese fest, :-)
just watched dead mans shoes, it was ace the twist was brutal! bit of a tear jerker, really fucked up!
Great film dead mans shoes(good to see Gary Stretch in a Brit film) didn,t realise till last night that the slow lad in it is the singer in rocknroller another good film.
Also out this week on dvd The foot fist way about an inept taekwondo instructor
shot in an office Richie Gervais style, Very funny.
Dead Mans Shoes ace, one of my fave films ever. Funny as well when they are packing in the Citroen 2CV trundling down the street!
Get The Backwoods watched next, another one with Paddy Considine in.
Just bought Outlaw with Sean Bean, looking forward to watching it, looks good.
i watched a good one the other day about a fella in ireland who gets recruited by the brits as informer on the ira. I think it was called 50 dead man walking, not sure if it was a low budget but id never heard of it before
Little Miss Sunshine and The Darjeeling Limited. Both very funny films.
Only the Strong and Drive, both films with Mark Dicascos are wicked! Yeh Dead Man's Shoes is cool - I like the revenge at the end in the house.
"One in my Bedroom" lol

Watched the Outlaw film, was pretty good but a bit of a daft ending.
Watched The Departed last night, which I knoe was a huge film, but just wanted to say it was ace anyway!
Outlaw, isn't that the film with Danny Dyer?? If so it's quite a good film, all the more when he gets a pasting at the start LOL
Just downloaded a documentary, The Obama Deception. A conspiracy theory style film regarding the new 44th American President. Not watched it yet though.
It is mate, not bad is it.
I actually quite like Danny Dyer now, he has grown on me! Quite self-effacing when interviewed and doesn`t take himself too seriously.
City of God
Chopper
Gamorrah
the magican is a brilliant film its made like a documentry of a aurtailian hit man but its not aculy realy its a good watch. GONE BABY GONE also realy good just watchd chocolate its quite gd 2 :D

basketball diaries is really good. Leo is amazing in it
'something wicked this way comes' is an old kids movie that scared the shit out of me when i was little but very good.
'audition' a typically f***ed up Japanese film, weird and gave me nightmares but still had to watch it til the end
the ring films (japanese version) i blame these for me not being able to watch horror films now as i get so scared but they are amazing films just dont watch them alone!!
'the big nothing' with simon pegg & david schwimmer is good!
'the hunting party' with richard gere is brilliant!
'before the devil knows you're dead' with phillip seymoor hoffman,
also watched 'the debt' on the plane in december with Helen Mirren & sam worthington and its really good!
also, (its a tv series not a film) but 'Homeland' with claire danes is the best thriller tv series i have watched since 24!
