Hey Leif,

Hope you are well. I have seen the first run of the Warringtn DVD, and your bout looks fantastic.

I would say that of all your A.K.A. bouts, this was easily your best yet.

How is your training going for the World title?

I hope Master-Blaster McRobb is working you hard - as if I needed to ask, lol!

A heads up on the accomodation.

It is reccomended to book the rooms at as early a date a possible, as this hotel gets very busy, especially in the weeks leading upto Christmas.

Hi Neil

Looks like I don't need knee surgery just stacks of physio on the knee. Haven't ruled out December 8th yet.

Will keep you informed.

Thats good news regarding the knee.

Had knee problems myself, they can be real frustrating, especially if you are really into distance running.

The Birmingham event looks set to be a great finish to the 2007 season. The venue has a great atmosphere about it and I am already getting entries believe it or not - 10 weeks out!

Just confirmed a great rematch.

Gavin Rogerson ( Leigh ) -vs- Carlos Tait ( Altrincham ).

This will be an IKF British Cruiserweight Title DEFENCE ( O.S.R. )

-----

The two first met on the Manchester A.K.A. Event, July 07. Gavin won on that occasion. The second time they met was on the Warrington A.K.A. event just two months later when Rogerson made a title defence. On that occasion it was Tait who left the ring wearing the I.K.F. belt.

This time it will be Tait that will be entering the ring as the defending champion.

One win each, the third meeting looks set to be a great contest!

Sorry for not posting sooner regarding the DVD, as I have been practising my Castle building and Ice cream eating skills!

Adam usually has the DVD's ready in about four weeks - and the show was only the 15th September, so he is about on schedule.

I expect to have them ready to go anytime now.

If they had been ready any sooner, they would probrably not got to the gyms anyway with the postal strikes!

Will keep you updated.

Still hoping to build up the training for next season ( hopefully at Light Middleweight ).

Hope the show goes well on the 8th.

Leif Taggart - ( British Ranked # 1, Tee-Side ) -176

Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Neil Holden
Posted: 2007-10-26 13:05:46
Actually Leif, there was no mistake.

You are still ranked above Dale, as the rankings are in a League format and you have accrued more ranking points due to being more active.

Dale needs a title defence to go above you.

The 'Entries Page' is now open for those wishing to register early.

Note :those registered early will get priority over those that register late once we hit the 60 registrations.

eg. 3 athletes at 78.5kg with matching criteria ( Weight / Experience/ Height etc ) the two earliest entries will be matched.

Already on the first day - 4 weeks out, we have had 14 Entries!

What payment methods will be available for the online registrations Neil.

Will trainers be able to use paypal as once before or did that prove complicated?

Have the turkish team confirmed their attendance too!

Neil Holden
Posted: 2007-11-19 04:17:43
Not all of the Instructors that I deal with are happy with online payments ( personal preferance I suppose ).

So for this event the Instructors are to collect the entry fees for their school, and then either send a single Cheque made payable to the A.K.A. or make a single direct payment into the A.K.A. business account. This will be easier than tracing upto 100 different payments as happened in March, ( what a nightmare that was! ).

With regards to the Turkish team, anytime now they will 100% confirm. They are attending the IFMA championships in Thailand at the start of December and then coming direct to our IKF. They have not been to our Championships since March and are really looking forward to it.

I believe that Sukran is training hard for her bout with Laura as too is Zencir for his rematch with Lee, but I am confident that you guys will have your preperations spot on too!

Marianne,

The AKAs new Muay Thai format is without body protector, with head guard, shin guard, and elbow pads, judged by 3 judges as per regular Muay Thai, and is full Muay Thai rules, our Darlington show on Feb 23rd 2008 will include this format.

Would everyone please note the AKA will still be using the Olympic scoring format, and the Muay Thai format will be ran alongside the OSR,NOT as a repacement format.

Hiya Paul, this means that there really is something for everyone,

so will it be be novice am 3 x 1.5 OSR
senior am 3 x 2 OSR
titles am 4 x 2 OSR
and Muay Thai am 5 x 2 (MT scoring)
???
what a good range of choice for amateurs, i think it's great!!
paul pearson
Posted: 2007-12-05 07:18:48
Thats it Marianne,as far as im aware there is no chance on the OSR format, but the addition of MMA format and Muay Thai format gives as you say much choice for all amateurs.

Hope you guys are good in the toon.

One day to go and the event is looking pretty good.

International bouts featuring athletes from India, Iran and Poland.

Headlining the event will be
1 x World Title
2 x Inter-Continental Title bouts

Chief support to these will be
4 x British Title 'DEFENCES'!

We also have a IKF Junior British Title (MTR), that is being filmed for a Channel 4 TV Documentary

Also we have a Sport-Combat MMA contest, sanctioned through I.S.C.F. the sister organisation of the I.K.F.

On top of the Evenings entertainment...

Through the day, 2.00pm - 6.00pm we have Novice bouts running, to give the rising amateurs experience ( Spectator may attend these if they wish ).

--------------

The main event starts 7.00pm - 10.00pm, ( Bar and Food available )

Advanced tickets have almost all gone ( contact Steve for these 07866-365-963), but there are tickets still available on the door.

Starting at 2.00 pm - 6.00 pm
break 30 mins
Restart = 6.30 - 10.00pm

----------------

( Please note: The ladies World Title bout is off, as we could not find a suitable/available UK athlete at 55Kgs. We hope we can reschedule this bout at some point during the 2008 season.)

Great show, well done to neil and his team for all the hard work setting up the event.
Not sure of all the results as there was nearly 40 fights! There was onlt one sports combat fight, it was very exciting but only lasted just under 2mins.
I am sure neil will have all the correct results too.
Big thanks to my team of helpers and instructors who worked really hard all day!
Some great results for our K-Star team, don't want to miss anyone out, so I wont mention anyone by name, but you all fought brilliantly and myself and the Instructors are very proud of you all.
Looking forward to the next one.

Really enjoyed the show yesterday, well done to Neil and Steve for promoting and running the show.

There were some good fights especially the title fights,Lee Green VS Raf Hussain was a cracker.

Id like to say well done to my 3 boxers, Lyndsey,Graeme and Nathan,2 wins from three with Graeme hurting his ankle when winning,so i have to be pleased with them all.

Also a big thanks to all the officials, refing and judging can be a thankless job so well done everyone who officiated.

Hope to see you all in Darlington on Feb 23rd 2008,where as well as the 0SR we will have full Muay Thai rules on to.

Have a nice Xmas everybody and see you in the new year.

it was the first time i have actually seen what neil does, didn't get there till late & have to admit l liked it a lot more than what i expected!

the rules have accomodated the amateur concept perfectly with regards to using the experience as a learning tool within a safety net.

i was suprised by how many kicks above the waist were executed & enjoyed the low kicks & knee's without too much clinching. the rules are really simple & it all bridges the gap between f.c. & thai nicely. great for novices....

there were some cracking fights but from the bouts i saw, lee green & raf was my favorite - both fighters put on a great show, & i was suitably entertained!

thank you for your hospitality, the belts are also really nice!!

Stupid question or maybe not.... If we are doing AKA MT are we allowed to wear our own protection ie Twins..Sandee ect Thai Brands or are we still stuck on the MAR supplied equipment?

Congratulations to both Lee Green and Raf for giving us a great contest to finish off the 2007 season.

What a great contest, lots of technical work, and explosive action ( the knock down and the fight back! )

Hi Mr McRob,

The IKF Muay Thai Rules bouts on the A.K.A. shows will be under the same criteria as the O.S.R. format, being that the Amateur bouts will wear the equipment of the official sponsor for the season. This will also apply to the Sport-Combat MMA bouts.

M.A.R. have a three year contract that does actually expire at the end of December 2007. Currently they are in negotiations regarding the renewal.

Also had another leading brand expressing a serious interest, so we will see over the next 4 weeks! We have tried out the brand, and this all works well for the O.S.R. and M.T.R. yet they dont have MMA equipment quite upto the standard required, and if possible it is better to keep all the same in order to maintain as level a playing field as possible.

Sorry for all the replies coming late. Following the event I needed a recharge, plus we a grading to organise and the lst one of the year is always traditionally well attended as people want to finish the year on a high.

This has lead to people booking extra lessons, and we were absolutely bombed out already!

Looking forward to an easier few weeks now to recharge!

Best wishes to everyone for Christmas and the new year!
