B.L.C.B something we dont have?

BRITISH LIGHT CONTACT BOXING

excuse my ignorance but i dont feel we have this, i as a trainer teach and manage fighters from novice to world class pro.

the one thing that has always supplement my fighters skills is to learn to BOX. but there is no middle ground for people to learn, yes there is ABA full of politics, cans and cant do's, BBBoC has politics..

as thia or fc fighters many bounce around all styles with no real structure

in FC we have BLCC which gives young fighters to eperience a fight in the safest possible way.

so i have put together something for next year which will run along side my light contact kickboxing events, which will be BLCB

DIVISIONS WILL BE
MAX 2YR APART (under 18's)
MAX 2.5K APART (under 18's)
5K APART OVER 18 UNLESS TITLE WHICH WILL BE 2.5K

rULES I AM ALMOST FINISHED WITH

but basics

all will be amatuer and all will be light contact, KO may result in disqualification, i say may as walking onto a punch and someone trying to take someones head off is very different

insurance will be under martial guard

all fighters will have to purchase fighters licence of £10, no fight will happen unless both fighters hold BLCB LICENSE, which is under CFKA

all rounds will be 1.5 min x 3
titles will 2 min upto 5 rounds
(this will only be BRITISH LEVEL)
unless proves popular

head gear will be worn

Gloves
under 10rs 12oz
under 16yrs 14 oz
over 16yrs 16oz

all title fights will be 12oz gloves

a fiar middle ground to introduce fighters to boxing without the politics of cans and cant do's, a safe environement with strict contact rules where all fighters are insured

please dont shoot this down with shit, its something possitive but thoughts are welcome

Good luck with it, i think there is a good market for it especially with the youngsters taking part in boxing that don't want full contact head shots, etc...

Have Martial Guard only just started accepting boxing insurance ?

webiste will hopefully be completed by tommorrow night

there will be a simple link to attach you club to it so can be kept informed of events, there will be a rankings page of which will be updated on every event

each event will lead upto a championships for fisrt year will only run to English level, as we have clubs interested in liverpool, manchester birmingham and yorkshire

london and below need to put there inut in so can be included and not miss out,

northern ireland, wales and scotland are of course welcome and if it is supported in the first year the championships will be british

i am not holding an event at the end of the year with only english fighters on and calling it a british championships, i wish to start with credibilty and maintain it

the rules and fujndamentles have been divised, and of course happy to discuss

scoring system will be only shots landed will score, combinations will win over single shots, defended shots will not be scored as the the defence will be recognised. simple work rate or flayling on someones gaurd will not score points and will be a waste of energy

i am in mind to have a sytem in place i am unaware of

not 3 judges but 5

4 ringside with then one click counter each but each appointed to a blue or red corner, so everytime a punch or combo lands they will score each individual punch, they are only scoring one fighter so should not get confused between left or right hand at the end of each round right down the number of shots landed and the end of the fight ad all up overall amount wins

5th judge is the referee to which he/she will disqualify or end the fight for a reasonable breach of the rules or to simply protect the fighter

a scenario i wouild like to add into it is a round score system, to which is clear for all to view who is winning, example a flag system in which whether or not a round is won or drawn it is shown

an overall point score defeats the object of someone throwing bombs, or trying to ko with single heavy shots, so a ko will not win it, accuracy timing and defensive skills will

thoughts ?

sorry forget to mention,

why 4 judges?

well there is 4 sides to a ring, all the best will in the world 3 cannot see what 4 can, not shot will be missed!?

all scenior official will on a seperate table from the judges

how can this be a bad idea?

the defended shot will not be scored ? i dont under stand ,explain !!!!
dragonfoot
Posted: 2010-11-10 10:39:47
the person who does an effective defense will be recognised for effect defense which is a skill in its own!!!

the defender scores the attacker dosent, you throw something i block it you fail i succeed?!

Amateur boxing and skill bouts under the amateur code cover this Market. Sorry but it's already being done.

I thought skill bouts did not have a winner/loser ? I think this is different.
dragonfoot
Posted: 2010-11-15 03:56:18
its being done to a degree, but i have made ebquiries about my kids doing aba they are heavily fround upon for wanting to carry on with kickboxing, this is opposite as all are welcome from ever style, to help develop there boxing ability safely and allowed to carry on doing what ever style they want

ABA does not have this at all, some coached will turn a blind eye others dont, and ultimately the governing body does not condone fighting in any other art
Jimobob
Posted: 2010-12-01 17:06:30
Correct - skill bouts dont have a winner, however they cover the light contact eliment. Just not sure the market for this is what you think it might be. I dont see this as being a gap in the market, a requirement from people. It may have a good year or 2 but i cant see any longevity. Just my opinion, i hope it works out for you, but i have my reservations. keep us posted though.

The key is that it is open to all styles, where other bodies do not allow a crossover.

I have trained with many a MT practitioner whose actual boxing skills are negligible to say the least. Yes, they can knee the granny out of someone, but the boxing side sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.

I think it can work if it is sold as a stepping stone to improving boxing ability, especially for the up and coming MT fighters. I don`t think there would be a market for it for the A class lads and lasses though as there all round skills are already there.

their all round skills not there.
