Miriam Nakamoto vs. Julie Kitchen set for August18
The most anticipated fight in women’s Muay Thai is set to take place August 18th at Pala Casino & Spa in Pala, CA. Miriam Nakamoto and Julie Kitchen have signed to fight under the WKC Muay Thai banner this coming August. The fight has been over a year in the making and fans will finally get to see these two spectacular fighters tangle in the ring. On the line will be the WCK Champion of Champions title.
The bout was originally set to take place in December of 2010, but an injury to Kitchen postponed the fight which was then expected to take place in 2011. It seemed Nakamoto and Kitchen would finally be meeting in the ring when both signed to compete in the Muaythai Premier League, but a knee injury forced Nakamoto out of the league. With something occurring both times this fight was scheduled that forced it to be cancelled, fans need to keep their fingers crossed that the third time will be a charm.
Also expected for the fight card will be the North American Qualifier for the WKN Big 8 tournament in Belarus. One fighter from Canada, one from Mexico and two from the United States will compete for the slot to represent North America in the WKN Big 8 tournament later in the year. The fighters competing in the four man qualifier tournament are currently unknown.

big reach but Miriam is tough.....our Claire (haigh) fought Miriam ((Claire was sick and injured - not an excuse at all BTW) and said that even if she had been 100% she felt Miriam would have still won and probably stopped her later in the fight than she did (and Claire has been the distance with Julie a couple of times - one of which was very very close in our view)..... will be a very good fight in my opinion.... big win for Julie if she stops Miriam IMO
julie dosent generally stop anyone and dosent generally get stopped so i guess its down to workrate/strength and how the judges see it unless one gets cut.
Miriam is arrogant bitch hope Julie kicks fuck out of her tbh me and Andy met her in Los Angeles and she's vile not often I say that ever but she is horrible
it wont be scored properly if YOU get a papercut ull be stopped but if HER eye is hanging out it wont.
never met the girl so cant pass comment but her trainer is a complete tool proper arrogant tit, gives it billy big conkers then goes locks himself in toilet cubicle to change into mma shorts to corner, scared getting his little dry roasted peanut out
Actually I like her now...she was a nob complete utter tool and on Facebook saying that she was annoyed I wanted angie parr to win my reply was because you are a twat simple x
shes horrible honestly we all got on ace kappel whose here at Badco she just sneered at everyone and everything gonna stop looking at her pics though...lol never met anyone like her hope I dont again x
lol you guys talk about Americans talking with a loud mouth i think you guys are just as bad lol dont we post to be talking about the fight not shit????
I've met Miriam before at Kings Cup. She was pretty nice to me. She even gave me some of her food coz I was starving like crazy. She's a very good fighter from watching her live but so is Julie so it will be a good fight.
I reckon Lucy Paine would beat them both! Shes younger fitter hotter and has appeared in The Sun! Shes got a great team behind her with bags of experience but no world titles (yet). Please dont pull out because ive compared fighters and said one is better than another. X
Just read online that also on this show will be Tiana Caverly vs Jemyma Betrian, Hilary Mack vs Tiffany Van Soest & Lena Ovchynnikova vs Emily Bearden. Great to see some top class female fighters on these shows. Good luck to all the ladies fighting including Julie & Miriam. x
ash writes... reckon Lucy Paine would beat them both! Shes younger fitter hotter and has appeared in The Sun! Shes got a great team behind her with bags of experience but no world titles (yet). Please dont pull out because ive compared fighters and said one is better than another. X
i watch lucy v julie sparring nearly every day !!!! and yes lucy has a great team behind her, thank you so much for the comment.lol
looking forward to this match, julie only 3 weeks in and looking focused.her kicking strength was measured over the weekend and compared with a car hitting a wall at 60km.....nearly 50 male thai fighters and kickboxers couldnt match it...its on film as proof but i know video evidence means nothing nowadays :-)
Come on Julie! bring the belt home for Britain!
Queens, Jubilee, Olympics, Julie Kitchen Wins! (We won't mention football)all great stuff. Train hard, fight harder Julie.
come on nathan we need to see the full video of the before and after the kicking not just the kick and the results, means nothing lmao i have 1 word to say on this fight...

KITCHEN fights NAKAMOTO for WCK title
By Julien LANCHAS , Tuesday July 10
Fourteen-time Muaythai World Champion Julie Kitchen, 44-8, of Cornwall, England, will seek an unprecedented 15th world title when she meets undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) and current World Muaythai Council (WMC) World Champion Miriam Nakamoto, 14-0, of Dublin, CA, for the World Championship Kickboxing (WCK) Women’s Champions of Champions title in the five-round main event of a 10-fight international Muaythai fight card starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 18, in the Events Center at Pala Casino Resort and Spa.
Three additional women’s world title fights, a men’s title bout, a men’s challenge bout and a Big 8 North American Welterweight Qualifying tournament complete the professional card. A three-fight amateur card at 6 p.m. will lead off the action.
The main event will feature the two best female stand-up fighters in the world. Kitchen, known as the “Queen of Muaythai” for her 14 world championships, is recognized as the most successful female fighter ever in the United Kingdom. Nakamoto, “the Queen of Mean,” has won six world titles and became the first American-born female fighter to win the World Boxing Council Super Lightweight world championship when she knocked out Luxembourg’s Claire Haigh in the first round on August 21, 2010 in Haikou City, China in a WCK Muaythai event.
“This will be the best female fight of this decade,” said Dennis Warner, the president of In Sync Productions. “This will be the Ali vs Frazier of female fighting. Both of these women are recognized as the best stand-up pound-for-pound fighters in the world. n Sync Productions has been promoting female stand-up fighters since 1989, and Kitchen vs Nakamoto is certainly what the fans want and this fight won’t disappoint.”
In the other women’s title fights:
Tiana Caverly, 32-11-2, from Perth, Western Australia, will defend her World Boxing Council (WBC) Muaythai World Bantamweight championship against Jemyma Bertrian, 13-2, of The Netherlands.
Lena Ovchynnikova, 8-2-0, from Lviv, Ukraine, will meet Emily Bearden, 16-6-0, from New York City, USA, for the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) World Super Bantamweight title.
Hilary Mack, 19-6-0, from Glasgow, Scotland, will fight Tiffany “Time Bomb” Van Soest, 8-1-0, from San Diego, CA, for the International Karate Kickboxing Council (IKKC) World Super Bantamweight championship.
In the men’s championship action:
Popular local fighter Fernando “The Menifee Maniac” Gonzalez, 16-8-0, of Menifee, CA, will defend his WBC Muaythai USA Cruiserweight title against San Diego, CA favorite Dave Nielsen, 9-2-1. Gonzalez also is a MMA fighter who has successfully crossed over into Muaythai. The first professional bout will pit former World Champion Mel Menor’s newest sensation, Mike LeMaire, 1-0 in Muaythai, San Diego, CA, against Strikeforce MMA veteran Jerron Peoples, 0-0 in Muaythai, 4-2 in Mixed Martial Arts, in a special Muaythai vs MMA bout.
The Big 8 Tournament will feature four Welterweight fighters who will vie to represent North America in the Big 8 International Welterweight Championship in November in Minsk, Belarus, where fighters from eight continents will compete to become the international champion. The four competitors will be Raul Rodriguez, 19-6, from Bakersfield, CA; Shane Oblonsky, 9-3, from Westminster, CA; Joey Pagliuso, 13-3, Riverside, CA, and veteran Joe Davidson 8-2, Fontana, CA.
The four will draw a card from a 52-card deck. The fighter with the highest card will select his opponent and the remaining two will fight each other. The two prelims will be fought early in the fight card. The tournament championship will take place just prior to the main event.
hoostfan--you are entitled to support who you like.
you have no influence on our lives and are not even man enough to use your own name on your profile instead of a recognized fighter who you could only dream of being as respectful as..
ernesto would cringe at your attitude as he is a fan of julie and has supported her.
if miriam beats julie then i wont cry, as i know that as long as its a fair decision miriam must have done more in the gym to win which must have been a hell of a lot.
you claim womens mt is so rubbish so why look and comment on this thread.?
fact is. you wouldnt even deserve to sit in the audience and watch these 2 so please stop trolling and get a life x
lena has had alot more fights than 10 and jemyam is a wicked fighter iman was supposed to fight her 2 years ago but it fell through , good luck julie and nathan kick ass, sounds a wicked show
Just wondering when it says 15th world title, does that mean there are 15 organisations sanctioning World Titles or are these at various weights like Manny Pacquiao? thanks
4 different weights 62kg,63.5kg,65kg and 67kg. various orgs.
she has won 14 world championship fights losing only one, which happens to be this very title sanctioned by wck which has been vacated by germaine.
Sorry Nathan that's where my confusion comes from, winnning 14 world title contests wouldn't make her a 14 times world champion unless she had won the belt for the first time each time or regained the title after a loss.
Anyway that's a side issue good luck with Miriam fight.
according to facebook which i guess is more recent she's actually won 11 different world titles..thats awesome but i honestly dont know why you'd start with including defenses
11 world titles in a fantastic achievement but including defenses to bump up this number to 14 seems petty and undervalues actual acheivements..its almost as if its a tactic to bullshit and when you've won 11 different world titles you dont need silly things like that on your record..and thats why i think you dont see this attitude/approach in pro boxing

not sure on capital punishment but bsb was a promotion from a couple of years ago...they spent a lot of money and put on a good show or 2 but then went quiet
end of the day she has won a shed load of real titles and i was actually suprised how many she holds...no wonder nathan goes on and on..i hold my hands up and thought julie had won a handful of belts and it was defences that were counted as world titles...seems there's only 2-3 defence included in the 14 world titles
when you read about julie its hard not to admire her..its easy to bite and judge from nathans rants but tbh i dont know whats gone on behind closed doors becasue they do seem like a genuine good hearted, happy couple
personally i wish em all the best and apologise for any offense
How does a trainer turn so many Britich Muay Thai fans/fighters/coaches against their fighter???
Enter Nathan stage right.
Greatest respect for Julie but....
He even moans about not being on a show when the show has not confirmed 1 single fighter....
I have met Nathan and spoken to him on the phone and he is a genuinely good bloke. He has a passion for Muay Thai and his family and he is standing up for women in Muay Thai in what is predominately a man's sport.
They are a really great family unit and what a lot of people do not know and I hope Nathan won't mind me bringing this up, is that they lost their home because of their dedication to the sport and the lack of investment they didn't get back. Like a lot of people they have had their struggles.
They often say behind every man their is a great woman, well in this case behind Julie Kitchen there is a great man. A man who bleeds from the soul for his wife and kids, has gone through hell and back. Politics aside, Ax rants aside (justified or not) this man is one of our own, a part of the Muay Thai family, so cut him some slack and start backing him up.
Shame on those that feel the need to bully on here, stand up like men and know what you are saying is hurtful. What do you hope to gain from it? Does it really feel good to say bad things about someone, do you really mean what you say? Is your soul really like that. I am sure if you looked at it you would know that you are not really that nasty, why would you be?
Give Nathan and his family some respect, look at what he is doing for Muay Thai, for women in Muay Thai and what they have achieved.
Don't just get behind Julie on this, get behind Nathan too, he needs support, he drives Julie forward, they are man and wife respect them for this.
They are a part of us - a part of our Muay Thai family.
Now, I have given you a reason to have a go at me if you would like a nice diversion ;-)
I wasn't singling anyone out Paul, that would make me the same. I was generalising based on many peoples comments on here. People have the rights to an opinion just as if you have passed your drivers licence you have the right to drive. However you don't have the right to run someone over.
It's okay to disagree, disagreeing with someone's opinion is not personal. It is not becoming of a good character to attack someone on a personal level, it shows weakness as a human being.
It is very easy to be misunderstood on a forum, the written word is hard to carry tone and can often be mis-read as we like to see it.
If you write correctly you can SHOUT!!! you can 'Highlight' your words, you can make light of a sentence ;-) lol or be be condescending, if you really understand what that means.
Great Video Awesome go 4 it Julie and Team GREAT BRITAIN
Rule Britania ! :-))))))))))))))
ref: the Titles?
Yes it seams its actually 11
And i would say imo that 3 defenses are not another 3 World titles they are World title defenses ( successfull defenses i hasten to add, well done Julie and team )
That said...... and either, way she has racked and stacked those 11 various World Titles ( plus a load of other Titles leading up to the World level ) and has trained and fought all over the World with only a Quarter or less the resources than a Boxer or a MMA fighter, and with same... a quarter or less the Money or the FAME !
And thats a Shame :-(((
And its down to so many of us all holding it back and what a shame, coz if we supplied all that negative energy with ALL our great Positive Muay Thai Energy so many of us have got too !!!
Then the Likes of Julie & All our muay thai UK heroes Female and Male could be Mega stars and Multi millionaires ! They train hard enough for it and it would be so so so well deserved !
all you guys are worse than vultures let the women be they are all good fighters or they wouldnt be fighting why is it men love to dis the women when they want to do things like this if they are good at it let them do it you just worried women are going to take over from men lol sad just get a life and let them live theirs my daughter ha s started muay thai and i fecking hope she doesnt get all this crap when she gets somewhere in life so wrong rant over unlucky julie but you are still a champ in every way you have acheived so much in your life and your daughters can be so proud and look up to you ;0) and your not done yet ;0)
WCK Muay Thai was in full swing at Pala Casino in Pala, CA last night. The main event was the highly anticipated fight between America's Miriam Nakamoto and England's Julie Kitchen, and the bout did not disappoint.
Nakamoto and Kitchen had their full arsenal on display as they fought back and forth for five hard fought rounds. With all the build up leading up to the fight there was no let down and the fans were treated to a great fight. Both fighters answered the other's strikes with their own. The fight was extremely close and in the end the judges awarded Nakamoto the victory by unanimous decision.
In the night's four man tournament which was a qualifier for this years WKN Belarus Big 8 Tournament which is expected to take place in November of this year, Artem Sharoshkin took home the win.
In the tournaments opening round Sharoshkin defeated Joe Davidson by decision and Chris Culley defeated Raul Rodriguez to set up the tournaments final match up.
In the finals of the four man tournament Culley was evasive I'm the opening frame as he circled well and and kept away from Sharoshkin. In the second round, however, Sharoshkin was able to start connecting eventually earning a stoppage victory and the tournament win.
Jemyma Betrian and Tiffany Van Soest fought a back and fourth fight to a draw. In the second round Van Soest dropped Betrian after landing a spinning back fist. In the third round Betrian was deducted a point for striking to the back of the head. Despite the point deduction and the knockdown two judges scored the fight a draw and one judge gave the fight to Van Soest making the result a majority draw.
In another top female bout Lena Ovchynnikova defeated Kealani Vanderleest by decision. Ovchynnikova was able to out point Vanderleest and stay a step ahead in route to a unanimous decision victory.
Dave Nielsen defeated Ryan Madigan in a controversial KO in the second round. Through the opening round it seemed Madigan had Nielsen in trouble. In the second, Nielsen appeared to have swept Madigan. As he began to stand prop himself back to the standing position, Nielson landed a soccer kick to his head. It appeared that Madigan should have been considered down and the kick should have been deemed illegal. As of now, however, no official ruling has been made on the outcome being over turned.
Also on the card up and coming Mike Lemaire earned a second round stoppage over Miguel Cosio. Lemaire looked solid and the bout was stopped after some solid elbows and knees from Lemaire.
Results:
Miriam Nakamoto def. Julie Kitchen via Unanimous Decision
Dave Nielsen def. Ryan Madigan via KO in Rd. 2
Lena Ovchynnikova def. Kealani Vanderleest via Unanimous Decision
Jemyma Betrian and Tiffany Van Soest fight to a Majority Draw

Just reading through this post and some peoples negative comments.
Irrelevant of whether someone has defended a title 14 times or has 14 titles we should be celebrating the fact that for such a small country we have an amazing talent pool of fighters who are making a name for British Muay Thai around the world.
Julie Kitchen is a fantastic ambassador for the sport in general not just women's Muay Thai.
Why is it in this country we love to put people's successes down?
I thought Muay Thai was about, Honour and respect?
Well done to both Julie and Miriam for putting on a great fight for all who watched.
U can still have an extremely close fight but have a unanimous decision, unanimous just mean all 3 judges had the same winner but the scores may of been close
Julie is mint I was told by an American fan that he thought julie won it but I haven't seen it so I can't say all I know is she's a national treasure x
It was in America, not been funny, rude or disrespectful but the chances of it been judged fairly and on MUAY THAI criteria are very slim. Unlucky Julie, rematch over here maybe?? Settle the score! Doesnt need to be for a world title either, just fight and prove a point. X
well show the fight and then we can see.... i would say without a shadow of a doubt that UK judging is better than the US...purely down to our experience level.... we have lots of excellent UK judges who know the sport and how to score it as muay thai....
i wasnt accusing as the sport is getting exposure there - just would like to know as i am not familiar with the organisation whos belt they fought for and from previous fights i have seen from the US its scored with a bias towards boxing and agression rather than effect and muay thai criteria... lets hope we are all proved wrong and it was scored correctly.... its a big step forward for US MT if it was ....
God everytime a British fighter loses a fight against an American everyone says we should have won we was robbed judging was wrong, makes us sound like right whingeing bastards. Glad to see Julie has not been on here complaining. If you don't like the way fights are judged don't take the fights and stay at home. Unlucky Julie.
To be fair Julie and Nathan are saying it's fair do's so no controversy, and opinions will always vary.
Regardless of this contest though, Noel makes an interesting point as a separate issue. It would be good to see how Americans are judging MT now. Don't take it personally!
Thats good Julie showing her class and not moaning about the scoring. Some people just cant take losing.
They make up some of the stupidest excuses, its unreal.
6 o'clock elbows are banned in MMA. It refers to the elbow being delivered in a downward stile from 12 to 6. I only know this as I watched some on TV the other night and a fighter got warned for it. The commentators then discussed the said technique. Hope that helps.
Bad luck Julie.
Muay Thai is Muay Thai but would still be guided by any specific rules of that particular state commission in the U.S. Possibly that was one of them...
