Fight4C Christian Fight Ministry

before some of ye all start condeming this, please take time to read it.

1. this is not about religion - It is abouth Faith & Christian Beliefs..

some of ye will no doubt say you are atheists, agnostics etc, but from my research, there are plenty of believers out there. from manny pacquiao to our very own Katie Taylor, are all of deep faith and share it with us all after every fight. Even Tyson Fury gives God credit after every fight. i recall some time ago that after every fight in the ufc all fighters shared their faith when interviewed.

Now the Fight Ministry I am involved in is www.fight4c.com & www.badboyturnedgood.com

Bad Boy Turned Good:

Bad Boy Turned Good was primarily established out of the need to provide care and improvement services for young people whose actions presents a challenge in the ever changing world in which we live.

Those who benefit from our service include:

- young people who engage in anti-social behaviour
- young people with addictions
- young people who are homeless
- young people struggling with anger
- young people who have been removed from their homes
- young people who need a place on release from prison.

We believe in "Constraint Before Restraint" We also work alongside parents and families to help re-establish broken relationships or simply to help put boundaries in place around the home

we have a small residential home opened that is funded by my gym to help the youth.... through Thai Boxing, MMA, & Boxing

Fight4C Church is made up of passionate, genuine people who are all of Christian Faith. They are trained and prepared to provide pastoral and spiritual care to fighters, athletes, coaches, their families, clubs and gyms. We work hard to build genuine relationships within the sporting community and become a fixture here by
providing chaplaincy to clubs, teams, athletes and fighters.

There are many other parts of Fight4C because the same is true about the Sporting community. They are both diverse and ever changing because they have to be. This thing is huge and only getting bigger! It includes the Athletes & fighters, of course, but also coaches, trainers, managers, agents, gym owners, referees,
supplement/gear company owners, bloggers, fight press members, the fans, all of their families, and the list goes on.

Ultimately, we want to meet people where they are and help them with whatever it is that they need. It doesn’t matter whether it is a home cooked meal, a couch to crash on, discipleship, someone to officiate a wedding, someone to talk to over coffee, a sparring partner, spiritual guidance, help w/ a flat tire, prayer before a competition, or at times sponsorship.

Every day people pack their entire life into their car, leave everything that is familiar to them behind including their social/spiritual support system, and
drive to the next biggest town hoping to be the next big Sports superstar… We want to be here for them when they arrive! This is only the beginning

why do think that your belief system has any relevance to your sport? its only a sport.

what about Islam, if a Christian fighter beats a Muslim fighter , is that cos their God is better or more legitimate than the other one's?

Do you really think God/Allah/Jehovah/Buddha/Zeus has his mind on things as trivial as sport? Surely he should be out curing people of cancer, AIDS, hunger, freeing the innocent, accompanying the lonely, punishing the wrongdoers, the Omniscient,Ominpotent,Omnibenevolent supreme being...but No.

he does none of this.

Because he is a figment of your imagination.

Now,I'm quite fond of my penis but if i try and ram it down strangers throats i will get arrested.

which is what feel about religion.

Thanks for your opinion hawkman. It's quite obvious that you didn't read my line where I said it is not about religion but Faith. I am not on here to ram it down people's throat. But sharing my faith and programme that works with young people and adults.

Why? Because I know God is real

well, science always relies on proof and science also admits it can be wrong sometimes

faith relies on...um...

why should there be a dichotomy between science and god?

ps the christians, jews & muslims worship the same god.

The Muslims are very open with their faith praying up to 5 times a day, chanting in public and most young Muslims know the Quran inside out before they are a teenager. They are proud to be Muslim, the same with Islam and most denominations, but once you mention Christianity its a different story. We got to shut up about that......

Doesn't science counter religion though. The bible tells us that man was crafted from a couple of god's ribs....but science has proven that we evolved from primates.....etc.

I'll be honest with you Ross, religion isn't really my cup of tea but anything to engage young people with some of the issues you listed above gets a thumbs up from me. Good luck with it!!!

Science doesn't disprove god. It just leaves a lot of evidence making it seem less and less likely. By "god's" very nature, if he did exist, science wouldn't necessarily indicate that.

However, using this as reason for your "faith" seems rather weak to me. Call it "faith" if you want, it's a discussion about religion and im sure brian has rules on that so leave it out.

Now excuse me, I'm an immoral atheist and there's a porn site on the other tab awaiting my perusal.

No, you don't know that. You simply believe it without evidence, which is what faith is.

I spend a lot of my time on atheist/religion debate forums. Debating theists is something I take great interest in. There is a time and place for this kind of discussion, and that is not on a fight forum. Religious and political debates almost always get out of hand and tend to fragment the community unnecessarily. I banned those topics on Ax a long time ago (as stated in the forum rules) and it has worked out well enough so far.

Unfortunately, you've tied your faith to your gym, even referring to it as a church. In referring to it as a church, you've made the purpose of it more clear. Stating that it is about faith and not religion is a trick that I certainly won't fall for.

Nobody can discuss your gym without also mentioning the faith that is the basis for the gym. This effectively means your gym can't be discussed on this forum.

I'm leaving this thread up (though replies are closed) so my moderation stance can be viewed. The Fight Church (and the faith attached) is getting some free advertising here, so I'll balance that out with a TED talk from Sam Harris on morality from Science.
