James why is the fight "whack"??! And no disrespect at all to Matthew he is a great fighter and an "up and coming" 1 at that but for a start he isn't my weight 57kgs Matthew I fight 55 and I'm fighting 52.5kgs again in LA in September so why should I move up a weight to fight someone who is a British Champion with no where near my fight experience at what is coming to the end of my career in a few yrs?! Everything to gain for Matthew, nothing at all to loose, nothing at all to gain for me from that fight and everything to loose! Its a simple enough thing no I won't fight Matthew! There a lot more obvious opponents out there for him at his actual weight and he is going to do great but not at 55 and not against me! Luca has fought and beat a few people I have in the past so why not get it on!

Posted: 2012-06-12 05:22:10
Mathew could come down. No disrespect intended he would handle you even at the british level he is at. Luca is complete dog poo. Muay1 I'm entitled to my opinion you thick Brummy.
Muay1
Posted: 2012-06-12 06:37:23
And yet again another example of jm1985's immature posts. Try thinking about what you type before you press the submit button, being told I am thick by someone who uses the term dog poo in their posts can be seen as contradictive.

Keepin it to topic, I think this is a great fight and will be entertaining. Looking forward to seeing who dean James is lined up against too. Great venue this too.

Posted: 2012-06-12 07:42:06
Howson is a Legend in our sport, Mathew still has ALOT to do. He has looked technical against some average fighters,(iv not followed his career) but iv not heard of him fighting or beating any big names?.Just to say this is no disrespect to Mathew. Hes been managed well and i always get on with his team.
Andys been world level for a long time. No way would Mathew handle him. No way.
Theres a difference between look great against world class and looking great against British class.
Your entitled to your opinion though. Even if its pretty ignorant

The show looks mint yogi , Well done mate.
Ill try an get down , and bring a bottle of the goodstuff :)
AndyBC
Posted: 2012-06-12 08:17:59
You are intitled to your opinion mate and that's fine but Matthew "handle" me? Ok again he could not move down, I saw him at last weigh in and was a mess at 56. Something! None of that matters he hasn't fought my level, no where near infact! Aaron ko'd him in 1 round! Matthew is a great fighter, but he's not World level, say what you want about Luca but the fights on and we shall see on the 27th October and that's it for now really. How about we just see how the show pans out and look forward to a good show.
jm1985
Posted: 2012-06-12 08:26:17
Andy Your a great fighter I'm not saying that just Luca Roma is really pants. Was just trying to say, if you going to fighter under dogs. Shame to take a step back wards. Any way I won't say anymore good luck on your round the world fights. Muay 1 sorry you been a fighter your entitled to your a opinion aswell.

I dont think its about not liking ax its about Andy- a good fight fighting Luca- a not so good fighter.
It doesnt make sense. Andy says that he wont fight a british level fighter but he will fight an equivalent one from another country.
It will be a good stoppage to add on the record thats all.
AndyBC
Posted: 2012-06-14 18:24:39
Carl McMillan Ok this is not about me at all, so dont start making about me please. For a start i do not hand pick my opponents, i was asked if i will fight, and i will fight anyone who is put in front of me, but i will not take a step back to fight UK opposition i fight DT next weekend why would i step down to fight at a heavier weight against someone who isn't my level?? Again no disrespect to Matthew at all in fact, he will openly tell you i told him and Philip that he looked great in his last fight, and he did no taking that away from him, opponent wasnt up to his level then but he wasn't to no that, you fight who is there and thats that. Everyone saying Luca is this and isnt that??? I'd love to no how you all no?? Do you live in Italy yeah?? And have seen his fights?? NO you dont and havent, you've seen him fight once against Reece, and i'd like to point out Luca was brought over to face Dean James for that fight, but due to illness had to pull out last minute which is a shame, the Italians had sent him over to beat Dean. Dont get me wrong no way on earth that would happen at all, but the fact is if he's ok to fight Dean, then why not me?? How about for once in people's life they actually support there local uk fighters and promoters trying to put on good shows for a change and stop taking the piss and chucking abuse about?? Might be nice for a change rather than all been pathetic.

Adrian Maguire
Posted: 2012-06-15 03:26:46
You can only fight who is put in front of you.
Luca Roma is not in the same league as dean or yourself so It's just a pointless fight, or a fight just to get a new belt to pose in. Also dean James as clinical as he is has had roughly the same amount of fights as Luca so on paper was a fair fight, where you've had a considerable amount more than him.
All the best for the fight I predict a stoppage win for you.
Carl McMillan
Posted: 2012-06-15 06:12:03
I never said it is ok for Deano to fight the Italian, where did you get that from?
Id like to see Deano fight some bigger names now that he is world champion and after he beat you the second time. The Italian isnt very good and thats a fact.
jm1985
Posted: 2012-06-15 06:26:38
We have seen him fight not only reece. His on you tube and honestly he really is turd. Just think its the cheap way round to put bums on seats by the promotor. Not a dig as such at you.

Posted: 2012-06-15 09:06:46
adrian are you insane?? dean beat andy 2x so how is it ok for dean to fight just cos hes had less fights are you mental or what?
Adrian Maguire
Posted: 2012-06-15 09:16:42
Liam I'm not insane.
I didn't say it was fine for Dean to fight him, I said on paper It was a fair fight due to the amount of fights they have had.
Dean Ford
Posted: 2012-06-15 09:47:08
Good luck Andy, a British fighter! Yous wouldn't be slagging this guy off if he came out and beat Andy so give it a by! All the best mate.
liam badco
Posted: 2012-06-15 09:57:58
i bet your not that far of the same amount of fights as deans had would that be fair on paper? get what im saying?
Adrian Maguire
Posted: 2012-06-15 10:07:50
You make a fair point there Liam.
I'm guessing your judgement is made on the caliabire of opponents. And based on that judgement Luca should not be fighting Dean or Andy especially for such a prestigious title. Well that's my opinion whether it's valued or not.
All the best for it Andy.
jm1985
Posted: 2012-06-15 10:21:43
Adrian could fight dean that could be a possible match up ? Even Andy?
AndyBC
Posted: 2012-06-15 10:41:43
Adrian get a grip and don't write shit like "a new belt to pose in" tome won't even try to lie proper pissed me off that comment! As Liam points out Dean beat me twice so ammount of fights means fuck all! Myself, Damien, Liam Steve Wakeling and many other top UK fighters have fought top Thai's with over 150 fights more experience than us and beaten them. What a stupid comment that was! I don't care what Luca is like, he'll get the same respect off me that everyone gets and that's a hard training camp and me trying my upmost to stop him and take another win home! The belts nothing to me I've plenty of the fuckers to "pose" in thanks but its what was offered as a fight so its what's taken! Deal with it! And when I've destroyed him you can have a go and see how you get on against him if you like? See if he's so average then. How about instead of ypu saddo's spending all your time chatting shit again you actually back people! No wonder this sport never goes anywhere with the constant backstabbing and stuff.
-Jonno-

Good lucky Andy mate. Smash him
Adrian Maguire
Posted: 2012-06-15 11:19:23
What shit am I chatting? I posted an opinion. Whether you value it or not is your choice. Yes you will destroy him, I predict within 3rounds. I'll be backing you for that win. It's a safe bet. I fought this sport is about taking challenges and testing yourself. I've already expressed my feeling about fighting Luca to whom it matters as its someone I would like to fight.
Andy I'll be taking your advice and dealing with it.

JM1985 dean and Andy are not in my league so it won't happen. And rightly so.
liam badco

You 2 should know beter being world champions. Name calling saying he writes shit is very immature. I'm sure I'll get a harsh response to as yuo are very predictable with your passionate egos.

Not really sure why Andy seems to be getting so much stick on here, he s a great guy and one of the best and most exciting fighters to ever come from the uk!.......name me one top fighter in the uk who hasnt at some point fought someone who on paper isnt in the same league?...........when you look at the people Andy has fought over the years nobody can exactly say he looks for easy fights and whenever and whoever he fights he always gives 100 per cent!
Obviously a few people are just trying to wind him up but to say he s turning his back on bad company couldnt be further from the truth, he knows how much he owes Richard and Lisa for everything over the years and now this is a great opportunity for him to make a living from something he loves, you have to make a lot of sacrifices to get anywhere in this sport as its not the most financially rewarding so fair play to him amd i wish him all the best for it!

I think the problem here is nothing to do with Andy being a great guy but he seems to take any form of criticism to heart.
When ever there is an arguementon Ax or some kind of dispute, it generally involves Andy.
I'm sure he is a great guy but on the internet he comes across as unstable and insecure.
Please don't read into that comment. This is how it has come across to me as an outsider that has never met you in person.
I'm sure the fight will go ahead as planned so if you feel it is the right move then you have no need to justify it to anybody.

Andy is a pure warhorse who will fight anyone put in front of him, and has proved this many times, as far as the new gym goes good luck with it m8 and I'm sure all bad co will do there upmost best to support him, Richard Cadden opened his own gym and nobody moaned so what's the difference, Andy is a great guy and has flown the flag for British muay thai many times so what if its an easy fight he's had enough hard fights in the past.
Now can we get back to the topic instead of trying to ruin yogi's promotion

We all need to make a living, Andy sweat his blood for BC and UKMT.
I wish Howson everything he deserves , and hope one day our sport becomes big enough that the legends like howson dont have to come on forums to justify themselves to nobodys.

On a personal note , andy and deano were the two figureheads of my career when it went from nothing to something.a few other fighters too who know who they are too but, andy i have alot of love an respect for as a fighter and friend. But moreso as fighter, and thats saying alot considering our scandal nights out haha.

Andy is my hero, Ever since leeds town hall 08-9.And i hope we can stop giving shit to UK fighters and just back them like any other country would.

Smash him mate.
And if anyone wants to say im bias i am not from the bad co gym.
Just a fan.
Enough of this gay rant lol , If any UK fighter , even one i didnt like for some abborent reason was smashing it id back him.

It amazes me that Andy should feel the need to prove himself to anybody, for years he has fought and wanted to fight the best guys out there. He'd fight absolutely anybody without batting an eyelid so he'd never want an easy option, that's not his way! If people think its an easy win I guess that's just a complement to him. Luca is a confident guy and will come to fight believing him can win so I don't see what's the problem with the fight. Win lose or draw Andy is always good value for your money and this will be no different.

Looking forward to seeing who Dean and Tommy are fighting!

Ok so in response to all of the above! 1 I am no wanker but I have no care what all you no profile trolls say or think! As said by many people already (and people who matter I might add) I've proved anything I have to, fought and beaten top Thai's been lucky enough to actually ko the current lumpinee champion in 1 round when I fought him and many more so I've nothing to proove I've never backed down from fighting anyone put in front of me, never will and if a promoter offers me a certain figure to fight on there show then I will do so! In reference to all you no it all's out there going on about me "turning my back" on Badcompany and Richard please get a grip and your facts right! I've been offered the chance by a great/loyal friend in Yogi to make a living running a gym full time for him in Black Widow 2. Earning a regular income (a very good 1 I might add) and various other things which are part of my deal down there. How many people in this world get to make a living doing what they love?? Not many so im extremely lucky and thankful to Yogi and more so to Richard and Lisa and every single person at Badco who has made this possible by making me the fighter I am and lucky enough to be offered such a chance! Not that it is any of anyone's business but Richard has known about this since day 1 and I sat down with Mr Smith only last week and had the whole conversation and he is more than happy for me! He obviously doesn't want me to leave Badco as I do a lot there and help teach and with fighters etc etc but he understands the fact the is no real money in the fight game and its a great chance for me to not only make a better living for myself but also improve as a coach! And I will still be fighting out of the Badcompany name end of story! Now ill just leave it there and say a massive thank you to Reeco, Davy, Jamin and Liam etc sticking up for me but no need! Your all going on about 1 opponent I'm fighting this year, makes me laugh, yes I bit cause I'm passionate about my career, and the sport as a whole so of course I will when uneducated idiots are keyboard warrioring away trying to wind me up. And yes you have managed to do so congrats your all awesome :/ Now that's 1 opponent now let me point out I fight Damien Trainor again next weekend is that not a worthy fighter? Then 7weeks later Nobuchika Terrado in Japan, 4weeks after that rematch in LA with Romie Adanza and 3weeks after is Luca fight! So those opponents not good enough either then?? Yes they are more so! Now I won't be coming on again so say as you wish. I'm happy with my career, my fights and everything I have ever done and will continue to do like it or lump it is your problem. Whenever I have encountered andy on the fighting circuit he has been nothing but a gentleman and his new gym is very lucky to have him and I have no doubt it will be collecting belts very quickly. If we had more like him maybe as a sport we would have progressed and have become more mainstream and therefore the fighters getting the pay days they deserve.I wish him all the luck, but I am sure he will not need it as skill, hard work and dedication will get him and his fighters there. To his haters I would say jog on,but watch you dont have a heart attack :>) that would not be nice and will cost the NHS millions in bariatric bed hire.

Looks like there will be some serious talent once again. These black widow shows are looking pretty damn good, might be worth sitting in that famous Birmingham traffic for ;)

Good luck de Andy in the fight and the gym move. Be interesting to see your fighters coming through.

Good luck with the show yogi!

I think that some of the posts above are a disgrace and display the people that wrote them as either ignorant or idiotic.

This is a forum about sport, so obviously there will be differing opinions and some are more valid than others -but everyone has a right to their voice! just seems pretty sad to see people take 'shots' at champion who they ave paid to go and see!

Live and let live I guess, but some of that shit was a joke!

Real question is yogi actually gonna have all the fighters he advertises or is he gonna bum people out of a decent line up as per? An interesting question is why are the bad co guys a little insecure about any criticism? Maguire made a decent. Point nothing wrong with that yet you gang up on him for having an opinion? Why? If howson loses to Damien trainor he probably has the Luca fight as a back up to get confidence back up a steady fight that isn't high stakes? Who knows?
liam badco
Posted: 2012-06-17 18:12:11
eh he had a sly dig with his comment "just gettin a belt to pose in" that is a sly dig simple as that... and hoswon fighting terado and romie before luca so what are you on about??
JazzyJay
Posted: 2012-06-18 07:30:05
Apologies through all this I forgot he has two fights lined in the meantime. And well the general consensus is that andy probably shouldnt bother fighting Luca as his classes above him so in theory it's people rating andys ability not putting it down. Best thing if andy wants to show he is a top guy Jst back to Thailand and fight week in week out for a few months. Best way to show people who's the best. On another not though back to show yogi should be looking to match dean James with rungravee that would be a very good fight. Or at least a real Thai who can compete unlike that one he fought at the gate crashed which was abit appalling by all standards.
kam_boxer
Posted: 2012-06-18 07:37:49
if andy is talking about not turning his back and wants to earn a living...why not make a badco 2...another branch and teach instead of going to a diffrent gym? Am sure thats more loyal then what your doing now andy.

kam_boxer
Posted: 2012-06-18 07:42:34
and liam...i dont think..posing in another belt, is a dig...its the truth. Doesnt matter if you have a amatuer belt, or a world title belt. It means naff all. This isnt boxing or mma (ufc) where belts mean something, and leads to big big pay days...people dont know andy apart from few thai boxing fans. He is irrelevant (not in a disrespectful way) but people outside of ax forum and small thai community do not know you, liam or any other champs..so financially...whether you have a amatuer belt or a world title belt..your still in the same situation. So apart from posing (and maybe fighting for the love and challenege of it) you no better off fighting for world title or amatuer title.

Ok to put some matters straight on here:

Andy will be coming to Birmingham to run a new gym were opening here in Birmingham, myself and Dean James will be staying at our Ward End branch.

Andy will fight Luca regardless of whatever any of you say, if there is anyone out there who would like to fight either Andy or Dean let me know and we'll get it on.

Luca is well experienced, hungry and young and coming off a string of wins against top fighters like Reece Crooke, not a easy task for anyone.

Dean James will be fighting a top level Oriental fighter on this show, which I will be announcing shortly.

Promoters need to give Coville a chance!!????
Coville needs to stop pulling out of fights and fucking up the promoters.
When he stops doing that then people might take him serious on the British scene and until then no one will give him the time of day.
Who cares if Andy takes the fight with the Italian, it's just business. If he is opening a gym in Birmingham then he needs to look good in Birmingham.

57kgs is too heavy for me now really, ive made 55kgs without sauna for the last 3 fights and fighting at 52.5kgs in September i would do the fight with Lee but to move up weight would need to be a promoter willing to pay me really good money tbh.

if you could do then that would be great ,your a great fighter and i would like to see you and lee because of you agresive style so if there is anbody willing to put this fight on there it is go for it , thanks

Feel sorry for the promoter this thread is Being diluted. Andy is one of the greatest UK fighters ever and a fighter I've always looked out for (results, fight footage, ect). He has a chance to make money doing something he loves so why not take the chance? If I was in the same position I wouldn't hesitate, and I'm sure others wouldn't too.

As for matches for Dean James maybe put the Meleady fight on since it was cancelled it Main Event? Just a thought like.

Posted: 2012-07-03 18:07:22
When Western boxers win titles in hard fights, they usually defend a couple of times against "easier" opponents to keep sharp and keep the ring rust off until the next BIG challenger comes along. Andy's fought DT and will be fighting in the U.S and in Japan against strong opponents before he fights an "easy" (your words, not mine) opponent in Luca.

I put the words "easier" and "easy" in quotes because it's happened loads where boxers have underestimated their "easier" opponents and got smashed up. Buster Douglas V Mike Tyson anyone? There are no real easy fights is my point.

Too many quotations makes me look like a right arse. Ha ha.

Yogi always puts on a great show - the card is in its early stages... wait and see!

I'd love to see James France V Tim Thomas - that could be an interesting match.

Loz Riley V Isaac James - I think they could match up in terms of weight, too... similar experience, both great up coming fighters etc I think that could be a really entertaining match.

If you can get a match for Matthew Tieu that would be ace, I really enjoyed his fight on your last show. I can't think off the top of my head who I'd match him with, though.

Dutton looked very big next to Cooper on Saturday but then so did his opponent and he soon chopped him down, quite literally with the vicious leg kicks.

The fact is I contacted Evgeni the Belarussian trainer/manager today and he said he didn't know the fight off. (several hours after it was public on here).
I made my comment after having long chat with Dean today so I have all the information thank you.

I was trying to move the fight for Dean to another show so that he still gets to fight in this time period.

The date and venue have been changed but it will still be a great show.

Like a lot of promoters recently Yogi has had to suffer from pull outs, disappointments, low ticket sales and a multitude of let downs and yet still manages a great show. Steve Logan suffered badly on his last show for all of the above reasons and like-wise still pulled off a great fight card.

I remember Dan Green having a couple of hard times too (I am being conservative Dan lol)and again he managed to put on great shows

We don't see behind the scenes and the months of preparations and organising that these promoters have to do. The amount of last minute let downs, adjustments that they endure.

The same as the fighters who sacrifice their time through rigorous training and dieting only to be told the fight is off. It's tough for everyone.

I for one take my hat off to all the UK promoters & fighters, it can't be easy, so lets get behind these guys and support them. Give X-Factor & strictly a miss and buy your tickets for these shows, and before anyone says it, no, I am not on any commission for writing this.(but donations would be gratefully received)

I wasn't having a go about the card changes I was just asking if the McCormick fight had been cancelled too as I don't recall seeing anything about it being cancelled but it's not on the updated line up. I just wanted to know if it was on or not?

The K-Star show the other week was still great even with the dramatic line up change.

ha ha fair enough, it can be a bit of a mine field writing on here without upsetting or pissing people off, so incase what I wrote came across as a slur on the promoter I just wanted to clrify :)

Iv been to loads of international shows where the opposition have been crap but fair play these italians really came to fight, bout of the night for me was Gurt v Luca, that lad beat Reece Crooke on his last trip over and the two of them had a war, swinging both ways til the fourth when Gurt really took control and had a brilliant fifth for a well deserved win.

Well done yogi on putting it all together was a good night

Thanks for all the feedback I've had on this show guys, phone hasn't stopped all week!

Thank you to everyone who supported us including fighters, trainer, officials, photographer, MC, Video team and our own guys who worked really hard on making this show a great success!

Unfortunately Jason Dutton pulled out from the fight last Thurs night, which I know our lad Chris Cooper isn't happy about, but if anyone requires a good Super Heavyweight B Class or K1 we're game!

Many Thanks,
Yogi
