dear dirk,

I think we have to remember "brilleman"...(at his time he was one of the pioneers in holland...)according to my understanding, if he would be in life , he would not let the first place to anyone so easy during his fight carreer...

do you have any pictures from him?...
martin

Vathorst was my favourite.

dear dirk,

and also "muzaffer yamali" ...he was an excellent fighter..

however, I see that most of the pictures of the fighters brought by you are belonging to the still current fighting people...

I have never seen Lobman fight, but I have read interviews. Was he as good as he seemed to say he was?
Also remember the vicious ko Orlando Weit received in UFC?
Great photos and makes you think how many great fighters have come from Holland.

Weit also delt out a vicious beating in the first UFC. He elbowed a guy half to death.

Brilleman was a fantastic fighter. If I recall, he beat American Howard Jackson in his last fight and then was killed in a bar while working as a doorman. Who knows what hights he would have reached had he lived.

do you know why the dutch fighters were superior then the others and started in actual kick boxing and thai boxing?...

ı think due to one simple reason :"effectivness&domination of kyokushin karate at that time in holland!..(bluming's efforts in kyokushin...)"

although most of the kyokushin guys never and still not accepting the reality that the kicks, blocks, knees are derivated from "muay thai", it is correct that they have taken from this discipline and put to themselves...so, it was easy for most dutch pioneers to switch first to kick boxing with low-kicks (japanese type, kurosaki gym )...as example ,if ı am not mistaken "lucien carbin" was an excellent kyokushin fighter...

dear dirk ,
ı think ı am old enough and we have some friends also in turkey ...for your information, in turkey the thai boxing and kick boxing (with low kicks) picture is mostly impressed by the dutch fighting conjecture...there is of course a governemental kick boxing federation (tied on boxing federation) without low kicks...however, there are also two serious gyms in muay thai and kick boxing from 1980's still and we try to improve in a -class fight spirit , although there are many various troubles...(of course, in the dutch standarts, not watered down segments like seen everywhere...we know it is not so easy , but we will try our best...)

by the way, ı think van oss and faisal karakuş should be also remembered ...(not correct?)

marry christmas ....

Great shots Dirk,Holland was definately the pioneers of the sport in the west thanks to people like Jan Plas,Thom Harinck and Voss.
My favourite Dutch fighter would have to be Rammon Dekker, he inspired me to take up the sport.

a dutch bloke, colin masseurs, fought here in the uk last year, any relation??

What state is mt in holland at the moment??
I'm not clued up at all!! (as per usual!)
I know the dutch were for a long time considered the best outside thailand, but they seem to be "one of the best" now. No longer outright leaders. Well, from what i hear anyway.

Whats the history of mt in Holland??
Who are the top guys and gals there at the mo?

I've heard of Meijero, and Vos, what other camps are reknowned for their top quality fighters??

You got any pictures of vincent swaans??
I have few, but another couple wouldn't harm my collection :-)

toot toot.

dear tootslek,

ı think the conjecture in holland has gone deep interested in k-1, since there is a good award waiting ...so,if you consider also that the dutch people are big enough for this game, you ll easily trace the reality that the famous trainers are giving the most emphasize to k-1 rather than other competitions in less weights..by the way, ı think that the dutch people have been getting satisfied too much and the interest is going a bit down in publicum..
however, we have not to forget that the substructure of mt and kb is very well in holland and it will be not so difficult for them to incline the level again , if there is a good award waiting in other classes, as well...

So basically, there is more money in K1, so the promoters/trainers are pushing the heavyweights to K1, and not spending so much time on pushing the smaller mt fighters??
