Anderson Silva is damn impressive.

He is currently the best ever based on his accomplishments. There is no doubting that.

Oddly enough, skillwise, I don't think he is the best. He has a major flaw in his game. I think about what Jon Jones would do to him if they fought. He would surely take Anderson down and do far worse than what Chael did.

One major advantage Anderson has is a serious chin. Here is a video demonstrating this.

Here he is toying with a boxer who is trying to take his head off in sparring.

I think his bjj is underated and he would beat Jon Jones but only cause of his experience,in time Jones will eclipse him and is a legend in the making..

So far, when Jon Jones gets in a top position on anybody, he causes damage pretty efficiently. His reach alone allows him to land elbows where other people are usually throwing punches. His opponents have trouble controlling his posture because of his length.

If Jon Jones got the position that Chael had on Anderson (not even the mount, but the half guard) I don't see how Anderson would be able to defend well enough. From what I've seen of Anderson's guard, he would just take punishment. He doesn't employ techniques to get up from the guard. He doesn't appear to be proficient at sweeps.

Shogun is no slouch on the ground and look at what Jones did to Shogun from half guard. That hurt to watch.

im prob the only person who kinda wanted Chael to win
Anderson knew EXACTLY what was coming this time round and in the first round he got zero punches off, taken down and scored on.... Chaels silly backfist was his downfall... guy sells tickets thats for sure....but he backs up his OTT trash talk...came straight out, zero respect and puts Anderson on his back....warrior.....

I agree with Brian if Jones takes Anderson down then its good night, he will smash Anderson up

Apparently Chael is appealing (prob over the knee) and its in the UFC interest to do it again

plus Anderson was blatently rubbing vas all over his self...Phil Nurse got in shit for doing this to GSP but anderson does it and no one cares...

In short, YES ! Silva is the best ever.

In time however, Mr Bones may overtake, but as stated above, Silva's accomplishments speak for themselves.

I reckon chael could beat anderson - he clearly displayed the skills in both fights. Dunno what the hell that stupid backfist was about.

Jones would be in a similar position i think.

No way mate, Chael has had his few moments. Silva is just pure quality, I say Silva would beat Sonnen 9/10 times.

well he was getting pounded in the first fight then won due to chaels mistake and spent most of the 2nd fight getting bitched as well until chael done something just ridiculously stupid and messed up lol

Won't disagree with that as it was evident. Also what was evident was that Chael's techniques were not good enough to finish Silva, and in their last bout Silva looked like he improved even more whereas Chael looks like he has faded slightly.

Honestly, Anderson Silva has a lane of his own. He is definitely going down with the greats, with that said, anyone can be beat. I don't see that happening but there's always that possibility. Anderson Silva the great
