The Main Event- Harrison vs Wootton -7th June 2014

Following the success of our sold out event earlier this month, we are pleased to announce the next big step forward for The Main Event brand.
On 7th June 2014 the USN Bolton Arena will play host to the first of our arena shows. Capable of holding up to 5000 spectators, the arena has hosted many high profile events over the past few years, most recently WBA World champion boxer Scott Quigg’s fight vs William Prado in the Summer.
The card for this show will surpass any that we have previously seen and features, as always, some of the very best fighters in our sport.
Today we announce the first of many headlining fights penned in for this show.

65kg A Class – Greg Wootton (KO gym, London) vs Liam Harrison (Bad Company, Leeds)

This bout pits two of the stand out names in U.K. Muay Thai against one another in a fight that has been on the cards for a long time.
KO’s superstar Wootton boasts a record of 28 wins from 30 fights and is known for his amazing technical ability and slick fighting style. He has beaten the who’s who of Muay Thai names in the U.K including Panicos Yusuf, Paul Karpowicz and Luke Turner and is the current WMC MAD World Title holder.
Other notable scalps for the Londoner include wins over Thai champion Prathet Sor Thanikul and World champion Andre Kotsur. In addition to his impressive collection of Muay Thai wins, he has also competed several times under kickboxing rules and recently picked up the Enfusion World strap.
Harrison is coming off the back of a brilliant win over Frenchman Dylan Salvador on The Main Event earlier this month and has a busy start to 2014 planned. With more than 90 fights on his record he has long been considered one of the very best fighters on the planet, competing at the highest level for many years. He holds wins over countless Thai champions and recorded a spectacular win over Andrei Kulebin on our first The Main Event show in 2012, stopping the Belarussian in 3 rounds.

The excitement surrounding this fight alone has already reached fever pitch in the short time since it was leaked and we have already taken many orders for VIP packages and tickets!
We have many top level fights agreed for this event which we will release over the next couple of months.
Tickets will go on sale in December!

Harrison should comfortably have this and I'd back him for the TKO win.

Big step up for Wootton when you think about the resume of Harrison.

How great is it that 2 fighters of this level can square off domestically ,this is where the future of gb shows lie- greg stepping up a weight is example of an ambitous fighter who dosent intend to sit back and avoid matches- maybe the card could feature lucy defending her no1 spot as well if any of the girls are brave enough :-)

Greg is talented and courageous will always try to fight the best fighters out there.

Liam has a mountain of experience fought against the best in the World and has been untouchable in the UK at his weight for some time now.

The way the betting's going, I'm surprised no-one's offered any odds.

With seven months to go and Liam going up against Kaew Fairtex, Damion Alamos etc, kind of shows the gulf on paper. Be interesting to see who Greg fights in the mean time, if he steps up and puts in decent performances against higher level competition then we will no where he is really at.

This is one of the most excited Ive been for a domestic bout in a while. On paper Liam has far more experience and against tougher opponents but so far Greg keeps beating all put in front of him - you cant do more than that. Credit to Liam for taking the domestic fight people asked to see when he could easily of sat back and continued to challenge the best of the rest. I think this is a real step up for Greg and the outcome will shape how he is viewed internationally. Thats a lot to fight for.

To be fair, there haven't been many fighters close enough to challenge Liam.

Don't forget not many people gave Greg much of a chance of beating Luke Turner. That victory is probably what opened the possibility of a fight with Liam.

Though it's understandable that Greg is the underdog given the quality of opponents that Liam has fought.

I would like to see wooton in a rematch with both Turner and panicos yusif. IMO, which I will readily admit can be wrong and very often is I think he'd lose both those fights. I dont mean instead of the Harrison fight, I mean sometime in the future. This isnt a dig just a fans observation. I think Greg Wooton is an excellent fighter.

What makes you think that greg would lose both of those rematches? The first fight with panicos was not remotely close, although he has supposedly improved so has greg imo. I think he would best them both in a rematch and wiuld beat turner more convincingly second time around
matthew goulden
Posted: 2013-11-17 10:32:49
You may well be right. I thought in the Luke Turner fight that Luke Turner looked far more skillful and posessed greater tecnique all round but lost through lack of power and fitness, looked like he was just ground down with Wooton's relentless strength and fitness (just my opinion based on the footage (I don't know any of the guys so could be talking right out of my arse). Based on what Iv see only watching fights (again I don't know any of the guys I'm talking about I think Yusif is a far better fighter than he was on that day.I think he's for me the best at the weight (61kg?) in the country. His skills timing and technique are excellent. But again this is just an opinion based on nothing in particular. I'm just a fan so not speaking as a the font of all knowledge! I think it could be agreed that both of those fights would be popular for the fans? Im not trying to right Wooton off obviously he's an excellent fighter and a huge prospect for UK MT.

It has to be pointed out that I said over and again that Rungravee would anhilate Pornsonae and look how that worked out!?

To be honest I didn't see the attraction in this fight first time I saw it but having spoken to a few fighters and coaches the feeling is Wooton may not be as big an under dog as I first presumed, someone mentioned above between now and fight time Liam is fighting some top top lads in Kaew fairtex and obviously Alamos, those results will effect the perception of this fight IMO. Be very interested to see what Wooton has lined up?

I'd love to see panicos v o'conner on this one to
sagat1977

matthew goulden - you only ever look as good as your opponent lets you and against Greg, Panicos certainly didnt look great. I'm certainly not suggesting he's not an amaizing fighter but I was at the fight with Greg and I didn't see anything, on that occasion, that made me think it was close and I'd like to see a rematch. I think they have both improved since then but its not at the moment one one MY most exciting matches.

I was also at the Turner fight and I thought that was much closer. Greg is usually very strong in the clinch and it was interesting to see Luke take him down a couple of times and I though he was doing very well. At some point Greg landed a VERY solid elbow from a continuation that changed the direction of the fight. It would be interesting to see how the fight would have panned out if that single shot was removed from the equation as Luke did look strong. But, Greg also had to fight through a horrendous early cut and it may also be interesting to see how much better he could of done if that telling elbow hadn't of landed - either way, a rematch here is a far me exciting prospect, for ME.

One thing that was interesting watching the Luke Vs Greg fight was how similar they both were. Almost identical in height, physique and even style. I think this leaves Laim with an amaizing style-specific sparing partner in the camp. Greg will find it much harder to find a Liam replica to train against. I wonder if that will make an impact in the final result.

Either way, although Greg's is an underdog on paper, I wouldn't write him off and I cant think of anyone better deserving to take on the UK's top Nak Muay. And again, I think Liam deserves much applauds for accepting the domestic match which could easily of been swerved. A great match - I cant wait for the 7th June.

as i said , liam will win by KO,
i have every respect for greg,
but I remember betting and backing Liam against Saenchai for their number 1 many years ago,
He is the UK 1# and imo the best we have ever produced.

it seems like forever ago i bet in Liams favour, and IMO
him fighting Saenchai X3, Duwao, Numphon PK, Sakkedao X2 , Phetwasin X 2,
Almos (by then), Salvador, Kuleubin, khamal, amrani, (i could go on)
will just serve him far too well,

Inbox me if you want to bet, i don't see anyone in the UK beating Liam before he retires

why dont promoters just put these fights on , wooton v turner, wooton v yusuf, they are big fights that would attract big crowds, dont understand in the uk why fighters carnt seem to get rematched, in thailand fighters will fight several times 6 maybe 7 to determine who is the best, everyone can have an off day and some fighters need a fight to work out their opponent, has to be better than them fighting inferior opponents from abroad

it has to be the best and fairest way to determine who is the best fighter in each caterory also,

i think liam will have a much tougher fight than people think, but on paper he should win

when and who was the last uk fighter that liam fought, it seems so long ago !!!

ive asked for the rematch with greg numerous times but his camp feel its not the right time to take a rematch with me, a few promoters have asked for it and its on their side that it isnt happening. so for the record as long as its not happening thats nothing to do with me. i say get the rematch on but up north. Greg was stronger than me and very fit. my fitness let me down but i did train very hard for the fight which is credit to how fit he is . The ''solid'' elbow in r4 which changed the fight was a massive FOUL. the referee jesse saunders even messaged me apologising for making the wrong call when the footage finally went on youtube. I think if this wouldnt have happened, then i was starting to look the stronger in the fight. Im not saying i would of won cos anything could have happened r5 cos it was a close fight, but i wouldnt have been wobbled by a foul and would have had much more in the tank in r5 .
thats off topic thou, i think liam is far far too good for greg and will win what ever way it goes points or stoppage.

Luke:
I definitely remember thinking that elbow was a turning point in the fight and, if it was a foul, that was a real shame. I havn't seen the fight since watching it live - what made the elbow illegal?
It was a thrilling fight to watch and I'd certainly buy a ticket to see a rematch.

Respectfully Greg i was there. closer than most save for your own team. I do not recall a foul. Surely Richard would have lodged a formal concern had a foul been committed?

I do think a rematch would be a great spectacle. And sell tickets. I really dont think location matters.

Yeah caught teep and ploughed me into rope with about 6 steps. The rule is 2 and hit or let go. Not holding it against him or anything in the spur of moment you dont think im sure he didnt even realise he did it. But the ref should have. Its in r4 and up on youtube for anyone who disputes/doesnt believe.

Luke. Like you said, it was the heat of the moment. The saying "protect yourself at all times" springs to mind. Not been nasty but as a fighter you would probably done the same. He took advantage of a situation presented to him. Who is greg fighting next, he needs at least two big fights before Liam
zebedee
Posted: 2013-11-22 00:03:02
At the time it happened, I honestly thought it was only 2 steps and that Greg threw Luke into the corner and then landed the elbow. When I watched the footage, I realised that I made a mistake and that it was 5-6 steps.
I knew that this upset Luke, and as he said, I did message and apologise for my mistake.
Any one who knows me, knows that as a ref, I have always been very honest with fighters, and myself and that if I do make a mistake (thankfully, very rare) that I will hold my hands up to it, and I will learn from it.

We will all never know if that incident actually would have changed the final decision or not. Greg and Luke put on a fantastic fight, which still is one of my most favourite domestic fights.

Sorry I meant to write respectfully Luke. Not Greg. Typo. However; I'm not sure 2 extra steps in the middle of what was the most exciting fight had an impact on the outcome. And without a doubt that fight was worth the entrance fee alone.
TINO
Posted: 2013-11-22 08:58:50
Im a huge wootton fan and i was rooting for him to win, but of course the foul made the difference. Without the extra 2 steps he wouldnt of landed the elbow and that was the game changer in the fight, it gave greg the momentum and had luke rocked for a few seconds. It was shocking he made it to the bell after that elbow.
Dave Croft
Posted: 2013-11-22 09:16:28
Honestly for me it was a great fight and disecting it in this fashion dilutes its impact in my opinion. So am keen not to get drawn into a debate that at the end of the day is a matter of personal perspective. That said the elbow in question was indeed a strong technique. But there were many other techniques that went towards the decision.

If the referee retrospectively acknowledges his oversight then fair enough. Had the blow resulted in a KO then it may be relevant. But it didnt.

accidents happen, it was the first time and not obvious that it was done on purpose so if it was a ko blow or luke couldnt continue i would think he would have lost, that said id deffo like to see a rematch and believe luke deserves 1.

I dont think greg did it on purpose either.hes not that kinda guy. Just went with the flow of the fight like anyone would. But I do think that elbow changed the last 2 rounds of the fight. Hopefully a rematch is there somewhere down the line cos regardless of anything else it was a cracking fight and isnt that what people are after seeing?;)

61.5kg A Class FTR – Darren O’connor (Thai Style, Liverpool) vs Panicos Yusuf (Superpetch/All Powers, Stockport)

Our second fight sees U.K. ranked #2 Panicos challenge the current number 1 to determine who is the best lightweight in the U.K. This is a bout that the fans have wanted for some time and is a fantastic addition to The Main Event bill. Darren recorded the 22nd win of his career yesterday with a comfortable points win over a Spanish champion. He holds both the ISKA British and ISKA European titles and has beaten many of the top names in the U.K. including Keith Mclachlan, Jonno Chipchase and Paul Karpowicz, as well as recording wins over Thai and European opposition. His record currently reads 22 wins, 9 losses and 1 draw.
Panicos featured on our The Main Event – Straight To The Point show earlier this month, beating Scotland’s rising star Chris Shaw on points. He is regarded as one of the best fighters in Europe and has proven his talent on countless occasions, with wins over Ireland’s Josh Palmer and Thai champion Prathet Sor Thanikul on his impressive record. He is the current WRSA European champion and has been seeking the opportunity to challenge for the U.K. number 1 spot for some time. This is yet another top level fight on a Main Event card, with many more to come!

Would love to see Lucy on the show as well Nath and back to winning ways but all the girls you mentioned for her to fight at 57 all fight 55kgs and below, ie Iman, Alexis etc. TBH not really sure there is many in UK 57 for her to fight, maybe if a weight could be agreed her and Sheree would be a good one with Sheree back on top form and winning her first World title earlier this year.

It's gonna be a great fight with DOC and Panicos.. Couldn't pick a winner if I'm honest!
But a fight that I would love to see has to be .. Kieran McAskill vs Daniel McGowan at about 55kg .. Would be a war.. Does anyone agree?

Nath mate in fairness Alexis and Iman can make 53kgs so at such a low weight to move up[ to 57 is a lot especially for a female.

In regards to Dan vs Kieran (and no disrespect to Kieran at all as I know the guy and is a good kid and a good fighter) Dan would end that fight stoppage within 3-4 rounds IMO I've watched his fights for a while now, and if I'm honest saw his potential and thought he had a great traditional MT style and would do well but didn't think he was ready just yet.....That opinion changed very quickly after having on our own show last year ad then just a few months ago having a bit of a spar with him and seeing him on pads, amazing talent and if he keeps this up he really could be right up there with 1 of the best we've ever produced in the UK, he is still only a kid as well really, once his really adult power kicks in god help people at 55, I've no doubt that he will be UK number 1 within the next few years (depending how long Dean goes on fighting for that is, I'm doing 1 after next year so I don't get chinned by a kid ha) and I no they would never fight anyway so once Dean decides to finish Dan will take over and rule 55 I personally think.

"Nath mate in fairness Alexis and Iman can make 53kgs so at such a low weight to move up[ to 57 is a lot especially for a female."

i do agree andy, but we all know that 57kg and coming up 2kg wouldnt be an issue if a match with tiffany in vegas came about which is unfair on lucy who struggles for matches on shows like this.
.if they beat her first and became the best at the weight, then fair play.
thats why despite the split i will always rave about julie as she tested herself from 61-67kg and took risks to get decent fights and create domestic clashes.bit like liam v greg.

In a change to our normal routine we are excited to announce one of our cracking undercard fights early -

65kg B Class - Danny Horton (Majestic Gym, Wigan) vs Ste Wain (Goldenteam, Leeds)

Both these lads are real bangers and we are very pleased to have secured such a quality fight for The Main Event to support our headlining bouts. Danny is coming off a close loss to number 4 ranked Mikey Wiseman last month on The Main Event and is keen to get back to winning ways. Standing in his way is the man from Leeds who will be looking to make a statement and end this fight as soon as possible, with opportunities in the pipeline for the winner...

The tickets for this show will now go on sale on Monday 9th December as we have a special limited Christmas discount offer! Details will be posted at the weekend

Loving the donestic match ups I like watch british fighters for world class opponents from abroad but can't beat to british fighters fighting each other to prove who is the best. Good times for British muay thai.

Iman has weighed in at around the 53.4 mark as has Alexis and both girls do walk around not far off that weight, moving up to 57 makes no sense and why would they when they have great fights lined up at there own actual weight divisions?? It's giving away 4kgs its silly. Lucy would come in 57 then go up a fair few kilo's where as the other two girls wouldnt really put weight on. As i say its alot of weight for female fighters, as men we can do it alot easier, we can loose and bulk up easier if needed. I'd love to see Lucy fighting more mate she is a class act, and great to watch, just finding someone in the uk her weight to match her with is near on impossible right now.

Ste and Danny will be a bit silly lol, both lads a bit mental so should be a laugh :) nice add to the fight card.

71kg K1 rules – Chad Sugden (Suggy’s Gym, Newark) vs Nathan Epps (K-Star, Birmingham)

This bout will see two of the brightest stars on the UK kickboxing stage face off against each other in a fight that has been in the making for over a year. Sugden is the only UK fighter signed to a long-term contract with K-1 Global and defeated Spanish fighter Jorge Falcon in spectacular fashion with a first round knockout in Gran Canaria yesterday. With an amateur record spanning over 100 fights, he made his professional debut on The Main Event in 2012, taking a hard fought win over Joe Roberts. Since then he has gone on to win 11 of his 12 professional contests, beating high profile opponents Ryan Edmunson, Salah Abdulsalem and Costel Paniscuis, and picking up the ISKA oriental rules World Title in the process.
Trained by Steve Logan of K-Star Gym in Birmingham, Epps has notched up 32 victories out of 40 fights and is currently on a 13-fight winning streak. A busy 2013 saw him record stoppage wins over WBC National Champion Mike Egan and Ireland’s Jonno Bracken, as well as a comfortable points win over foreign opposition on his hometown show in September. In October 2012 Epps and Sugden both competed in the 8-Man Grand Prix Tournament in Warrington, with Epps defeating Brad Stanton and Kerrith Bhella in his first two matches while Sugden secured his place in the final with victories over Solomon Wickstead and Peter Tiarks. Injured in the semi-final, Epps was forced to withdraw in favour of Bhella, whom Sugden went on to beat convincingly on points for the title and the purse.
Finally these two will meet in what is set to be an explosive fight over three rounds. A win for either here could set up further potential fights on some of the top kickboxing promotions in the world, with scouts from across Europe in attendance at The Main Event!

Great Fight on what is shaping up to be a great card. Chad V Nathan is the sort of fight that people want to see and what K1 is about. Styles make fights and this should have a bit of everything.

Watched Chad knock out a knock out merchant and out tough one of the toughest (15 - 0) blokes I've ever seen in a ring in his last 2 fights he is pysically and mentally maturing on top of his technical abilities.

Seen Nathan fight a couple of time and he is a is rightly seen as a good fighter and a great propsect.

I think Chad will be too strong and too experianced but that is only what I think and thats why its a great fight :)

Great to see some of people's opinions on here are fair and respectful rather than the usual comments on ax ha. Couldn't pick a winner but Sugden has achieved a lot for such a young fighter an is an inspiration to other aspiring fighters, will be a quality fight that is certain!

60kg A class – Andrew Lofthouse (Evolve, Manchester) vs Keith Mclachlan (Griphouse, Scotland)

Our next fight features the Fighter who, many would say, stole the show on our last event. Last years “break out” fighter Andrew Lofthouse finished an impressive 2013, which included wins over Brian Totty, Ross George and Adam Lee Mason, with an outstanding, fight of the night performance on November’s The Main Event. The unorthodox and entertaining Lofthouse will face off against the Keith Mclachan, UK’s number one ranked fighter at 59kg, in a catch weight contest matched at 60kg.

Tough as Teak Mclachlan is another fighter who can be likened to a good wine, gets better with age.
Keith brings a wealth of experience to the table with 23 fights on his record and has fought many top names over the past few years such as Darren O’connor, Ste Meleady and Oron Deachkalon, who many thought he was unlucky to lose to in the final of a Super 8 tournament. He holds wins over wins over Stevie Brown, Carl Copestake and former Thai champion Rung.

Another "call em” fight, it once again underlines the Usual Suspects mission to bring together the very best fighters out there and provide a spectacle few can match

Next addition to the card:

85kg A class – Carlos DeGraca (Bolton Muay Thai) vs Darren Howesion (Headhunters MMA, Scotland)

This is a fight which can have only one description - Knock Out! Between them these fighters have won 85% of their fights inside the distance.

UK number 1, unbeaten Carlos Degraca, follows his impressive 5th round stoppage of David Sa on The Main Event in November by defending his number 1 spot against hard-hitting Scotsman Darren Howeison. DeGraca’s performance against Sa brought him plaudits from many respected figures within the sport and took his unbeaten record to 10-0-1, with 8 of those coming by way of knockout. With his devastating knockout power and explosive style, he is the man to beat in the cruiserweight division in the UK.
On current form, 6ft 6” Howeison is one of the most dangerous 85kg fighters on the circuit and has racked up a perfect record of 9 straight wins, all inside the distance, picking up a Scottish title in the process. Currently sitting 3rd in the UK rankings, he will be looking to extend his perfect record and knock Carlos off the top spot, with future European opportunities on the horizon…

With 17 combined stoppages in their 20 bouts, this fight is guaranteed to be brutally action packed and explosive –while it lasts.

Very much a ‘don’t blink’ match, one thing is for certain… someone’s ‘0’ has got to go!

Ladies bout added to the card:

50kg K1-rules Paige Farrington (Team Diamond) vs Ariana Santos (Portugal)

Former British and Commonwealth amateur champion Paige will face her toughest challenge to date in the form of WMC and ISKA European champion Ariana Santos, who has more than 60 fights experience under her belt. Santos is no stranger to fighting in the U.K, having claimed a 2nd round TKO victory over British number 1 Emma Bragg on The Main Event in November. Paige counts numerous European opponents on her record and her come forward, aggressive style will undoubtedly cause problems for the highly regarded Portuguese fighter, with a win potentially propelling her onto the World stage.

This leaves the current card for The Main Event looking like this:

A Class

Liam Harrison (Bad Company, Leeds) vs Greg Wootton (Ko Gym, London)
Panicos Yusuf (Superpetch/All Powers, Stockport) vs Darren O'Connor (Thai Style, Liverpool)
Andrew Lofthouse (Evolve, Manchester) vs Keith McLachlan (Griphouse, Scotland)
Carlos Degraca (Bolton Muay Thai) vs Darren Howeison (Headhunter's, Scotland)

K1-Rules

Chad Sugden (Suggy's Gym, Newark) vs Nathan Epps (K-star, Birmingham)
Paige Farrington (Team Diamond, Warrington) vs Ariana Santos (Team Dynamite, Portugal)

B Class

Ask and you shall receive!

67kg A class – Reece Mccallister (Phoenix, County Durham) vs Brad Stanton (Kiatphontip, Leeds)

Following on from their electric performances at the weekend, this fight is the one everyone is asking for.
We had already been working to secure this fight for several weeks and are delighted to announce that an agreement has been reached for the newly crowned UK number 1 welterweight Reece Mccallister to defend his top spot against Brad Stanton, who currently occupies 4th position in the rankings. Both these young fighters are hot property in the Muay Thai world and have been demolishing all opponents in their way for some time now. Current UK number 1 and former amateur bronze medallist Mccallister has a wealth of junior experience behind him and lived in Thailand for a period where he fought more than a dozen times. With a hugely impressive record of 44 wins from 50 professional contests, he is rightly seen as one of the most special talents the UK has produced in recent years. In his last fight he put on a Muay Thai masterclass against former UK number 1 Tim Thomas, dethroning the man from Bedford with a wide points victory and with an amazing display that left the fans begging for more.
Stanton has been making huge waves on the UK Muay Thai scene, has been tipped as a future star of the sport from the very beginning of his career, and is undoubtedly the biggest threat to Reece’s number one spot. His aggressive fighting style has seen him make light work of numerous high calibre opponents in the past 12 months including Josh Palmer, Adrian Wedolowski and Sam Omomogbe. His only losses in his 23 fight career are one by a cut and another under K1 rules, as a last minute entry into an eight man tournament in a heavier weight category. In his last fight he beat the highly rated Wayne Fisher in ruthless fashion within a round.
These two athletes have an exciting fighting style, backed up by the confidence of youth, with the skill to support. Both are attacking fighters with plenty of knock out power across a full range of weapons. This is the fight the UK wants... The Main Event will deliver!

A couple of the fights on this card were never gonna happen........... Until the Main Event boys & girls sprinkled their magic dust!

This isn't just one of the best Domestic lines ups, its just one of the best line ups ever to be held on UK soil and is by far the best promotion the UK has..... and it has some good ones!

just been looking at the line up and seen sam jackson/kaufman fight is oriental rules? Why cant you just keep a show like this Muay Thai rules? I know Kaufman has recently moved towards FTR fighting. Its a huge show with big fighters and fights on. With shows like this and supershowdown really making big moves for muay thai I just think this sort of thing is a step backwards and is confusing for anyone who doesn't know about all the thousands of different kickboxing and muay thai rule sets out there.

As a matter of interest what is oriental rules is it k1 rules? Iv been around the sport as a fan and training for a long time and I get confused!

Im looking forward to this show but I'l be honest, as a fan when I see loads of different rule sets on one show it puts me off. Obviously just my opinion.

Appreciate your opinion Matthew, thanks. There are reasons why its matched as it is, as always. That aside, we have always generally tried to include 2 or 3 'k-1' rules bout on every show, with method in that madness also. Most of these have been receive well- tate v Mcgovan, barnhill v chirco, kemp v wedolowski, sugden v Epps etc. Would be good to hear more opinions on this really, do people prefer completely muay thai or does a mix please the masses? Decent topic for debate

Even though I prefer whatching thai boxing and have never even been to a predominatley "K1" show I like the way you do it...one or two bouts on the show breaks it up a bit

There doesn't seem to be many K-1 rules only shows, so i can see the reasoning behind this! Also, it applys to a different audience and can sell tickets that maybe wouldnt get sold.

67.5kg A class – Mark Skeer (Salford Muay Thai) vs Aaron Turner (Thaitans, Redditch)

After a very close loss to Bad Company’s Luke Imeson in a fight of the year contender last week, Skeer will attempt to retain his top ten ranking as he takes on current #13 Aaron Turner. Skeer is a regular on The Main Event and a fan favourite with his aggressive all-action fighting style but will yet again face a tough test against a man high in confidence following his impressive win over Minotaur’s Alex Bublea earlier this month. Turner knows this is a good chance to propel himself onto the mainstream Muay Thai circuit and a win here could pave the way for fights against other highly ranked welterweights

Bit of ranking hopping going on, cant see how they can swap places in rankings as he would go above Ben Lucas who beat Aaron Turner in his last fight but Skeer beat Lucas in the bout before that.
weazeldeazel
Posted: 2014-03-24 04:46:01
So how do you rank them? Skeer beats Lucas, then Lucas beats Turner who could then potentially beat Skeer?

That's why I would do it off the most recent result ie (potentially) Turner goes above Skeer, based on he has obviously improved as he beat the lad who beat the lad who beat him ;)

Was not questioning the rankings i think they work well, best we have ever had here in UK was just thinking if Aaron wins then Ben could rematch and go above Skeer without ever beating him!

As part of our association with the Celtic Championship Challenge and our long-serving partners Sandee, we are delighted to offer another exclusive opportunity to the up and coming youngsters on the U.K. Muay Thai circuit. Throughout the year the Celtic Championships host numerous high quality events offering the younger generation of emerging UK fighters regular opportunities to test their skills.

On May 3rd the annual WKA British Championships will take place under the Sandee and Celtic banner, where young fighters from around the U.K. & Celtic nations will fight in knockout tournaments for the gold medal positions and a possible place in the newly formed Sandee Academy. As already announced, the standout performer on this day will be inducted into the Sandee academy with future training and fighting opportunities abroad on the horizon.

In addition to this, The Main Event and Celtic team will handpick the ten most outstanding fighters from the past 12 months and invite them, along with a parent, to The Main Event on June 7th, where they will able to experience the ins and outs of a large scale promotion and get a feel for how things work.

We believe in looking after the talented youngsters of today and offering them opportunities to experience the bigger events in order to help prepare them for when they themselves are the headlining names in our sport. Already we have several promising 16-18 year olds matched on the show and we are committed to continuing this trend and showcasing these fighters on a stage where they have previously had very limited opportunities.

72.5kg A class – Daitan Jackson (Salford Muay Thai) vs Solomon Wickstead (Franks gym, Manchester)

The local derby everyone wants to see! A fight that seems to have been brewing for an eternity, these fighters and their respective camps have been exchanging words for some time. WRSA world champion Jackson needs no introduction on the Muay Thai stage in the U.K, having enjoyed a successful career during which he has faced some of the very best opposition in his weight class, including Ben Hodge, Kris Addis, Craig Jose and Simon Chu. After some time out following his successful World title bid in June 2012, he returned to the ring in February with a 3rd round TKO victory over a Spanish opponent. Next up he will take on rising star, European champion, Solomon Wickstead. Wickstead has made no secret of his desire to fight Jackson, and the little regard he has for his abilities or achievements, and he is already vocally stating his confidence that he will pick up the win. Wickstead has been very active of late in both the UK and abroad, having fought the likes of Ben Hodge and Abdallah Mebel and in recent months. Unknown to many, Solomon also took French star Dylan Salvador the distance in August 2012 when he was just 17. A 1st round KO victory of Liverpool’s Anthony Barton in his last fight stands him in good stead coming into this bout and he and his camp are convinced they have what it takes to take the bragging rights back to Wythenshawe.
This is one of the biggest domestic matchups available at the moment and has already grabbed the attention of fight fans across the country. Both fighters have a fantastic loyal and noisy set of supporters, and you can guarantee the roof will be blown off the USN Arena on June 7th!

Matthew Goulden I don't know if Panicos has ever been stopped, I think it will go to points and I think Panicos will win, for Darren O'Connor to beat him I think he'll have to stop him cut/TKO or KO.

Stanton vs McAllister will an unbelievable fight I think.

65kg K1 rules – Danny Horton (Majestic Gym, Wigan) vs Regis Sugden (Suggy’s Gym, Newark)

In a change to the original matchup, popular heavy hitter Danny Horton will now face the challenge of rising kickboxing and MMA prospect Regis Sugden, brother of ISKA World champion Chad. Horton fought on The Main Event in November 2013, dropping a very close decision to number 4 ranked Mikey Wiseman but got back to winning ways in February this year with a 2nd round TKO win. Known for his aggressive style and high KO ratio, his record currently reads 10 wins 5 losses and he is relishing the prospect of adding another win in this forthcoming challenge. 18 year old Sugden is a popular name on the kickboxing circuit with over 100 amateur contests under his belt. He made the move into the professional ranks last year and his slick approach has so far seen him acquire a perfect record of 8 straight wins, including 2 MMA competitions, on route to picking up a Commonwealth title. A very interesting matchup that guarantees to be a war from start to finish!

In a change to the fight card, unfortunately Darren O’Connor has been forced to withdraw from his planned contest with Panicos Yusuf due to injury. Whilst this is out of our hands and these thing happen in the fight game, we don’t like to disappoint and have worked hard over the past couple of days to find Panicos a more than credible opponent in Dutch star Sergio Wielzen. Wielzen is from a fighting family and some of you may remember his uncle Theo Wielzen, one of the early stars of Dutch Muay Thai, who beat Ronnie Green in Holland and also fought for a European Title in England against Humphrey Harrison, rocking Humphrey early doors before being knocked out with a head kick. Sergio comes to the stage with vast experience and several big scalps under his belt, having fought on some of the world’s biggest stages such as Glory and It’s Showtime. A first round knockout win over Anuwat Kaewsamrit a few years ago set him up for further fights against some of the sports elite and since then he has shared the ring with Kaoponlek, Mickael Paynaud and Houcine Bennoui, among others. His fast, aggressive fighting style has seen him build an impressive record which reads 38 wins from 50 fights, with 22 by way of (T)KO and he is relishing this opportunity to test himself against another world class opponent in Panicos.

We are obviously disappointed by the loss of DOC but we are happy that this is a quality replacement and, in the words of Panicos’ own coach, 'an even harder fight'

Fight card change:

Reece Mcallister has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout on The Main Event for medical reasons. We have worked tirelessly over the past few days to secure a replacement and today we have confirmed:

67kg A Class – Brad Stanton (Kiatphontip, Leeds) vs Federico Alfaro (Knowsley Academy, London)

This fight sees two of the most exciting fighters in the welterweight division up against one another in an exciting clash of styles. Stanton has been making huge waves on the UK Muay Thai scene and has been tipped as a future star of the sport from the very beginning of his career. His aggressive fighting style has seen him make light work of numerous high calibre opponents in the past 12 months including Josh Palmer, Adrian Wedolowski and Sam Omomogbe. In his last fight he beat the highly rated Wayne Fisher in ruthless fashion within a round, to take his record to 21 wins from 23 fights. Facing Brad this time is a fighter who left the crowd stunned in his first fight in the UK earlier this year, with a ruthless demolition of the experienced Pindi Madahar. A former amateur World champion, Alfaro is a newcomer to England and is training under the guidance of Chris Knowles in London. With a combined record of 27 wins from 32 fights in Spain, he is keen to make an impression on the U.K circuit. His pacey, exciting, unorthodox fighting style will undoubtedly cause major problems for anyone at 67kg and he knows a win over Stanton will make a lasting impression.

We are disappointed at the loss of Reece but obviously his health must come first and we wish him a quick recovery. We are confident Federico is a more than adequate replacement and this will make for an exciting fight!

This leaves the fight card for The Main Event as follows, with 2 weeks to go:

A Class

Liam Harrison vs Greg Wootton
Panicos Yusuf vs Sergio Wielzen
Daitan Jackson vs Solomon Wickstead
Brad Stanton vs Federico Alfaro
Keith McLachlan vs Andrew Lofthouse

None taken Ricky, yes this is the fighter that just lost on points to Charlie, a world champ with 40+ fights experience, no shame in that. 32 fights experience altogether, with 5 losses, former Wako World champion. Awkward style, looking to cause an upset. Hoping for a good fight, we'll find out on June 7th :)

Lol at all the people who think epps will KO sugden. Who has epps beat he in for whole load of trouble if you disagree and really believe epps will stop sugden put your money where your mouth is. Happy to take several bets but no time wasters. Email me dean@suggysgym.com and be happy to oblige. Chad fought and beat fighters with more Ko's than epps had fights.
Bring your money to the event £££

Has someone had too much bank holiday fun? I personally have said I can only see Epps winning if he catches Sugden with a shot, it's not impossible, if it goes to points Chad should win. To question Epps' previous opponents, if they're so shit why would you even take the fight?
Dean Sugden
Posted: 2014-05-26 17:22:25
Never said they was shit. I said who has Epps beat? Chad got caught with a deliberate and illegal elbow few weeks ago by Enriko Kehl who holds 2 x Top 10 KO's against top Thais. No.1 & No.4 Why would Epps struggle to beat Bhella and never looked like knocking him out but be able to KO chad?
Of course anything is possible. Why take fight ? Why not Epps is No.3 Chad is No.2 and is a great event, probably the biggest and best in the UK and Chad being well paid.

Chad v Epps, Have watched Chad for years, never seen him hurt by a legitimate shot other than by Ryan and IMO (credit due to Ryan)that was a mistake by Chad and he ducked into a full on kick. Am not going to run Nathan down or question his ability as this is a genuine fight but watching Chad in the last 18 months as he has moved up and been exposed to euopean and world ranked / rated fighters he has not looked troubled from a power perspective. This should be a great fight and I am sure Chad will win and I am sure the Epps camp feel the same about Nathan. Bottom line is lets fast forward to 7th and change our opinions to facts. Cant wait!

Liam Harrison vs Greg Wootton has been cancelled.
Regrettably Liam has been unable to make the agreed weight. In his efforts to do so he has unfortunately been hospitalised. He has now been released but has to return on Sunday for further tests. We are absolutely devastated, as will everybody be, at the loss of this fight. However, fighters safety must come first. We still have 15 fights on the show, see you there.

The lineup for The Main Event is now as follows:

Josh Bowker (Bolton Muay Thai) vs Niall Brown (Master Skens Academy, Stockport)

Luke Phillips (GFC Camp, Bury) vs Rahul Rahman (Eagles Gym, Wales)

Dakota Ditcheva (Northern Spirit, Manchester) vs Georgina Van Der Linden (Holland)

Regis Sugden (Suggy’s Gym, Newark) vs Danny Horton (Majestic, Gym, Wigan)

Tyler Liptrott (Team #OO, Bolton) vs Antanas Vaznys (Goldenteam, Leeds)

Sam Jackson (Supergym, Knutsford) vs John Kaufman (Fortitudo, Liverpool)

Mark Skeer (Salford Muay Thai) vs Aaron Turner (Thaitans, Redditch)

Myk Estlick (Spartans, Whitworth) vs Connor Long (Millenium Martial Arts, Newcastle)

Carlos Degraca (Bolton Muay Thai) vs Darren Howieson (Headhunters, Scotland)

Daitan Jackson (Salford Muay Thai) vs Solomon Wickstead (Frank’s Gym, Manchester)

Paige Farrington (Team Diamond, Warrington) vs Ariana Santos (Team Dynamite, Portugal)

Brad Stanton (Kiatphontip, Leeds) vs Federico Alfaro (Knowsley Academy, London)

Andrew Lofthouse (Evolve, Manchester) vs Keith Mclachlan (Griphouse, Scotland)

Chad Sugden (Suggy’s Gym, Newark) vs Nathan Epps (K-star, Birmingham)

Panicos Yusuf (All Powers, Stockport) vs Sergio Wielzen (Holland)

I know in the fight game that problems arise like this and I'm.certainly not gonna start the blame game, the reasons are none of my business but il be honest at least 4 people including myself bought tickets for the yusif /doc, Standon/mcallister and Wooton/Harrison fights.all the other fights were a bonus but I paid 35 basically for those fights and wouldn't have come otherwise. Any chance.of some financial recognition to disappointed fans?say 5-10 back on.production of the ticket or something?

As iv just explained on Facebook it's nothing to do with not making weight I was on weight when I went to the hospital this morning so stop talking shit. Iv been urinating blood and having some other problems so went to the hospital where I was kept all day. Had numerous tests was put on a drip and have to return for further blood tests regarding my kidneys. I was fittest iv ever been and ready to roll but my health comes first I'm afraid. I'm very sorry to Greg and everyone else. I really wanted this fight and have lost out of money :/

Ive got better things to do with my time the night before a show but cant ignore this. Whichever idiot came up with the rumour earlier this week fabricated it. We got this phonecall at 5.30 tonight and a photo of liam in hospital, after spending 8 months planning the show and over £90,000, theres nobody more gutted than us. If anyone can get us a replacement of Greg Woottons calibre at 12 hours notice, im all ears.
Not gonna go into this bit but an agreement has been met with Greg on compensation, one which i might add wouldnt happen on any other show, it would be simply 'sorry mate, nowt we can do, see ya".
Pointless going back and forth on a forum with prople who make assumptions and have no idea what it actually takes to put on an event of this size. If you're at the show feel free to come over and ill explain to anyone face to face, its far more production than on here
Anyway, theres a show to be arranged

bit unfair to say you was mugged for your money... End of the day the buck stops with us the fighters... But what are you gonna do, call us a gang of cunts for getting injuries training for the fights or having problems with our kidneys... We're hardly cunts and you were hardly mugged.

DarrenEFC - You don't think I've been mugged that's your subjective industry insider view, fair enough...I'm over £200 quid down for tickets I would pay about £100 for now if I had too, but really I would choose not to purchase at all

As for the buck stopping with the fighters, it doesn't - I'm a consumer whose spent money the buck stops with people selling to me & running a business of such sales

"What are you gonna do call us a gang of cunts" I don't know how my 5 word comment about my perceived devaluation of my tickets logically flows to me thinking injured fighters are cunts? I love watching fights & respect fighters that's the whole reason I go to shows

gutted for liam but health must come 1st,dehydration can damage the kidneys and i imagine with the amount of fights hes had hes had to dehydrate his body a few times.ive never said but my last 2 fights i had major kidney pain trying to dehydrate my body to make weight.i dont know if it has anything to do with it but ive a hospital appointment to get them checked as an ultrasound showed 1 bigger than the other so at the end of the day people need to remember what fighters do just so people get entertained.i hope its nothing serious and gutted the fight isnt happening bcoz it would have been a cracker but theres some great fights that would headline any show so go along and enjoy what these guys do best.
Marko
Posted: 2014-06-07 02:05:05
Dizzle you say you love and respect fighters yet feel duped if they pull out cos they are injured
It's a bit nieve to expect that just because you bought your ticket that is what you will see, anyone knows you take a gamble when buying tickets to a fight as the they are based on fighters being in good health
Unlucky ? Yes
Mugged - no.
Dizzle
Posted: 2014-06-07 02:14:43
Marko - You claim I say I love fighters, I don't say that in my posts

You say I feel duped, I don't say that either

If you want to disagree with what I say do so based on what I say not some words you make up and then attribute to me
Dizzle
Posted: 2014-06-07 02:19:55
And also where do I say I expect to see exactly the originally advertised line up when I buy a ticket? That's right I don't say it

But there is a certain level of deterioration in a lineup that at some point it just becomes incomparible with the original line up

It an individual perception what level that is

For me in this case the 3 fights that have changed/gone since I brought my tickets have passed that level, for you it may not

BeanCounter
Posted: 2014-06-07 02:58:13
I'm calling bullshit on this. He tried to cut too much weight in too little time, that's why he's on a drip..... To rehydrate.

It's happened before this missing the weight malarkey.

Next time he's down to fight, I'll wait till the day of the fight to buy the ticket and pay on the door..... Make sure he gets through his toughest adversary the weigh in!!

Gutted for Greg, his time will come

totally agree with tino get wooton vs stanton that makes a good main event! really sad to see your guys GREAT effort and planning fall to pieces in a couple of weeks you must be fucking wounded! i know liam is, you still have panicos fighting but not many people will be interested due to his opponent not being truely known in england, keith vs lofthouse should be a good fight but i favor keiths technical skills far beyond lofthouses although he could catch him with his unorthodox ways but i doubt he will he's not fought anywhere near keiths level! if he did he would have been caught real bad by now. there surely is a top euro fighter that would jump in for the right money? even someone like koapon lek, or prathet again, someone that doesnt need to be that fit to fight! sorry for everyones bad luck, i feel like i dodged a bullet with this one £70 on train entrance ticket and hotel for not one fight im interested in! would like to see epps win just because, hear people really bigging up sugden and i dont feel hes earnt the name people talk him up to be yet, not hit anywhere near the hype where as epps althogh a name is still quite assumed.

Great venue, great production, great seating and overall space made it comfortable. For all the various reasons (reasons Im sure people will argue over for weeks) the card was weak for £35. Greatly enjoyed 3 fights, Brad stantons (sorry cant remember the guys name but he was great, tough and very entertaining), Kieth Mcclacans fight and Panicos Yusif vs the Dutch guy, were good displays of Muay Thai that said all the winners were considerably better than their oponants and defeated them with ease. Shame this card went the way it did for whatever reason. I think the promoters should have acknowledged this to the customers in some way. I am now wary of buying tickets to soon before shows, might even just risk it on the day from now on.

Proud to have fought on the promotion again production was quality and despite losing fights I personally wanted to see it still displayed some match ups! Keith mclachlan put on a top performance & brad stantons fight was entertaining

totally agree with matthew goulden the fights were dissapointing, I got the impression they were trying not to lose rather than win.

The show was a bit of an anti climax, I agree with the statement that some fighters looked like they were trying not to lose rather than trying to win.

No one was controlling the seating and I noticed quite a few people with standard wrist bands sitting in the more expensive seats which pissed me off having paid extra for them. People were free to walk up to the ringside seats when the fighter they had come to support was fighting, bit of a piss take really.

Degraca vs Howieson and Mclachlan vs Lofthouse were quality, Mclachlan's eye was a mess at the end. Really impressed with that Portugeuse girl to

Massive well done to Chad Sugden, cracking fight against a very tough and talented Nathan Epps. This for me was the fight of the night, none stop action from start to finish. Suggys Gym is going from strength to strength.
The best of the thai fights have been mentioned above and i'm glad that i wasn't the only one who thought there was a lack of commitment and desire to win in some of the thai fights.
Shame Liams fight was cancelled due to health issues, but hopefully this will happen soon as it seems to be the fight everyone wants to see.

Epps vs Sugden was definitely fight of the night, they really went for it. Loved Epps's non stop pressure; I personally thought it should of gone an extra round. A lot of the Muay Thai fights were uneventful.

Overall enjoyed the show (good to see you Ross) but agree with other comments about some of the fighters not stepping up and trying to impose / take the opportunity.

Chad Vs Epps was a comfortable victory for Chad :) and was one of the better fights with two fighters going at it bell to bell. Credit Nathan as well. Chad didn't need the fight or need to take it but was happy to take it to set the record straight. Back to international opponents now.

Glad Regis is starting to get the exposure his form and talent deserves. Bailey next.....

Shame about the Liam Vs Greg fight but think some of the conspiracy theories are wide of the mark and unfair / uninformed. I do hope every effort was made to secure a viable replacement for opponent for Greg.

Sugden Epps was a good fight but Sugden never looked troubled, Epps has an exciting aggresive walk forward style, it didn't work on Sugden and Epps didn't have a plan b.

Agree with what superpetch just said the refereeing was spot on and the whole organisation of the show..
Ariana Santos is one of my favourite female fighters after watching her come to the main event twice and be devastating, really aggressive and good to watch

Well we're still at it with all the post-event stuff but now seems like the right time to take a breath.

Firstly we'd like to thank everybody who made the event the massive success it turned out to be, all the behind the scenes staff and helpers who played their part and fighters and trainers who all did their bit. Huge thanks to our loyal sponsors Sandee , Banned Fightwear , Nationwide Car Hire and MK Medical Network, without whom it would not be possible to continue promoting as we do.

Feedback from the show has been fantastic, 3500 people in the venue and 99.9% positive with a few helpful suggestions for improvements which we are grateful for and are already looking to rectify. Fairly sure we have responded to everybody so far who had messaged us, thanks for your input. There's no bigger critic than me and anyone ive spoken to since Saturday can vouch for that, it's finding the negatives that helps improve things so that's what I personally have been looking for so the next one is even better.

After losing the headlining bout 30 hours before the show we were obviously concerned but some other fighters stepped up to the plate and the general consensus seems to be that many of the fights delivered, albeit maybe not some of the ones that were tasty on paper. Ultimately we cant punch and kick for people but can only make the matches, many of which were received well when announced, as you can see throughout this thread. 2 KOs in 15 fights I think suggests good matchmaking, although Carlos vs Darren Howieson was supposed to end in a KO and surprisingly went to points haha. Its a bit of a weird one this time as some fights that people are saying were very good, others are saying were poor and vice versa. Nobody can seem to make up their mind which was the best! Dakota vs Georgina, Sugden v Epps, Lofthouse v McLachlan, Degraca vs Howieson and Stanton vs Alfaro seem to have the votes divided. I saw very little on the night so look forward to seeing the footage in a couple of weeks when its ready

DVDs will be available in a few weeks and also The Main Event TV series is set to start in the summer with all the coverage of Saturday's event penned in to be screened.

Matthew Goulden, I wasn't going to respond to that and have been advised not to but sometimes its nice to rebel - "I think the promoters should have acknowledged this to the customers in some way" Whenever there was a change in the card it was posted. On here, on facebook, on twitter, on our website, on everywhere where anyone could read anything about the show. Not sure what more you'd like us to do on that to be honest, open to suggestions though as always?

Good shout on the refereeing too Mr Robinson and thanks for you text on a job well done

That's me,
Thanks
Tony Deane

Are you going to address the problem with seating? I accept that promoters can only match the fights, pay the fighters and provide the venue fighters get injured and if the fighters don't perform then they're in the wrong game. Stopping someone from sitting in a seat they have not paid for should be part of the package If you can't do that give up now because if anyone with real money saw that they'd fucking laugh and walk away

Not had anyone else mention that issue Rich but there were a couple of things we weren't happy with in regards to the stewarding of certain areas so yes, that will be addressed. We'll carry on improving and delivering, its getting bigger and better every time

tbh can you imagine if there was a no show by Froch or Groves, headline fight which people would have been up for, for months , a belter.

or if suddenly the world cup got called off.

now before I get shot down , I am not leveling blame at LH's door, he ended up in hospital - but this is not the first time a top line at a big show has gone to pot and it happens more in MT in UK than anywhere else ive seen it - don't get me wrong I think UKMT shows are the best organized and have some great crowds and fuck me they are value compared to places where i've been to see other fights (Thailand , Singapore., Holland) but there wasn't another MT fight on the bill that could match up to cover the risk of a fall-through on the Harrison/Wooton fight - the Sugden fight was k1 rules and form what I have heard it was great and he is a real top prospect.

This was a huge show with a thread that has almost 50000 views, that gives you an idea of how much people were gearing up for it. Its almost worth promoters paying another 2 high level challengers to train 8-12 weeks as last minute replacements for the main event and they get paid even if they don't fight.
Because the main event has fallen through on quite a lot of shows on here over the years. promoters need to insure their risk and reputation.

Just my thruppence worth.

If it comes to making weight and anyone wants to race me to 103kg, im just enjoying a pie.

or just a spair fighter to train in the shadows of the main event incase either party has to pull out. you are right hawkman when was the last time you heard of a big boxing main event not going on. they never get pulled last minute i dare say that its in their contract that they have to fight no matter what after a certain time coming up to the fight. even if its just to go out there and get knocked out.

It's nice to see you guys are taking the constructive criticism on board ... Most people would argue with it or simply ignore it!

I enjoyed the show and thought it was definitely worth paying a little extra to sit close to the ring, and the atmosphere certainly improved because of that. For me the De Graca / Howieson & Sugden / Epps fights were great! Also enjoyed Stanton's fight as both fighters were really entertaining. Certain fights didn't live up to the hype, but what can you do you can't force them to fight like you said.

I did notice a few people with standard wristbands creeping into the ringside area, but were removed eventually but still after getting a good few fights viewing in first.

Overall great show which I enjoyed, production quality was awesome as always!

Thanks for responding - basically and too put it bluntly I was referring to some small financial or similar token, (not that I was honestly expecting it). I bought a ticket to watch Yusif/DOC, Stanton/ Mcallister and Harrison /Wooton. Those fights were the reason I wanted to go. The other fights (to me) were a bonus. Speaking strictly personally, I dislike watching k1, oriental rules etc immensley. Although I was very happy watching the Stanton, yusif and keith mclachlans fights on the night, had I seen this card as it ended up when I purchased the ticket I probably wouldn't have come. Mainly because I have large family and not much money.

I tend to agree with Hawkman. If Carl Froch hadn't been able to turn up last week Im fairly sure many people would have demanded their money back? (maybe Im wrong?).
I undertsand it was out of your hands in the end, Im also not trying to insinuate blame on behalf of the fighters. (Liam Harrisons illness for example is literally none of my business). As a consumer I feel I didnt get what I paid for.

That said I still stand by what I said earlier, excellent venue, excellent production, good atmosphere, seemed very well run all round. But having to be very selective about when and what shows I can afford to go to, it ended up being a bit dissapointing for the price. Clearly just my opinion and the opinion of the few guys I was sitting with on the night though so it probably doesnt count for much.
