Next year will see Showdown Events promote first of its 8 man tournaments, with the prize money of £10,000 Surely we will see all the best 66-67kg fighters out there to battle it out to take the number one spot.
The right 8 men could mean every fight a war, who would we like to see in the competition????????
First Place to be taken is
Greg Wootton from the KO Gym Greg is arguably one of the best fighters in the UK at the moment, fighting Liam Harrison for the number one spot in June.
He will be tough to beat in the competition
67kg is a bit above his normal fight weight. I can see 10,000 reasons why he'd want to step up in weight for this but will he be as dominant at the higher weight? It'll definitely be interesting to see who else will be in this. An exciting prospect.
Second Place to be confirmed
Imran khan , Imran has been out of the ring for a while after coming off a win over Josh Palmer he has stated he will be in the best shape of his life for this tournament
Imran v Greg would be worth the ticket money alone surely
Always a well run show with good match-ups the Showdown Events. Went last time and there were some cracking fights. Will be sure to be going again this time. Is there a dvd of the last show as wouldn't mind watching some of those fights again?
Tim TNT Thomas definatelly!
Regis Sugden has to be in this...
This 8 man is Full Thai Rules the 3rd fighter to be confirmed
Thomas Mccormick been out of the ring for a while, but with his tricky skills and track record in previous tournaments will provide a threat to any fighter in this
What about Regis .... Young kid does note but step up and surprise every time !!!!!!!
If regis wants to be in dean needs to get in touch
What about Mcallister ????
If there camp are interested tell them to get in touch
Has Regis Sugden written all over it
Thomas Stanton Pamler Sewell and David Tieu after his performance on The Main Event. This could potentially be amazing!
Ok just to make it a bit more interesting we have another fighter to throw into the card
Tim Thomas needs no introduction UK number 1 at that weight!!!
This looks great!! Cant wait!
Another fighter to be confirmed tomorrow also a a top international in this 8 man
shapeing up nice, hows the prize money split, winner will recieve how much ????
Can you put Dave Tieu in please
Wowwww this just maybe the best 8 man seen on these shores ever, this is exciting
8 Man is shaping up very nice fighters confirmed so far
Fighter 1 - Greg Wooten
Fighter 2 Imran Khan
Fighter 3 - Thomas Mccormick
Fighter 4 - Tim Thomas
Fighter 5 - Reece Mcalister
Fighter 6 - Brad Stanton

Fighter 8 -
Surely this has to be one of the best 8 men tournament ever taken place in the UK, 2 spots available anyone wanting these spots please msg me on 07833923635
Who else do we think? surely this will determine who is best at that weight???
Agree on tieu and sewell thats almost the dream domestic 8 man tourney.
Who are the favourites? Obvious choice would be tnt but any others?
Im going with reece, interesting to see how greg does it this weight
You have to get Salah in on this aswell surely!? What a great line up so far
I was training out at super pro samui when Reece was out there and this kid is a class act. A very nice and down to earth guy with a very bright future. I believe he's been quite active in thailand as well as his stints ink1 and Glory. Haven't Reece and Tim met before? Am I right in thinking Reece won a decision?
Who else has met before in this 8 man? I know tournaments are always very different to a single fight but it'd be interesting to know.
Has Greg ever fought at this weight before? I think he's one of the UKs best p4p but here he would be fighting the UK's best at 2 weight classes above his normal weight. That's a big ask! I'm a massive fan of his and would pay the ticket money to see him take on that any of the above mentioned fighters.
You can never rule out someone with TNT knockout power and that may suit a tournament style. Tim has to be one of the favourites.
Who has David Tieu fought at this weight? Whats his record? I know of Carlton Leiu and Mathew Tieu but I haven't seen David fight. He's definitely from an excellent camp and training in good company.
Imran Khan is another legend. In fact - this looks to be an amaizing line up!! When and where is this taking place, I'll have to make sure I can go?
Sheffield octagon centre 7th september 2014 has to announce early to get the dream 8 fighters on here for the best tournament.
This is full thai rules
Tim has fought Imran twice 1 win 1 draw A class
Tim fought Reece K1 lost on points
Don't forget Thomas McCormick he has a great record in tournaments
Yea, Thomas McCormick has a wonderfully elusive style from what I remember.
Putting that date in my diary.
What gym in Thomas McCormick fighting out of now ?
I believe he is training with Dan Hudson
8 Man is almost complete
Fighter 1 - Greg Wooten
Fighter 2 - Imran Khan
Fighter 3 - Thomas Mccormick
Fighter 4 - Tim Thomas
Fighter 5 - Reece Mcalister
Fighter 6 - Brad Stanton
Fighter 7 - Ricky Sewell
Fighter 8 -

Is this k1?? If so id be well up for it
Am I missing something her? Surely Liam Harrison should be in this?
Am I missing something here*? Surely Liam Harrison should be in this?
8 Man is complete
Fighter 1 - Greg Wooten
Fighter 2 - Imran Khan
Fighter 3 - Thomas Mccormick
Fighter 4 - Tim Thomas
Fighter 5 - Reece Mcalister
Fighter 6 - Brad Stanton
Fighter 7 - Ricky Sewell
Fighter 8 - Dave Tieu
Any one prepared to put there name on a prediction>
That's a brilliant tournament
ricky sewell is in at the deep end here as has a gulf of experience difference compared to the others but as we have all been saying hes from "that gym" that is killing it at the moment!
i train with imran we cant both be in it. great tournament shame its so long away tho i dont wana wait ha
If this stays together it will be the best possible 8-man we could ask for! Talking to Hussain today theres already a buzz about it. be interesting to see how Wootton gets on with the bigger lads. Think we'll get a decent idea of that when he fights Liam in June. Khan has all the experience in the world, 1 shot from Thomas can KO anybody, Stanton making huge noise in the division at the moment and rising stars Tieu and Sewell could well cause upsets. Throw Mccallister and Tommy in the mix and this could be an amazing show! Cant wait!
me and wooton is at 65 tho...fighting 3x at 67 will be hard but hes got the right physique to be able to bulk up properly so i think he will be ok
Sorry the weight is set at 66kg can't wait to see greg v liam
sewell and mcallister are gonna be huge at that weight...i cant wait to laugh at sewell when hes cutting that weight
The undercard will also feature some big domestic fight
UK Muay Thai gets better end better
Very competitive tournament very difficult to pick a winner thats the great thing about it, props to the promoter for putting this together. Couldnt have picked a better 8 man apart from if liam harrison was in it. Im struggling with predictions changing my mind constantly but going put my neck out and say greg or reece. Wouldnt put any money on it though
Reserve fight if anyone pulls out due to injury on the night
Winner of
Josh Palmer v Michael Blood
Reserve fight is another cracker!
One hell of an 8 man that, hope it all stays as it is and no pull outs. Nice one Shaf
How old is Sewell? making 66kgs in 09/14 might be hard than it is now if hes still growing
Hes 18. He just likes eating bacon butties and biscuits too much :)
Some more big fights on the undercard one featuring Dan Edwards this fight is one domestic fight we have wanted to see for a while
A1 line up, good on ya mate for pulling it together! what is the date?
7/9/14, didnt see that at the top doh.
Woah! That is one hell of a tournament if all those fighters stay in it. Definitely going to this show, Reece Mcalister wins it for me but I wouldn't bet on it.
Grandprix '8 Man' Tournaments are great for spectators, but can be a lot harder for promoters than a regular show, both financially and also with matchmaking ( keeping the tournament intact with 10 participating fighters). Many promoters avoid them for this very reason, full credit to the organiser.
This one looks set to be a cracking event.
Best wishes to all involved!
By the time this comes round it will have lost 90% of the big names in it! Always happens.
Dropouts are expected in these tournaments its part of the sport, if half the fighters from the original lineup stay in it will be well worth watching
we can only aim to put on the best we have arguably 8 of the best fighters in the UK at that weight, if anyone pulls out we can't really help that
This show will be MASSIVE if these fights take place and even if some fighters do pull out due to injury, etc I'm sure Showdown will still deliver the goods as these shows have grown in strength each year giving the public some top fights!!!
I agree with edwards paulie, come septemeber the line up will be different, I hope I'm wrong
I'm sure there was a similar tornament planned last year with TNT stanton and poss imran in it and all had to pull out.
Maybe it would've been better to keep it under wraps until closer the time not announce it 10 months early........
If it does happen my moneys on Brad or Imran
Off course the line up will be diff, but the ambition is there to put together a great line up.
And if the prize money is real then the line up will good a good one whatever happens.
Hey Shafique Ameen Alkilaney will be up for this tournament, he's back on form.
Stopped his last 2 opponents November stopped Richmond Annan 3rd Round FTR at York Hall, Last Sunday stopped French fighter Quentin? in rd 2 in a K1 fight at Sheffield Octagon.
fighting again this month then will train all over winter before going to Thailand for 2 months where he's hoping to fight at least 3 times!
An exciting fighter that can upset anyone on his day!
The reason for announcing the tournament so early is to get all the fighters booked, we can not help injuries etc but even if 4
out of the 8 stay in, it will be amazing
Whether the original 8 stay in it or not it should be a quality tournament event if only half remain in come September. This weight division is ridiculous for talent and there are plenty who come step in and still make it a good show, gonna have to see this one :)
Another top A class fight on the card, great domestic fight Dan Edwards (k star) v James Ogden (Wicker camp) this will be a war@@
All 8 men will be interviewed before the show giving predictions on how they will do, will be played live at the show on our big screen

McAllister on McCormick for me! Would have been nice to see Salah involved.
Salah fights at 69-70.
What weight is this tournament now? I don't think Brad will mind me saying he struggles with 67 so 66 is going to be some ask.
Didn't he fight Wayne fisher at 66?
Tournament looks awesome!
Greg's surname is "Wootton" by the way... and I think you might want to check the spelling of Tieu.
If half those fighters can make it it will be a stunning tournament.
sorry will get these sorted
Tickets go on sale 1st May and will be in touch with camps who have sent fighters for the undercard
if one of this fighters waiveri ' ve a replacement. Alessio d'angelo.he have figth whit tim thomas at thai max in france. whit alamos kaoponlek. khem salvador. three time in the thai figth. thanks'
Fighter 1 - Greg Wooten
Fighter 2 - Imran Khan
Fighter 3 - Thomas Mccormick
Fighter 4 - Tim Thomas
Fighter 5 - Brad Stanton
Fighter 6 - Ricky Sewell
Fighter 7 - Dave Tieu
Fighter 8 - Josh Palmer
change to the 8 man Reece is no longer available so Josh Palmer has now stepped in comes to the ring with a wealth of experience
Any predictions???
Would like to see josh turbill in this if anyone else withdraws
Even though he steps up in weight I still think Wootton takes this.
Tims coach has told us, this is his last fight in thai boxing
Would be great to see Tim have his last fight on this show he has a knockout style of his own which I love to watch but also Brad Stanton alongside Thomas McCormick will also prove dangerous in an event like this one...8 man's are always full of shocks and surprises!
Wootton and stanton for me. Interesting to see otheres predictions, its a tough call.
Interesting to see if Wooton can compete at the higher weight, dont know him personally so would be interested to hear his walk around weight? Harrison is a massive test so if he did beat him, surely hed be the "favourite" for this?
I still think Thomas has something left in the tank, McCormack back in the mix, has tournament experience, but i like Stanton for this, his style especially the beast clinch could mean he limits the damage he takes through the rounds?
Some really good undercard fights being matched will be releasing very soon
If you have a need a substitute i've alessio d'angelo thanks
Tickets will be on sale this week
Fighter 1 - Imran Khan
Fighter 2 - Josh Palmer
Fighter 3 - Thomas Mccormick
Fighter 4 - Tim Thomas
Fighter 5 - Brad Stanton
Fighter 6 - Ricky Sewell
Fighter 7 - Dave Tieu
Fighter 8 - Charlie Peters
change to the 8 man Greg is no longer available so Charlie Peters has now stepped in comes to the ring with back to back wins and taking the Enfusion circuit by storm.
Any predictions???
Showdown 14 - 7th September , Octagon Sheffield, £10,000 prize money.
Fighter 1 - Imran Khan
Fighter 2 - David Tieu
Fighter 3 - Thomas Mccormick
Fighter 4 - Tim Thomas
Fighter 5 - Brad Stanton
Fighter 6 - Sam Omomogbe
Fighter 7 - Charlie Peters
Fighter 8 - Stephen Meikle
Any predictions people? tickets are flying out!!!!.
Now that Sam Omomogbe's in the mix there's gonna be trouble for everyone participating in this tournament! He's a beast!!!
is it muay thai or k1 for the tournament i couln't see it.
thats good. thanks Hussain
Didn't Brad beat Sam O quite easy as well as palmer?
Gotta echo what superpetch said tho, can't see Brad making 66kg, from what I've heard he hasn't been able to make 67 lately
Snowplastlondon i totally agree the kid is evil, he never has acheived what he could i seen him when he was 15 at an interclub smashing full grown men with ease, i was sure he would be a higher profile name now than he is. him or brad stanton to win it. i think brad may already have a win over sam tbf. tournaments who knows
Sam has been competing at 63.5kg but does has a dig on him way above his weight, he dropped soloman giving away weight and will be fit and durable as wont have to cut weight to make 66kg. I think Brad did beat Sam quite convincingly before but i wasnt there and the tournament format suits him even when you hit him you seem to injure yourself i dont know what he is made of lol.
66kg MAX is a good weight for this.
thought the tourneys 67kg?
So it was at 66kg until Wooton pulled out?
4 weeks out no news no promo?
A lot of money. Is it still on?
Sorry just been busy of course show is still on tickets are flying out all VIPs almost sold out
I was meant to be fighting on this show, but I've just found out (via Facebook) that my opponent james ogden is fighting someone else now , can the promotor please confirm this and the reason why ?
Dan , Steve was made aware weeks ago about this situation you need to take this matter up with him
Latest 8 Man Line up
Tim Thomas
Imran Khan
Thomas Mccormick
Brad Stanton
Sam Omogobe
David Tieu
Stephen Meikle
Paul Norton
Anyone one of these could take the crown
Under Card fight
James Ogden (Wicker Camp v Loz Smithen (kiathonip) A class
This will be a great fight with James returning to the ring having 2 years out due to injury and Loz just coming off a win
Not long now and this 8 man is going to be knockout!
Some tasty support bouts getting lined up for this show too!
Some more big undercard fights to be announced very soon
Whats happening with this event? So much hype to begin with then 3 weeks out no promotion. Underwhelming
what are you going on about are you not looking at the posts above???
Who will be the 8th man then since Stephen meikle pulled out ??
Will put the full line up in the next day or so just confirming
Some huge names still left in this tournament. Really hope it does end up as eight fighters in the draw not 7,stupid when one fighter gets a free round because another fighter pulls out. if that happens it should be cut to a four man not carry on with it when theres not enough fighters for the first draw.
This will be a 8 man tournament as advertised!!

What difference does it make to you. You gonna buy a tickets ?
Unless you can do a better job keep your mouth shut
Not as tough as you mate,
What have you done with your life apart from sit on ax all day talking rubbish
Now now gentlemen, has been a good topic so far put the handbags away. Am going Mr Stanton or a big come back victory for Mr Thomas, who I hear is gonna be massive for this bad Boy. All the best to all involved gonna be a top night out!
Is josh Turbill still fighting at this weight? He can go a bit. Sorry if I have misspelt your name josh.
Josh is a bit big for this, but we do have 8 men in this and all have a chance of winning
no wukkas mate, am a bit out of touch with the uk scene. good luck with the show.
Looking good Hussain.
Tournament will sort itself out and I'm sure will be a cracker!!
Always a great show and atmosphere.
Latest 8 man line up
Brad Stanton
Imran Khan
Tim Thomas
Thomas Mccormick
Ben Lucas
Andrew Loftshouse
Luca Donadio (Italy) Over 100 fight experience)
Nelson Gomez ( Portugal) Portugese Champion
Looks like you have struggled with pull-outs on this, still got some really strong lads in there though, winner has to come from Stanton, Thomas or McCormack for me though. I would say Lofthouse on paper, as he had a good tourney on Last man standing a while ago but he's gonna be small compared to say, Stanton who's a beast!
Not heard of the Italian and the portugese though both are usually tough and durable, anymore info on them?
Must be mental doing an eight man, all the best with it. Octagon is easily one of my favourite venues to
Lofthouse must be totally insane his last fight was at 60kg fair play to him for jumping in.
Lofty is fookin mental! some HUGE guys in this compared to him. Elbows can stop a fight in a second though and hes great with his so could be some upsets on the cards !
This 8 man's going to be crazy on Sunday everyone will be hyped up for this!...I'll be interested in those first fight draws as they can change the outcome and who makes the final I wouldn't rule out anyone winning this type of tournament!
What is the final line up of the Tournament?

Carlos 3x2 mins??
What happened to Tim Thomas??
Carlos is a charity boxing fight
Tim apparently family problems
What happened to the £10,000 prize, as it was only £5,000 to the winner.
The rest got split between rest of the fighters
10k total prize fund, was decent money for the lads really, £800 for losing semi finalists is pretty good for one of these tournaments.
Oh that makes sense, was confused I dont think it was announced
Great final fight
tournament results please?
Lucas bt Khan
Stanton, Lofthouse & McCormick bt the foreign lads
Stanton bt Lofthouse (couldn't continue after 1st round, think it might have been his arm. Stanton looked to strong for him anyway)
McCormick bt Lucas (stoppage low kicks)
Stanton bt McCormick (quality, looked to me for the 1st round and a half McCormick was ahead with his slippery style but Stanton is special and got through to him)
Great night for Sheffield Muy thai
What happened to Farhad Ali return fight?
