Topic:Duel Fight Sports: Bates Vs Hunt Rematch 13/4/13
ActionPromo's
Posted: 2014-01-03 16:57:15

Following on from their 12 round full contact battle in 2011, the rematch is scheduled for April 13th, 2014, this time under a 5x3 K1 rules bout.

Hopefully, this will be the start of an exciting 2014 for DUEL FIGHT SPORTS, which will also see an exciting August 24th event on DUEL#2: Mick Terrill vs Andrew KingCobra Tate, and a yet to be determined DUEL#3 November showdown.

Be a good fight, if Marlon turns up

Why did he pull out of fighting Di Paolo in September out of curiosity ?

Some Photo shoot apparently, even tho the fight was confirmed 6 months before

I am confident Marlon will turn up. We have exchanged quite a few messages and all is looking good. Contracts on the way to the fighters concerned. Marlon has a big show in Malta early March, a WBC/ISKA title fight, so should be in tip-top condition come April. Jamie is also looking very sharp so i'm expecting an exciting scrap, and a good showcase for the Duel series.

What exactly is the Duel Series? Is it exclusive to 85kg fighters?

No mate, just a brand name, though we don't run our own Mickey Mouse titles. Each event is sanctioned. It's a k1 style event, am & pro.

I would make sure you get a contract signed very early good luck with the show

Hunt rhymes with something, can't think what?

Back to the positives...

The winner of this bout should elevate them up the domestic rankings further, which is looking very exciting indeed, which i believe is something like this:-

1. Steven Wakeling
2. Andrew Tate
3. Joe McGovern
4. Marlon Hunt
5. Valentino Petrescu
6. Romi da Silva
7. Lyndon Knowles
8. Jamie Bates
9. Mike Terril
10. Richie Hocking
11. Louis King
12. Adam Hadfield
13. Shaun Rogers
14. Ben Abbott
15. Karl Langley

Then we have Terrill vs Tate in August, as well as interest from at least 4 other fighters in that division to be matched on Duel.

Charles Sikwa should be in that list somewhere too maybe?

I hope Bates beats him, I cannot stand Hunt and his self promotional 'I am so great' crap any longer.

Any chance of getting rematched with Tate again?

Where do those ranking come from?

Tate was average against Hunt... infact I think if you asked Tate about 2013, I think he would agree that it wasn't a great year for him even with 5 fights, 5 wins....

I think if Tate rematched Hunt, Tate would stop Hunt this time around...Hunt would not survive 5 rounds with Tate at his best !

Tate is a much better fighter than the Tate that turned up in his last few fights..... IMHO

Well, that's the 3 DUEL events' super-fights agreed. Fingers crossed that it all goes to plan:

APRIL 13th - Jamie Bates vs Marlon Hunt, 5x3

August 24th - Mick Terrill vs Andrew Tate
(scheduled for WKA World K-1 style title)

November 9th - Reece McAllister vs Daniel Zahra, the WKN World champ.

November will also see out 'International Finals' consisting of 4-Man Tournament Winners from Mexico, Ghana and Romania, coming across to battle it out for the first DUEL GRAND PRIX titles at 75kg & 85kg.

That not heavy for Liam James? He fights MMA at 66kg

No mate, got a few pro mma lads that want to fight heavier. One lad fights pro mma at 66kg but walks around at 82, and does k-1 rules at 75kg. The whole dieting thing baffles me.

how do they do it????
Colin Payne
Posted: 2014-02-09 06:07:46
I'm generalising here but IMO they dangerously cut weight through dehydrating their body. It's a recipe for disaster and I don't think it should be allowed

I don't know Liam well enough to say 100%, but i know for MMA he does cut a lot, and sometimes in a short period of time. The -75kg division seems a good one for him as he is a stand-and-bang type of fighter with good boxing & movement, and hits hard.

Due to a broken nose, Marlon has had to withdraw from the rematch with Jamie Bates, However, many thanks to John Jarvis from Lumpini Crawley, for being so easy to get along with, and up steps KARL LANGLEY to take on Bates.

It promises to be an action-packed bout!!

Quick update on the main card:

Jamie Bates def Karl Langley who stepped in due to Marlon's nose break. An exciting 5 round fight which seen some cracking exchanges during the early rounds. Bates came into it more and more as the fight went on, landing punch combo's as well as kicks at legs, waist and head, and rocked Langley a few times. Result was a 5th round KO for Bates.

Mike Egan def. Liam 'Simba' James, 72.5kg Points. A really good fight this with lots of shots landed by both. Skill & technique outscored aggression.

Jon Mills def Adrian Smith, rd.1 KO, body-knee. Smith took the fight at 3 days notice due to a pull out by Scott Hamilton.

Shawn Kenny def James Cannon - technical stoppage. Both fighters fell against the ropes in the 3rd and a back injury was sustained by Cannon, and unable to continue. Tough Kenny stepped in due to infection by Matty Shippen.

Ash Griffiths def. Mike Hill on points to lift the ISKA -78kg English title (k-1 rules). Another great fight that seen Ash drop Mike twice in the first with punches, but also seen a bit of a comeback from Mike in the last half of 2nd & 3rd rounds.

A great night with some great fights. Big thanks to all those that make it happen, as well as surprise visits from Duncan Airlie-James who gave some valuable advice, which was an honour.
