i think dean will be too good, thepnimit is near an exact version of pornsaneh but southpaw! wouldnt be suprised to see another broken armed southpaw! go dee jay!

Was hoping to see Dean James vs a Thai kicker, as a puncher plays into his style and a clincher will be too strong. Would be interesting to see how he deals with a technical kicking Thai.

That said, any Thai from a respectable gym will make for a quality fight though.

will be a great fight. Very good james getting the international exposure. i dont agree about the style though. He is very agressive but hes got a great left kick from what Iv seen, body and especially neck/head, and very strong. I always thought he was a good bit more technical than Pornsonnae that we see nowadays

DEAN IS SPECIAL! Probably our most technical fighter ever and some how hes added massive power to a frame that shouldn't be as strong as it is, southpaw broken arm il bet you. dean is really something now. i always knew dean had muay sauway (beautiful fighting) but hes got explosiveness a guy that 55kg's shouldnt have. the dude will get a broken arm from throwing a body shot and hitting deans elbows hes like the wooden man jongsanan

I have to disagree thepnimit is way better than pornsaneh IMO he's technically very gifted as well as having KO power. He's been one of my faves for a while and watched all his last few fights. He's a much tougher task than rungravee but dean has the tools to beat anyone good luck mate

I agree with Liam Thepnimit a good fighter and better than Porn, however I feel Dean J can beat him:)

watch this highlight video

www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR_09Oa4vFM

you can see why i likened him to a southpaw pornsaneh even when hitting pads!

its a bloody hard fight for sure, has he fought any other ferrangs? is he stadium ranked?

Will be a good fight for Dean and it's a big name if he takes the win, I was offered this fight but had to turn it down, 57 too heavy for me really and couldn't do it due to fighting on the smash show a month later . Good luck with it

This sets up an awesome fight for that wbc world title belt ive no doubt andy will beat the french opponent and dean is number 1 contender im going to go for 2 nil to england on those 2 bouts. Dean can do this for sure, Deanoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

AndyBC why did you feel the need to mention that you were offerd the fight before Dean?

Read my post clearly wishing him luck and stating it will be a good fight for him. That's all I have to say to you.

Why didn't you just write good luck dean then andy ? Instead putting your two pence In yet again on a ax thread.
AndyBC
Posted: 2014-06-30 09:53:27
Okay maybe i put it across wrong, I was simply meaning to state i was gutted i couldn't accept the fight due to other commitments and wishing Dean luck as its a huge chance for him on a big stage. Not really sure how that was taken as offensive or (putting my two pence in or whatever), but simply wish i could have taken the opportunity as not long left fight wise so would have been nice, but more importantly wishing Dean a huge good luck for a fight that could boost his career yet again.

A fight like this is massive for Dean and would have been great for Andy too, especially with the growth of Lion Fight and their recent deal to have several more events in the Foxwoods Casino Resort.

Fair enough AndyBC if you feel you need to mention you could of had the fight before Dean. I suppose theres no harm in letting the community know that.

If the fight goes ahead and neither party pulls out as it seems to happoen a lot at the top level I think Thepnimit will win possibly by stoppage. He's fought at a higher level for much longer and is so dangerous.

Good luck to both fighters

Agree Thepnimit TKO/KO or DJ on points if he can weather the storm. He's definitely a lot better than Rungravee so it'll be a tough fight for sure.

DEan is good to watch and this will be a good figh but i would not say Dean is special. he hasn't accomplished anything like Liam harrison and jordan watson yet. Di he actually break someones arm?
Good luck Dean i hope you can do it.
paulinthailand

dean is special mate, hes not accomplished what liam and jordan has due to him only having 22 fights, he doesnt fight often but il guarantee you hes as good as anyone with 60 fights in the world! that makes you special. dean is hard like wood and for southpaws that is always going to be a problem for their left arm he will torch the left arm with kicks, arms and rock hard shins always come off worse. like said before if dean doesnt get ko'd which i dont think iv seen him ever take a count (although i know this guy is a different creature) he will out score him, think how good rungravee was everyone thought he was near unbeatable, dean schooled him. i thought he would lose that fight with not having enough to hold rungravee away but rungravess was shook by deans power right away, dean has got a lot stronger everywhere especially his punching from the looks of his last outing

"Dean is nothing special"

How do you define special? What is your personal preference/criteria when thinking of a "special" fighter?

Technique?
Dean has for years been one of the most technical fighters on the circuit, the fact he has to date beaten a number of fighters with 2,3 times his ring experience and infact was voted the "most technical fighter" some years ago by fighters magazine kinda makes that point

Who he's beaten?
In his first 7/8 fights he beat the number one in at least one division in the UK, within his next few fights he beat Sevastian Ocana (pos) and in about his 15th he beat Varats (100+ fights) for a European title in the division above his. Cleared out a few touted Europeans without breaking much of a sweat then clearly beat another TOP tier fighter with 3 times the experience in Andy Howsen.... Twice . Very close loss (his first genuine loss, the Irish lad was a robbery see the footage) by a point to Rungravee, avenged next time out with a stoppage.

He is without a doubt the best 55kg fighter in the world outside of Thailand

What makes him "special", in my eyes all the above, the fact he fights from 54-58 to test himself and wins, in style. Or the fact he is the most humble fighter iv met, which may explain why he doesn't get the opportunities he should, if you look at mainstream sports stars, it's not just their abilities in their chosen fields but their story along the way that sets them apart. Raj, take a few minutes and you will see what I mean.

Jordan and Liam are also "special" some of the reasons are similar some are different I suppose it's an individual thing

Dean is amazing. Considering he started late and hasn't really had that many fights. He has beat the best where others couldn't. Easy the best fighter out side of Thailand.
Tom
Posted: 2014-07-09 01:50:24
He's at a weight grade where he'll be fighting top Thais at their natural weight. Liam and Jordan will never get that at their higher weights.

I think Dean has one of the nicest Thai styles for any foreigner I've seen. Still a few years away before we can assess how good he is. I'd like to see him fight some Thai technicians which he has yet to do (Rungravee ain't a technician).

Certainly a very exciting prospect whose career I want to continue watching. It's a shame he can't base himself in Thailand for a few years and fight on the domestic circuit there to improve exponentially and really test himself.

Let's not forget to Dean this is a hobby , a sport which he loves and dedicates what he can to it but ultimately is not his job , not what he can do day in day out unlike the opposition he will have now infront of him .... Not special you say Raj mboxer ?? Being able to step Into the ring with the names he has and will be in with is special in it's own right . From the very first day in the gym to now I can assure Deans path has been special and it's still going on ! Deans achievement in and out of the ring is special ... He is special ... Take a little more thought about a fighter and what he gives up daily to do what he does as a hobby and that makes anyone special but I assure you dean more so !

Rungravee is very technical you don't win channel 7 stadium belts by not being technical he can scrap and he can play the game so many foreigners have failed against rungravee Dean is one of the only few to of beat him and done it legit and in fashion.

All the fights Dean will have will be tough now and he will be the underdog but he's doing what a lot of people can't do and also I love liam and Jordan as fighters (I look up to them) but thepnimit is on par with the opposition they come across in sure they'd even agree, this country has amazing future in this sport we should all get behind our own instead of being negative!

Good luck Deano!

People seem very defensive when opposing the general opinion here. Raj even said he wants Dean to win but thinks he's not special and you all jump down his throat. No wonder there's no fans in this sport with such negative people. On another note, who cares if he's humble, who cares if it's his hobby and who cares if he's such a nice guy. The main thing is that he gets the fights he needs to continue to improve. A lot of you seem to base his ability on his personality and that he's your friend and this is a tragic thing to do. Let his skills do the talking. Dean has done well coming back from a one sided loss to being able to stop him in the return match, this is a big achievement. It's good to see him now stepping up to fight the hugher level Thai opponents.

I have spoke to Lion Fight and they are expecting a lot from Thepnimit so a win for Dean would be massive and could potentially see him pushed in the Lion Fight title frame

The first fight wasnt a one sided loss, Rungravee couldnt compete on the outside and took it around the waist clinch only to get a points win

I rarely write on here but saying Dean James isn't a special talent in this country is ridiculous I'd say him and Liam H are setting a massive standard in this country at the moment.
