K-1 Open Amateur World Championships 2014

The first official K-1 Open World Amateur Championships will take place at the London Soccerdome on the 13th & 14th September 2014 as part of the SENI the International Combat Sports show.

The K-1 World Amateur Championships will be open to all clubs, associations and organisations worldwide and will include divisions for men, women and children.

SENI promoter Mr Paul Alderson said we are really pleased to be hosting the inaugural K-1 Open in London it’s a great addition to the number of World Class Martial Arts and Combat Sports events that make up the SENI show.

K-1 Global Director of Events Mr Ned Kuruc said K-1 has never done a Amateur World Championships before or endorsed an Amateur Championships, there might be a lot of K-1 Rules champions out there, but this is the first official K-1 Open World Championships, the first time K-1 will officially recognise Amateur Champions. Muay Thai, Karate, Kung fu, Kickboxing, Boxing, Taekwondo, Savate, Kyokushin and all Martial Artists can now test their skills under official K-1 rules and become a real K-1 Champion.

The adult categories will be separated by A class and B class with weight divisions for men and women, Junior and Cadet categories will be separated by age, weight and level of contact permitted.

The K-1 Open World Amateur Championships will be pre-entry only, weight in and registration on be on Friday the 12th September 2014 for more information email k1worldopen@gmail.com

One question, do the winners in the senior a get a chance to enter the K1 arena?

If it gives people access to the k1 arena, its worth every penny. People paid £20 to enter ours, and get a chance to travel.

I would be interested in getting the elimination on again if i can set the fee @ £40

I can't see a winner of an amateur event being selected to go into a K-1 pro tourney. It's fantastic that K-1 is running amateur events, i think they could've brought the costs down an awful lot of they just held it in a sports centre.

Meh, you need to make the decision, do you want K-1 to be a prestigious brand with credibility or do you want it to be another Sunday lunchtime leisure centre tournament?

That said, I'm not sure that an am light contact tourney doesn't dilute the image anyway.

A few comments about it being expensive but expensive compared to what? Most Amateur World Championship charge between 60 to 80 euros

ISKA Amateur World Championships pre-entry 60 euro late entry 75 euro
WKA Amateur World Championships pre-entry 60 euro late entry 80 euro
WKU Amateur World Championships pre-entry 80 euro

Plus what other WORLD tournament can you become official K1 champ and get your award presented by the legendary Peter Aerts!!

Also bear in mind with the entry price you are also into the SENI & UK MMA Expo shows for free!

Not expensive at all most people spend that money every weekend on getting drunk etc and this is BIG why look for negativity; UK should be honoured to have the very very 1st ever K-1 amateur tournament in the UK plus if you have 5 entrants then the coaches go free!
Come on let's all meet and show them all what we are made off; UK DOMINATION for me ;-)
