KING OF THE RING ? independent super world title till 70 kg under Kick rules
Michael Zambidis ( Greece ), European KING OF THE RING ( Japanese rules )
vs
Wanlop Sosathapan ( Thailand ), World champion KING OF THE RING 72,5 kg ( Japanese rules )

For sure the best fight of the evening with two top class champions where Michael Zambidis won this fight unanimously on points after Wanlop was two times on the floor in 4th round. Beside that, all credits goes to Wanlop as well as taking in consideration that due to some visa and travel problems he arrived in the morning of the day of the fight, he gave excellent fight and even won the last 5th round in a discipline and weight category which was not his favourite one. This level of the fighters proof the difference and quality of the independent super star rankings which are reserved only for the best.

Prestige fight Thai/kickboxing rules till 81 kg
Aurelien Duarte ( France ) vs Frederick Rosenberg ( Sweden )
Aurelien Duarte proof once more that he is one of the best fighters in the world till 80 kg and despite his injury, his comeback was more than good. Although Rosemberg is not un experienced fighter, Duarte caught him immediately in first round with one excellent middle kick after which Rosenberg was counted. It was sign for very close end which arrived in 2nd round by very precise punch which put definitely down Rosenberg.

REMARKS:

Another very good show from a series KICKBOXING SUPERSTAR organised by Mr. Lino Guaglianone with full support from INTERNATIONAL TOP STAR PROMOTIONS by Mr. Harry Gorian as official matchmaker , with some great fights. Matchmaking was very good and most of the fights were very close ( specially fights in the tournament ).

Biggest positive surprise:

Babis Papadoupolous from Greece was biggest positive surprise as he gave excellent fight against living legend Changpeuk Kiatsonglit. Obviously not his speciality, Babis show great technical skills ( specially excellent kicking abilities ) and courage and definitely he showed that he can fight with the best fighters in the world. In any case, we will hear about this excellent fighter more.

Biggest negative surprise:

Regarding his big reputation, Changpeuk Kiatsonglit didn?t show a lot although we must admit that he was tierd as he arrived in the morning of the event. In any case he has qualified for emi finals and we hope we will see another Changpeuk.

Best fighter:

Michael Zambidis from Greece deserve that title as he is definitely one of the best if not the best fighter in the world till 70 kg.

Best fight:

Michael Zambidis ( Greece ) vs Wanlop Sosathapan ( Thailand )
Excellent fight, where Zambidis shoed no respect to Wanlop and from first second of first round showed that he intend to finish this fight as quick as possible. Despite of some excellent punches and kicks received from Zambidis, Wanlop was willing to accept such fight and he was trying to avoid dangerous punches of Zambidis and with very powerful kicks to stop him. Unfortunately for Wanlop, in round 4 Zambidis succeeded to put two times Wanlop on the floor with precise and very powerful punches and only thanks to great physical and mental preparation for this fight Wanlop succeeded to survive. Even seriously damaged, he succeeded to win last round but putting Zambidis in defence hopping to find miraculous kick or punch which could put Zambidis down. At the end, Zambidis won unanimously the fight and as a real champion, Wanlop by himself putted the belt of the KING OF THE RING around Zambidis showing that he really respect him as the best fighter in the world.

Hallo,
First Zambidis is a great kickboxer and he won the fight. This fight was on Kickboxing rules. No Knees, no grabling and no elbows. Only kick and punch. Zambidis stay with the Kickboxing you are a great champion in this style. Muaythai is a different sport. wanlop had a lot of problem when Zambidis came in with the close fighting he wanted to graple (didn't want to make fouls) and was not thinking about the boxing so Zambidis had the good strategie. This was Wanlops first Kickboxing fight and did well
It was 5 rounds of fighting.

Changpuek likes when people hit him with punches. so he can kick or punch back.
When Chang not open some space the other fighter he will not come. Chang is then waiting for the other fighter to make mistakes. Chang was disapoint in the result because the fight was on K1 rules and the points are as follow.the most points in K1 rules.1 Knees to the head 2 knees to the body 3 kicks to the head, Middle and low part and as last the boxing. And only the hard stokes the judges must cound. As everybody know Chang only makes hard strokes. Chang was 3 rounds hard kicking. knees and some punches fighting.Bellonie was the beter boxer but not the beter kicker and did not work with the knees. So ???

ps. Ww arrived 9.00 O'clock in the morning from Bangkok. To the hotel. Wanlop must lose 1 kilo more (fight 70 kilo) Check the body weight 11.00. 12.00 eating.
13.00 time to go sleep. 18.00 left to the stadium docter check. first fight Chang 21.30 enz. We arrived late because the Ambassie from Italy didn't want to give a Visa. Few time to Bangkok with Chang and Wanlop. (Pattaya-Bangkok-Pattaya 320 kilo) after they want to give a visa but only on Friday afternoon. Friday evening up to Milan Italy. The organizer helped with everything and thanks to harry Gorian help we were able to go to Milan. So Wanlop and Chang made greats fights

Congrats with the trip Frank. My hat goes off to fighters that are willing to try other styles. I'm sure Wanlopfought a great fight. Nice to see him take on the best in KB and be very competitive. Cheers

Hi Frank,

well to tell you the truth, I dont like MT fighters fight KB rules especialy Thais. People that do not know better than take that as the ultimate outcome and bash MT for loosing to KB. I never take lowkick fights for my fighters as I think it is totally different, can you imagine Rudo fight without knees and clinch, he would get killed. As farest I know Zam has only fought 3 matches with knees and none with elbows. 1. match lost on RSC knee to the head Kit Cope
2.won on points against JWP - the decision is still causing flamboyant discussions about how JWP just kneed him on will.
3. K-1 fight against Kraus - now officialy it was a knee fight but both Zam and Kraus do not knee so it was not not a knee match.
Respect to Zam for fighting the best Thais and MT stylist under the KB rules and beating them, but his ability is very questionable in the oposite situation.
I think if he does really want to be the best he really has to find the curage and get himself to THA learn how to clinch and try his luck in Lumpiny and Radjamadern. Thats were the top of the world fights. Winning in anyother competition is of a much lesser value for me and others/the ones that know/ I believe.
Frank when you were in Italy did you speak to Zam about his future fights in MT or maybe K-1 rules?
Is his team considering fight him in THA or not. I hope he will not become one of those protected fighters.
What is your opinion on all this Frank?
Please say Hi to Alex for me and tell him I will send him a mail soon.

Thanx
Paul

Guys, I think Zam would have had quite a few more than 3 knee fights.

He had 3 alone in the K1 Max Oceania. He was stopped in a knee fight in the previous Oceania, plus has had a couple in Holland I believe. So I figure that 10 knee fights is probably closer if we include Kraus and Wanlop.

Paul thanx for the added info I did not know about the oceania knee matches but I knew about some holland fights but I was not sure if they were with knees. And if I am not sure I will not rather post it. Even after your added info, I noticed he had problems with the knees.

Sure a great knee fighter makes Mike fight a little differently. He showed Parr a lot more respect than other fighters we've just seen him cut through and annihilate. But I have to say that I feel he coped really well.

I'd love to see the Kraus and Wanlop fights.

Well, I seen numerous Kraus fights, 2 live and rest on tape. Also seen some Wanlops fights on tape.
If it would be under full MT rules Kraus has no chance, under K-1 rules he might have a punchers chance. But I see it as Wanlop would have easily overtaken the fights with knees and clinch.
I personally would like to see Zam fight Wanlop one more time under full MT rules.
Frank is there any chance this fight will happen?

Hallo Dynamo,
When you like to promote a fighter like Wanlop you must take many fights you dondn't like. I promote Wanlop long time and difficult to get fights for him outside Thailand. Wanlop is a very good MT fighter and is a good boxer. So we take the fight with Zam. Wanlop has for this first fight KB rules nothing to lose (against Zam. who is in KB long time unbeaten) because he is a MT fighter. I like to see a remach in KB because it was a close fight (exept round 4) and Wanlop has a littlebit experience now in KB. Wanlop is a good boxer but could no show it because he was thinking to much not to clinch. Please a remach in K1 or MT rules than Wanlop not need to think what to do. Wanlop wil fight everybody up till 72.5 kilo

About Rudolf please never let him fight KB he is a 100% MT fighter.

Paul
Wanlops fight with Zam. was with no knees, only kick and punch

Hallo Frank,

I will never let Rudo fight KB or Boxing, allthrough he has matches in both and he did pretty good, not great but good. His KB record is like 4wins 1 loss and Boxing is around 1 win 2 losses. But it was at the beggining of his career and there was not enough MT fights around so he took whatever he could.
As for Wanlop goes he tried something new and he did pretty well, so I guess if he trains more for that kind of fight he will find his way.
Where are your boys fighting next Frank? I hope we meet at some gala in Europe.
