H2H SHOCKWAVE
Canada vs. Japan, the UK and the USA in World Class Muay Thai!
Calgary has been anticipating the return of world class, quality Muay Thai since the last successful, sold out event, H2H Apocalypse rocked the The Space! The Calgary Amateur Kickboxing & MuayThai Association (CAKMA), the Calgary SUN, and CJAY 92 presents the return of World Class Muay Thai to Calgary on the 23rd of September, 2006!! This event promises to be a knock out. H2H SHOCKWAVE is the 47th event to be sanctioned by the Canadian Muay Thai Council - Amateur (designated Canadian Representative of the International Federation of MuayThai Amateur, World MuayThai Council and World Kickboxing Association).
The Battle for the Answer - Jesse Miles vs. Ian Coe
Canada's Jesse 'Smiles' Miles steps up to the plate against England's Ian Coe. The two athletes were slated to battle at the 2006 IFMA World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand during the quarter final bout. Unfortunately it never happened... but now it will!
Having fought in the 2006 IFMA World Muay Thai Championships in June of this year, Miles was well on his way to a Gold Medal. During Jesse's progress through the eliminations, he fought a tall, tough, and awkward athlete from Iran. The Iranian athlete was to grab Jesse in an illegal back break and injure Jesse's back. Once the athletes were separated from the foul by the referee, Jesse unleashed one of the most vicious knockout's ever seen. A straight right knocked the Iranian athlete out on his feet and a thundering left hook followed up which laid the Iranian out on the canvas for 15 minutes.
With the win Jesse had earned his right into the quarter finals against the UK's Ian Coe. But severe damage had been shelled out to Jesse's back. Once the adrenaline stopped flowing, Jesse could not stand up straight or rotate his torso. After several days of rest, chiropractic work, and Thai massage, Jesse could not continue and had to pull out of the event after KO'ing all his opponents in the tournament, walking away with only a Bronze Medal.
Wanting to know for himself how he could have faired in the event, Miles is slated to square off with England's Ian Coe as scheduled at the IFMA World Championships. If Miles wins this bout then his final quest for the answer will be a match up against the Gold Medal winner, Shawn Yarborough of the USA. "If I win this bout then I want to match up against Shawn (Yarborough). He is a good fighter but... I want to show him what he would have been up against for the Gold had I not been injured. But first.... Ian!"
Miles has a lot to prove to himself in this match and it promises to be a war not to be forgotten!
The card will also feature three top ranked Canadian athletes taking on Muay Thai talent from Japan. Calgary's Scott Clark, Sandra Bastian, and Phil Leier, take on Japan's Yanagawa, Koyanagi, and Nashiro respectively.
Calgary's Muay Thai athletes are world class and will be challenged by the world's best when Japan, the UK and USA set down at H2H Shockwave to uphold their international reputation!!
