Hey Darren and Liam - yeah, it's a little weird going from a world challenge to a british challenge, and too be honest, Darren hit the nail on the head, none of our people care for titles much, but if it allows the promoters to push a show in terms of interest or advertising then so be it, particularly in the women's game, where matches can be sporadic, feast then famine in terms of availability of opponents. I would rather the fighters got paid more rather than sanction fees etc going towards a title shot, but that's cause i'm a tight scot! Ideally Hil would like to be fighting full rules all the time, apart from anything else, inconsistency of rules is just another factor in being prepared for the fight that can chew up some valuable mental space. In the women's game it's difficult to find concensus, it's bad enough moving fighters from a to b class, but if you want your fighters to remain busy, then it is necessary to accept this as part of the deal.
Ultimately, title or not, it's the quality of the people you fight that matter, and I am grateful to Tricia to have organised quality international opposition so that Hilary can showcase why she is the best 53kg fighter in the uk at the moment, with or without elbows.
To the fighters - Hil, Jo, and Kirsty - we believe! cheers to all the caley crew, and lanark dinky ninjas for the hard work. See you all on saturday. Ladykillers rocks.
