I trained (and still do) under Peter Stewart who trained under Master Toddy, i would go sometimes with Peter to Master Toddys Gym and learn and listen (i was 14yrs old)
Master Toddy told Peter that we are all part of a very big family, Peter relayed that to me as a kid training under him, i am still loyal to Peter after all these years, arguments, disagreements and the like.
I have had offers to join this association, that association, be a rep for this and that, but i still remain loyal to Peter who is my Master.
We have Mike who is in Thailand teaching English for last 10 years he is Kru also, the chain is there, other Kru are in Europe and the chain is strong.
Peter still speaks with Master Toddy via telephone, i wont make decisions regarding my training sylllabus style, reps, instructors or other important things regarding Eagles Thai Boxing Wales, we have a good name locally and we wish to promote Muay Thai positively.
I now let 4 of my students take classes for me, one now has his own club. Peter had the final say in the matter (the chain will stay strong).
It is about respect for your teacher, why do the Wai kru if you dont respect who first taught you?
The chain comes down from the beginning, is strong and is now spreading out.
i believe the chain Sandy refers to is the Family hat Master Toddy referred to all those years ago, some parts of the family are strong.
For the Thais family is everything - our community is now a lot stronger than the old days, i remember years ago clubs wouldnt fight because they came from different associations, now it doesnt matter it is about the art, the family is getting stronger!!!
I spoke with Master Sken last year about Ajarn Yodhtong, Master Sken holds Ajarn Yodhtong in great esteeem and quotes him as his guide and mentor - the chain is strong.
Many years ago we (Eagles Wales) were joined to Nigel Howletts organisation, due to a number of reasons we broke away but when i see Nigel at shows i still afford the respect he deserves (i did my first instructor grade under Nigel) Nigel was another of my teachers and i respect him - the chain is still strong.
