Well organised show as per from Jesse...thanks for the meal pal and for looking after us well. It was a really good weekend...big thanks to Si, Alix and Marc, who certainly helped to make it more enjoyable(all really great lads). I know some may have thought it strange that Wainey and Alix spent the weekend socialising, having a laugh and then fighting each other but for me that is what MuayThai is about...friendship and kicking the crap out of each other lol. Alix, making some minor changes in style is the easy bit mate... Si trying to teach you to be a tough, strong SOB wouldn't be so easy...but you don't need to make any improvements in those departments. Being so near to each other, it will be good for both our gyms to spend some more time training together, I am sure we would all benefit from it.
I didn't get to see that many fights but the bits I did see looked exciting. I did catch part of Jay's fight with Gordon...saw Jay considering another elbow war but deciding he didn't just want more than his mom to think he looked handsome after the fight, so decided against it and stayed on the outside in this one. Although I didn't see the whole fight it looked close and technical, well done both. I didn't see Jenny's fight (Newbury) but was pleased she won after her really hard fight in Crawley.
Sheree's performance against Bonnie was outstanding. Sheree has spent 5 and a half months in Thailand training with Pimu (which is bloody hard and an achievement in itself), came back worked really hard on consolidating changes in her style with Liam and me and it all paid off. She was outstanding in her use of a full range of weapons, which she applied clinically to win every round of her fight. Well done Sheree (Pimu would have been as proud of you as Liam and me were).
I know Bonnie was disappointed with her performance against Sheree but she should be proud of the courage and warrior spirit she showed; she really does have a heart the size of England. Technique can always to tuned up and changed here and there but nobody can teach that type of courage. Well done Bonnie...you are really a credit to yourself and your gym...you showed real courage in the fight and dignity in defeat.
I was also really proud of Wainey in his performance against Alix. Excellent performance mate. Wainey was really, really disappointed in his last performance in Woking, where he felt he had let himself down and was determined to make changes to his technique and it has paid off. We knew Alix was going to be a tough fight. Alix is always strong determined and always up for a war. However, Wainey stuck to the game plan and looked sharp and kicked and kneed very hard. Alix remained dangerous throughout the fight and was landing strong knees and elbows but Wainey kept his cool and countered really well. Alix and Si have a great attitude to the sport and Alix will definitely be back stronger still...probably very soon knowing him.
Good supportive atmosphere in the changing room...good to catch up with everyone again. Well doe again Jesse.
