Hi Samy01,
Yes you read right I was trained by George Wellington as well,in fact he was my very first and most important instructor regarding kickboxing,I first began with George around 1978 at his gym in Sheffield,I was living in Doncaster back then.George was the chief instructor for Lau Gar Kung Fu and taught over in Doncaster a few times, one day he advertised a new class at his gym in Sheffield teaching 'Full Contact Karate'. In those days fighting full contact was considered the ultimate and people were still under the belief that one kick or punch could kill you!!!
Anyway I did'nt die after my first lesson [although I felt like it.lol] and was hooked on this new sport I stayed with George until around the mid 80's and he was like my best instructor, friend and father all rolled into one,I had tremendous respect for this great man and always will.During my times with George I went to many shows in Birminghameither to watch, fight or sometimes he would take me to spar with some top Lau Gar fighters.George himself was always in peak condition and had amazing technical skills he did'nt fight full contact too often but I was always in awe of him when he did.One of Georges best fights was against Brighton's Chris Kent who was one of Britains best fighters in those early days of the P.K.A in Britain,I think they fought to a draw.
Sadly George Wellington died during the 80's at the tender age of 34 from an heart defect,I'd gone my own way by that time but George's death nearly made me pack it all in I was so upset...here are some pics...Phil
