Glad you like the pictures Mick,a reunion is a great idea I've still got some of those old fights with Sean Cassidy,Paul Senior,Martin Utley, etc as we were all on the same shows at the Barnsley Metrodome and luckily for me I had the support of the Barnsley crowd then and they were brilliant.
In the very early eighties in Barnsley many shows were held at the Londoner Pub in Monk Bretton,it was a great venue, the referee looked like an old ex boxer, the crowd were very noisy and charged up on beer,if you were'nt from Barnsley and you were fighting a local you were in deep trouble!,I remember local hardnut John Everard used to have problems getting an opponent and one night I remember him going round the audience trying to get anyone to fight him and he did, that's how it was in them days!Looking back it was funny to think that people struggled to keep up with the six kicks per round ruling, also I remember being able to use hip throws then as well.
Arthur had a great following in Barnsley,he was an ex miner and one of the lads always up for a fight in the ring and a great crowd pleaser too, you're right Mick a website devoted to these golden years would be lovely and a great tribute to the pioneers of Kickboxing or Thai Boxing in this country...Phil
