Firstly, thank you to all the clubs – it was a bad weekend weather wise but everyone made it, and also thank you to the spectators, because by 6.00pm, it was really snowing hard, so it would have been a slippery journey even for the locals.

Just to update on Mike Nudd, saw him this morning, he decided not to go to hospital last night, but I don’t think his jaw is broken…. Last night his jaw was out of line, this morning it is swollen (but he said he has had worse!) and he is chattering away, it definitely should be looked at, but think he’ll be fine.

I was really looking forward to Lucy & Gemma, lucy’s knee popped early in round 1 so the fight had to stop – but was a bout which looked like it would have been a good one… will someone please put that match on again..
Rachael Ball (56kg) has had 1 loss & 1 demo, so a real novice, took my eye She beat Kirsty who was a gallant opponent, I think she will grow into a real female contender at that weight. I would like to see Rachael come back & fight Lucy.

Myah Williams again, a real novice only having 1 demo previously, fought really well. Shaun’s lad is still 15, 60kg, Myah not long turned 16, 61.5kg, but Myah was 5ft 2 & Jordon was 6ft 2! Really good performance by Myah, & I really think he will develop into a class fighter. That said, Jordon has his first fight out the way now, and I am expecting him to come back with the St. Georges winning reputation soon.

From what I saw of Joss Gilberts fight, this again is someone who will make a good mark in FC, please keep the 2 disciplines Joss!

Danny Harkin was superb… this being only his 2nd fight and he performed with comfort in all departments…

Ricky Atkins also had his 1st fight and again, his performance indicates that he is a definite prospect.

Dalton gave a wicked performance, well done..

I don’t think I saw any of these fights all the way through, so these comments are limited & based on what I saw… I’m sure others can elaborate!

Shaun Hurdman deservingly took the midland area title, he & Haroon had a real battle… its 1 win each now… this is definite a trilogy in the making, but I can’t wait! Worth also mentioning that both lads weighed in at 61.5kg, so I think we have established the weight that they belong in, the title category reflecting this lighter weight.

I didn’t see enough of the other fights, apart from Rob & Mike….
Rob stole the show really, with a complete & faultless performance. Did you all see the 360 kick???!!! At such close range, to do a 360 & land it was brilliant… ! Mike is a diamond though, tough through & through, a real sportsman, and entertained the crowd in his own unique way. He officially has the best ‘nutter face’ in the ring that I have ever seen. He called Rob on, laughing (with phsyco eyes!!) giving real value entertainment. I would recommend the Touch Gloves team to any show, a pleasure to deal with from start to finish and great people.

On a personal note, just wanted to talk about the amateur developement. When we first started MAGB shows, the only 2 clubs really who embraced the definition was H & Neil. Rob & Sam were fighting full contact by then.
In fairness, Paul Sutton & Paul Hennessy would accommodate it, but there was still restrictions as to where to take these fighters.
On a lot of shows, seasoned pros were still fighting 3 rounds and many novices were getting in the ring with them… The experiment was to push the am / pro divide.

I can remember getting to a point where MAGB was still the only show to be consistent with the am rules, & the realisation that maybe no one else would do it ( do you remember that conversation at the emerald neil!!). Colin Payne finally budged & changed his mind & took the magb concept to his show… CJP did it on wako shows and things began to shift.

With Carl & Colin joining IKF & making the decision to endorse the concept of a proper amateur circuit, we are moving to a place where the whole mind set is being turned. Even Douggy Harrison & Shaun Greatex!!! & I though changing Colin’s mind was a victory!!

This is not a political post – its an emotional one. The original 3 amigo’s, Rob Sam & then Qas are proof of the pudding, but there are now SOOO many others now… I am really really proud of so many performances from novices, to watch them develop through an amateur career, & then to see them turn into pro fighters who do the word ‘pro’ justice… well, it makes it all worth it!

Again thanks to everyone, well done.
