Base Muay Thai will be hosting a junior event on Sunday 16th August. The gym can now cater for 150 seated spectators as we have removed all the fitness equipment, plus purchased chairs and covering for the mats.
We plan to hold a junior event on a regular basis as we are finding it hard to get juniors matched as most sports centres have stopped under 18s competing due to the channel 4 documentary. Over the last couple of years the number of juniors who wish to compete has grown rapidly and many are left disappointed, as there is a lack of shows to cater for them.
Lets give the juniors a chance to forge out a career in junior Muay Thai before entering the adult ranks. If done on a regular basis, we can get a ranking system in place and have junior Scottish champions who can now get the experience they need to compete in the British championships and the World amateurs.
STBA official Mr Frank Watkins will be appointing 3 qualified judges and referee. This is also an opportunity to educate future judges as we will have 3 shadow judges at each event with an evaluation being given by Frank after each show.
Having spoke to Mel from P4tv there is a chance that we can get the junior shows aired. All juniors will receive a large salver with their names engraved, plus trophies will be awarded to the best bout and most promising junior.
This invitation is open to all gyms. If you have any juniors who wish to compete please send their details asap.
