Well summised above. Its not just a case of who can push you the hardest, but who can help you along the way and give you feedback. Although some guys may work at different paces (Serm/Rajasak for example), they both work you in different ways.
I suppose a good padman will tick all the boxes:
- Building combinations
- Timing
- Feedback
- Working counters (padwork is not one-way traffic)
A good padman should always leave you with a lesson, its just whether you are able to pick up on it.
I know a certain trainer who alot of people dont like doing pads with, but I get on well with him, as I have figured out what he wants me to do. He is not so much concerned with hitting the pads but footwork/balance inbetween.
The key is remaining a student, and always having someone to tell you where you are going wrong.....whether its telling you or showing you.
In Thailand the best guys I have had hold pads for me are Rajasak, Waterachai, Serm Damriram, Camron, Suphanoi and Mr Daeng. The hardest hitting, meanest padman has to be Chakar Sorvorapin.....he used to leather me! :) lol
In the UK, Richard Smith, Badger, Rajasak, Duwao, Mr Daeng and Chainoy
