it seems to be such a touchy subject nowadays...should fighters distance run etc? All sorts of fitness experts now saying that they shouldnt due to strain on the joints! and the old argument of how its not fight specific! We still run though, there are benefits alongside the down points, as there are to anything!

our lads do some longer runs in the first 2-3 weeks of fight training, dont really measure it in miles just about 40 min run, bit longer if they have weight to shift. they do it twice a week thats all, then after first couple of weeks or so change to flat interval sprints and a big hill run (slow run not sprint) then last 4 weeks of training interval sprints once a week, hill sprints twice a week and big hill run on a sat.

the mma fighters train a bit differently though, but they still run/sprint in some capacity. they resistance sprint also (dragging tyres etc).

horses for courses really mate! trial and error. some people suffer from shin splints, some peoples knees cant hack running a lot. different stuff for the individual really!
