Super-fight: Saenchai outpoints Penake

A Phuket super-fight that never was; Rawai’s former star Saenchai (who spent a year training near Nai Harn Beach, and left recently) versus a man from, of all places, Patong, Penek.

Well now, with p4p God Saenchai winning the Lumpinee Stadium lightweight title against long time rival Sagetdao, and Penek (also known as Pen-ake) soundly defeating Sam-A and becoming Sportswriters of Thailand Fighter of the Year in the process, the time was ripe for a truly delicious matchup. And that matchup just occurred;

Saenchai soundly outpointed Penek (Pen-ake) over five rounds in the Lumpinee Stadium, Bangkok, mecca of Muay Thai.

Saenchai apparently sustained a cut in round 4, but throughout the fight controlled the pace and landed the cleaner strikes. The current Fighter of the Year was a game opponent, and the young man is undoubtedly on a great learning curve tonight. The day will come when it is his hand raised in the biggest superfight in Thailand, as it was last time against Sam-A. Penek’s time at the top (for more than four weeks) will come, but in 2012, the old master still just has too much in the locker.
