K1, MMA, Kick-boxing, full contact are just generic terms and not the actual names of the arts practiced. Sports such as Kyokushinkai, Muay Thai,San Shaou, Boxing etc are the actual names of the fighting arts practised so tend to be more in an elite niche.

Originally in the 1970's when Kick-boxing began it's roots it was known as Full contact 'Karate', then Full contact. Different rule sets came in (minimum kick, low kick etc) and we had the divide.

To 'kick and box' became kick-boxing. Was massive in the USA before MMA. The PKA (professional 'Karate' association) were the UFC of the 80's.

It's great to see that Martial arts are still booming around the World since the 'Golden era' and boom of the 1970's.

Back to topic........ I hope that you do get the opportunity Andy and that your contract is honoured, you are a great fighter and ambassador for our art and sport here in the UK
