Can't express how immensely proud I am of everybody's hard work on sunday - The team at caledonian/ griphouse really came of age, in terms of fighters and support, onstage and backstage. We have tried really hard last year to improve our knowledge of how to win the sport of muay thai, but not losing sight of the fact that it is a fight ultimately. I think all our people showed this at the event - the cornering advice was sound, and the fighters responded to it. They could respond because they sweated, bled, and exhausted themselves in almost every session.
I would be apalled if people watching the fights thought that the decisions were rigged! We have always provided neutral judging at our events, in this case 1 english, 1 usa, 1 scot (from a different club / association). The Meikle /Jose fight was first class, was weird for me personally as I have great respect for Craig, and have come to reckon him as a friend in the Muay Thai world, but for this fight, had to see him only as Stevie's very dangerous opponent. I thought the fight came down to the last round, and I think Stevie tipped the balance to take a close win. Is there scope for a rematch in the future?, yeah, probably, although Stevie stepped up in weight for this one. I'm delighted for Gordon - originally a 120kg lazy b**tard from the southside, and now the welterweight champion of Scotland - not a dry eye in the house my friend! Apart from Jordan/ Jonno match being totally awesome, one of the best parts of the day was seing the two lads sitting, chatting watching the title fight after they had knocked seven bells out of each other, inspiring stuff. Thank you list is huge, know who you are, you rock. even dave fensom;-)
