Whakatane Mortal Combat results?

Willy Rewi from Wairoa kick boxing club wins NZTBA North Island light welterweight title against his late notice opponent Robert Russel from Dave Gahns Rotorua gym. Good effort by both boys, but Willy was the sharper of the two,working his hand combo's with speed and accuracy, while Robert looked dangerous with strong kicks all the way to the end.

A unanimous points decision win to Willy,who has the very good fortune of having Tojo Dixon as a mentor to his trainer and father August Rewi.
This was both boys first 5 rounder, held under Full Muay Thai rules. The under card bouts were very entertaining from what i can recall,but the results i can not remember, largely due to whatever it was they kept putting in my glass ;-)
