Topic:How Much Weight Should You Lose For A Fight?
How much weight should you lose for a fight? and how shoudl you go about losing the weight? What % of you walk around body weight should you lose to be at your strongest? Also, how do the top rank fighters lose the weight the day before and how long do they usually stay in the sauna for? Im only 15 and currenly weighting 62kg and dont think i should be fighting at the weight im walkign around at and I just always wanted to know how much weight people usually lose comign up to a fight.
Thanks
If you are fighting at 60kg and you are 65kg all you have to loose is 5kg. What ever the weight is set at and what you are is the difference. You can do it on a caculator if its easier.
You and your coach should be able to work out between you what a sensible weight is you can get down to without making yourself too weak. For example when i was fighting at 64kg i would walk around at 70-72kg then cut down from there.
I would like to hear peoples opinions on what is ideal health wise and performance wise.
the bulk of quick/cutting weight, weight loss, is fluids. A 3% decrease in muscle hydration results in about 10% loss of contactile strength and 8% in speed! So why wouold you want to cut big ammounts of weigh esp if weighing in on fight day? Differnt for international event where they weigh in 24hours earlier and can rehydrate but I don't know how long it takes for strength and speed to return to normal so may still be counter productive.
train 2-4 hrs every day. eat healthy(absolutly no junk at all) drink plenty of water then after 4-6weeks what ever weight you are thats your fighting weight your body should be as fit and as strong as it can be for the fight.
although it can be different for heavier weights, generaly % 5-6 just 8-12 hours before fight ..
if 60 kgs ...then 3
if 80 kgs ...then 4 kgs
if 100 kgs...then 5 kgs
