Master Boon was indeed one of the first, if not THE first,m thai master to teach in england .And his students flourished and spread the art form.I was taught by both master Boon and Abraham Phillips( who beat tony moore for a belt). I believe Master Boon taught Tim Izli's teacher (cannot recall name).
I have too many personal recollections of training at the temple, suffice to say he was a fantastic teacher and as mentioned before a gent. When he was younger he was ranked top 5 in thailand, and would often smile , and say of some instructors, how they had become masters on the plane over to england.Master Boon could of course trace his fighting heritage to thailand. He had tatooed palms, done the tradional way.TUFF!
He would tell us thai boxing was like having five friends, and would always remind us it was the art of "chicken fighting".
Good days

I went to master boons funeral/celebration.it was the first buddhist ceremony i went to and unlike the wstern funeral it is warm and upbeat as of course buddhists believe in re-incarnation, so we must be happy for him.

Master Bunriang was my trainer and the attached picture was from 1983 training at Sityodtong for 4 weeks.

We also went to Bangkok to train and on many occasions people would come up to him in the street and pay there respects

Bunriang was treated like a celebity it was not until then that I was told that he was ranked in the top ten for ten years at the Rajadamnerm and Lumpinee Stadiums and was known as “the spearâ€

Master Bunriang was a wonderful man who I knew and respected. He taught in a very traditional manner. I am pretty certain He was responsible for establishing Muay Thai in the UK although He never got the recognition He truly deserved . R..I .P. Master Bunruiang (Spear )
