Paul Slowinski already qualifies for the 2007 Oceania Grand Prix therefore he does not have to fight in the circuit. Paul will be used for Superfights on the Oceania Cards where applicable.
Exciting line up, great to see Dougie back in, and also some tough new additions. Reuben is a tough MMA fighter, it will be good to see how he does in K1. Steve Mckinnon will be awesome to watch, and it's good to see the Powerhouse, Andrew Peck back in the game after a break. Can't wait to watch these guys go at it.
wow, looks awesome alright. as richie stated its great to see doug back in the mix of things. i think he and certainly mckinnon will rustle a few feathers and be right up there in the points.
dixon you no how to get a hold of me if you need any lighter weight fights in there hehehehe!
I salute your work in the Oceania region Dixon. Bravo!
What gym is Reuben De Jong fighting out of.
Doug Viney is back! Yeeeaaahhh!!!!!
good to see the "vicious" one back after a spout of boxing and also "the powerhouse" and reuben de jong nice line up and yeah lets see the white sniper and joe white rematch haha trying to help dude.
Yeah good question what gym is Reuban fighting out of? I often wondered why he didn't get into the k1, due to his size and now here he is. He's beaten Hirawa convincingly in MMA once or twice.
Reubhting is fighting out of the Ray Sefo Fight Academy. Undercard bouts are
Prince Hamid v Spike Chamberlain
Chopper v TBC
Great card Dixon ...looks to be yet another quality show.
looks like this series is going to go off!
Impressive line up dixon some great match making.
really good line up of fights.
My dad said "if spike does what Lolo say spike will win for sure"
Choppa vs Warren Elson or The Preacher, Bruce McFie would be awesome, though they are meant to be fighting on the s1 a few days earlier.
flip, thats an awesome lineup! was just about to post up on when the next event was being held. lucky i kept reading the topics. Awesome to see dougies back. will be there for sure to see his comeback live. when are these tickets on sale. dont miss out!
Richie, I agree about a fight between Choppa and Preacher or Wazza. Choppa is still a leader in that area and those boys need to pass someone like Choppa to further their careers. If they get past him!
Prince Vs Spike would be a beauty too. I like Spike alot (I like Hamid too but Spike somehow makes you interested, he might be the next big thing).
Great to see Dougie and the Powerhouse back in the circut too. McKinnon also, does this mean that McKinnon Vs Carnage is never going to happen?
Dixon, looks like a good line up mate, great job.
Last time I saw Reuben he was around the 150kg mark and lean at it. Be very interesting to see how the big man's stand up goes against some very talented fighters
my pic is prince to beat spike as he has fought alot more quality opponents.
This is a big step up for spike.
chopper vs wazza would be good to see.
150kgs?! No way!! How tall is reuban?
Prince is the favourite for sure Rexy as you say he has fought more experienced opponents, but I think Spike will surprise everyone. He has a lot of tricks up his sleeve and his been in the sport a long time, it's a loss to the fans that they don't get to see him fight more often, as he is a very very talented fighter. I'm sure he's training the house down at Balmoral. I'm looking forward to seeing it played out. I'm picking Spike for the upset.
The Hamid v Spike fight is off but it has been confirmed that Chopper will fight Arslan in Full Thai Rules
wow thats a shame, but chopper vs arsland will be a cracker.Last time i talked to arsland he said he was retired?
what weight is that at dixon?
Why is the Hamid fight off?
Is this the first time NZ K1 is having full Thai rules?
Its going to be a good night!
Sad that the spike/hamid fight is off I really would have ilked to have seen that, but as rex said the full thai rules fight ,with choppa in it, will be a cracker. Awesome can not wait for that one. Go the chop chop.
With Spike and Hamid off, thats sad news but are either of those boys on the card against anyone else?
Choppa and Arslan again, I like that matchup.
i fought on the k1nz under full thai rules against a thai about 3 years ago bad girl
Who was that against Rex?
The Thai's name was Wanchat. The fight lasted about 40 seconds KO to Rexy.
What K-1 event was that Rex?
& Im not suggesting that you did'nt Rex, Before you start getin all Ho-Ha.
Just askin as i have been to every K-1 event in NZ but i cant remember seing that fight.
My Memory is not to good at the best of times, I probibilly judged it & can't even remember, Probibilly cos it only lasted 40sec.
cant remember what actual event it was, i think it was k1 anzac show. All i remember was the heavy drinking and the ring girls..... haha ha
It was the K-1 event when the kiwis fought the european fellas.
Yeah great night!!!
I remember that fight. It was at the ASB stadium. I think it was K1 NZ 2002, and there was also an mma fight on the card. If not, it was the anzac show 2003.
Beat me to it Tang, and you've got a better memory. Was that the NZ vs Croatia?
I think it was NZ vs Croatia. 2003?
no no no rex. at the ANZAC show it was not the ring girls at all u remember. if my memory serves me right, you had another individual on your bathroom floor as i walked in to say my farewells to you. my goodness the thought still scares me of me seeing your little white butt working away like a rabbit hehehehehehehehehehehehe!
Yea Alex
I think you might be right, the Nz vs Croatia Event.
The one Dougy got Ko'd by the head kick from the Croatian.
it was 2002 when ther was k-1, thai fight, boing and a mma bout
ah, all wrong, it was a miss match from hell anyway, damn you were an entertaining fighter to watch rex, such a shame its all ova!
yeah was a real mismatch but no one new the thais back ground at all.
stop hijacking this thread sniper! thats enough about me!ha ha chris you shouldnt have left so fast i could have tagged you in!
back to the circuit!
I must have missed that fight Rex. I think AX could do with out boys club talk and keep it to the fight game
i thought you were a bad girl? huh your weak!
Wow!!...Steve Mckinnon!!...nice work...K1 needs more exciting fighters such as him...Doug Viney, also a welcome return as is the 'Powerhouse'.
Good to see Ben Edwards back for another crack although looks like he will have his work cut out for him.
No Ronny Sefo??
Hows about a super fight with Jason 'Supercharge'Vermoa + ???
NICE , NICE work again Dixon!!!
Just wondering where we are with the final k1 8 man line up? who is in and who is out for june 24th?
Chris
the line-up is at the top of this thread.
Chris
You down here in Taupo this weekend for the Golden Gloves???
I know Lollo is & his team.
Dixon are you able to post the confirmed line-up for the 24th June? Are there any changes for the match-ups/line-up for the night? Looking good, so far !!!!
Pola Mataele has pulled out and has been replaced by Daniel Tai
Not long to go!!!!
www.bigkabosh.bigblog.com.au
How come Pola pulled out?
powerhouse, no ones listening to us. lol
Yeah man, but I thought no one listened to me anyway.LOL
BTW you driving a EVO1 or something? If so any mods
bahahaha! i thought that about myself as well. yeah dude, i drive a black evo1, full evo3 kit. basic mods really, trust pod filter, gizzmo chip, gizzmo launch controller. 3" zorst from mid to rps muffler. wallbro fuel pump and malpassi fuel reg. turbosmart boost controller and just put some adjustables in today. got turbo,w/gate and b.o.v to go on but got no money to rebuild the engine so that has to wait. you into cars to mate?
Basic but sounds pretty good like late 11s low 12 second car or so.Me I have a few V8s at the moment I am building a 11 or 10 second N/A 2000 Z28 Camaro, headers and 150 shot of nitrous have benn ordered and will be fitted when I am in NZ for the fight. Its pretty good now though with just filter and catback it was running 13.6 on bad tires and stock suspension a good start point I thought but I have done a lot since then so I should be a flat 13 or so now and hopefully after headers and a bit of weight reduction etc mid to late 12s then I wil do heads and cam for 11s or 10s N/A and if that does not do it i will get some bigger cubes to make sure I get there NA but the Nos will get me there anyway LOL.
im back...Go Powerman, you will win with your hard kicks...feel the power of the pecker
TTT... not long to go!!
www.bigkabosh.bigblog.com.au
hey Micheal will you be commentating for the event?
Will it be shown on tv 2 that night?
cheers
Hi Isaac... yes and yes to both questions.
www.bigkabosh.bigblog.com.au
Did i hear that Paul Slowinski is fighting Ignashov on the undercard or am i making it up?
It's a shame Spikes not fighting because he was looking shit hot in Thailand.
powerhouse, my cars basic as compared to what your building. i have the same aim as you in terms of times. i aiming for a high ten. the turbo ive got is capable of flowing 700hp. now i just need to build an engine that is capable of handling that. bahahaha. the car as is has run a 12.8 on 17" rims. i have a set of 15" so i maybe able to get the time down driving on those. you mentioned that you were fitting stuff when you got back to n.z. do you live abroad now? anyways i better not get off track as to what the thread is about. good luck with the cars mate and the best of luck with the fights. its awesome to see you back in the ring mate. hopefully i'll get to meet you. all the best.
Nigs
thanks dude! BTW I live in Japan.
Hi Dixon, any chance of putting up the poster for the 24th? My missus thinks I'm going to a all woman fight night!!!! Cheers
TTT
Next weekend guys and gals!
Can't wait for this one... so many questions will be answered in this first round of action.
www.bigkabosh.bigblog.com.au
Daniel Tai has pulled out due to injury and has been replaced by Hiriwa Te Rangi
Good ol hiriwa, that old dog is a warrior through and through.
Hiriwa is a warrior that's for sure... his last match against Chrisopoulidis was one for the ages... a controversial war... two of the sport's big identities will collide again in a week's time... I can't wait.
www.bigkabosh.bigblog.com.au
Cool, not long now - some wicked and interesting bouts, can't wait - see you all there! wahoo!
The images, as always will be up on this and a few other sites, aswell as on my website ofocurse www.theimagegirl.co.nz - and I expect in next issue of International Kickboxer also so check them out -
Great to see you back Dougie! awesome, go hard stay strong! that goes for everyone!

does anyone know why pola has pulled out of the tournament? also the fact he is night fighting in this round, does that mean he wont fight in any of the rounds?
It is excellent to see soon new facers. Is there going to be a under card of lighter weights?
Dixon is there a weight in/press conference that the public can attend. I know it won’t be as big as last one but with the new facers there will be some interest from true fight fans. If there is, I hope its at the sky city again as I only work across the road.
The PRESS CONFERENCE for K-1 Oceania will be held at SKY CITY at 4.30pm on Friday.
www.bigkabosh.bigblog.com.au
Yes the press conference is at Sky City at 4.30pm in the main entrance in the Atrium. This will be the first time we have had a public Press Conference.
Here is my Predictions!!!
Half the card is gonna Win & Half the card is Gonna Lose.

Awesome clips danger mouse. Jase is a natural born fighter through and through. Good luck to all the fighters, esp ETK boys Jase, Andrew, Jay and Dmitri. Just wish my missus would let me go, LOL!
Heres my predictions.
Peter Graham (Aus) v Mat Samoa (Aus)
Peter graham k.o ( mat might surprise though. he would have taken alot of confidence from the k.o win over pola last year.
Doug Viney (NZ) v Andrew Peck (NZ)
This is a hard one to call. both have been out of the k1 scene for quite some time so im gonna sit on the fence.
Jason Suttie (NZ) v Reuben De Jong (NZ)
jason by k.o. to be fair i dont know much about Reuben de jong. This prediction is purely based on the form jason showed to the end of lastyear.
Peter Sampson (NZ) v Ben Edwards (Aus)
Ben edwards on points. this fight has the potential to be fight of the night. another one to close to call.
Hiriwa Terangi (NZ) v Chris Chrisopoulides (Aus)
chris on points. slugfest. need i say more.
Jay Hepi (NZ) v Steve McKinnon (Aus)
Steve mckinnon points. both warriors.

Peter Graham pts
Doug Viney (NZ) v Andrew Peck (NZ)
Doug Viney pts
Jason Suttie (NZ) v Reuben De Jong (NZ)
Jason Suttie pts
Peter Sampson (NZ) v Ben Edwards (Aus)
Peter Sampson pts
Hiriwa Terangi (NZ) v Chris Chrisopoulides (Aus)
chris Chrisopoulides pts
Jay Hepi (NZ) v Steve McKinnon (Aus)
Steve mckinnon pts
Cheers
Stew
You took the words out of my mouth there Stu, that is my prediction also ...anyone know what time this is going to be shown on T.V?
Cheers.
Steve Mckinnon is a devistating fighter..regardless of the weight i reckon 1st rnd KO win to Mckinnon.
Suttie win by KO and Doug Viney win by KO also!!!!!
Hey Aaron 10.40 on t.v 2 i think it is mate.
I think Jay will cause an upset and stop steve with his huge bombing right hand but i cant see jay being stopped, he'z one tough customer. If steve is to win i think it will be by points but as everyone should know this is one of the hardest sports to bet on because anything can happen.
This is true ...although Jay hasnt REALLY been tested yet....Steve is just hard as nails, Jay too, but experience may win on the day.
Good luck to all the fighters!!!
hasnt jay hepi fought peter graham? if that aint a test i dont know what is.
Hi Dave, this is a toss up in the air fight if Steve meets Jason.
At heavyweight Jason has not really been tested too much but the guy has beaten big names like Hippolyte ect in the past. Names that are on the legendary record books. Steve is a good fighter, I think he is a force to see in the ring. But this is a step with him too. He has never been hit with the power of the big guys yet either (correct me if I am wrong).
My picks so far...
Peter Graham WIN- Matt Samoa
Matta has some Looping Samoan hands with alot of power but Chief is too smart. Mind you could be an upset...
Andrew Peck WIN- Doug Viney
I am going to pick Powerhouse on this one. Both Dougy and Andrew have been out for a bit so its going to be interesting. I do recall Andrew asking for fights over the past 6 to 12 months. He was hungry and wanted to go, so I am going to back his heart and hopefully he is still hungry.
Jason Suttie WIN Reuben DeJong
I am still firmly seated on the Suttie bandwagon.
Peter Sampson WIN Ben Edwards
Ben has a big heart and that was displayed through last years contests. But heart aint enough against Peter.
Big Chris Chrisopoulides WIN Hiriwa Te Rangi, T man has been around the sport for a long long time (actually so has Chris), tough call to make cos both these guys are my heros. I am gonna go with Chris due to his reign last year, impressive.
Steve McKinnon WIN Jay Hepi
Logic say's Steve, but I like Jay and I love an upset. My heart says Jay and I hope for Jay.
Sorry, I was thinking JAY= Jason. My bad.
Hey Sting...sweet as....Mckinnon v Suttie will be an awesome fight when it happens...but Jay hepi probably needs a little more serious ring time to beat Steve.
and true Nigs, Jay has fought Peter Graham but thats really the only test he has had......either way a great match!
Cheers mate, I would like to see what Steve has on offer at Heavy. Now he has another date set for carnage too dont he? What weight is he gonna walk into the k1 at, cant be too much.
Not to sure of weight..id say he wont go to heavy.
Do you know the date for the carnage match??..was still TBA last time i heard.
Can ya shed any light on this one Mr Stone??
Hi Alll -
Just posting a few pics from the press confrence today -
Chrisopoulides v te Rangi
and ofcourse Scheviello
![](http://message.axkickboxing.com/images/user_uploaded/the%20image%20girl/k1round1230606PClow016%20copy.jpg)
and this is Reuben De Jong ( 6 10" and 140kg ) who has his k1 debut and is fighting The Pyshco -
![](http://message.axkickboxing.com/images/user_uploaded/the%20image%20girl/k1round1230606PClow049%20copy.jpg)
and Jase the Psycho Suttie ( 5 10" and 100kg )
and the fightiing crew - well at least some of them, the rest seemignly are stuck at airports and still on their way to Auckland -
There are heaps of other good images that will be on my website www.theiimagegirl.co.nz tomnorrow am - so check them out, have a look -
See you all tomorrow -wahoo! Let's Go!
Image Girl
oh alright then one more - choppa!
i am not sure how accurate that statement is that ruben is 6 foot 10 based on the look in that group photo. hr looks only just taller than Hiriwa in that pic. maybe it is just how the photo is angled though im not sure.
good luck 2moro boys and particularly steve mac and chief. he is fighting carnage on aug 19 in sydney. weight will likely be 92kg but there is a chance it maybe for a world title which makes weight 95 and under.
does anyone know full fight card for tonight? reserve fights?
I have got to get a Voice "Big Kabosh" beanie
6 10" is what the press pack info says so...- and jase is actually 5 11" not 10 ( typo my bad! )

3 or so hours to go till Kings of Oceania screens on NZ channel 2.
Will try and keep ya all posted with results as they come to hand....Hope you got a nice fresh batch of quick witted comentary lined up for us Mr Angove and Mr Schiavello...and you cant use the Paris Hilton line again...you just cant...ha ha ...BRING IT ON
DAMN IT!!!!...1 passed out 2nd rnd Suttie fight..arrh...who won??
this is what i saw
Chopper win PTS
Viney win PTS
Mckinnon win TKO 2nd rnd ( Hepi corner stopped after rnd 2)
Sampson win PTS
Chrisopolidis win PTS
Graham win KO rnd 1 - three knock down rule
Suttie??.....
After a first rnd slog Mckinnon found his rythmn and chopped up Hepi with his trade mark leg kicks.
Graham / Samoa was ...in my mind ..a bit of a miss match...Samoa just not fit enough and the Chief was just going insane..Cheif also anounced hes moving to Japan to train with Nicolas Petas (is that the right spelling)
wicked show!!!!
Hi Dave, Jason won on points. It was a great night mate.
I will say that Ruben impressed me for a guy with little experiance. I also think that K1 needs to make a giant division for him, Choi, Norte, and Shilt.
And i just have to say..in my mind ..Steve Mckinnon by far looked the best last night...im suprised that he didnt enter K1 a year or 2 ago!!!...devistating kicking ability
hahaha I vote Dave for McKinnon's Kiwi Rep
He did good mate but I think that Jay has uncovered how to beat him. I think that the next bloke to step in with Steve needs to be fit and keep the pressure going on him. He didnt look too comfortable in a defensive position during that first round. But yes, those leg kicks were hurting me just watching.
Ha ha...yeah ..been a fan of Nick Stones crew for years.Stuart Mckinnon is making a come back also i hear
And your absolutely right Sting...the next one BETTER be fit cause he was just gettin warmed up....i think its Crisopoulidis next then Hirewa Te rangi.
Crisopoulidis will be tough but he should make short work of the T man!!

Could someone explain why Dougie's win was called a majority decision and not a unanimous decision? The fight I saw had Doug winning every round with the 10-8 in the first. Did one of the judges have a draw or win to Peck?
A wins a win, but I was just wondering.
Hi All -
Couple of pics for you from last night - Great Night! some exellent bouts -
Jase and the 6 10' Reuben De Jong -
and a very amped Peter striding to his win over Matt Samoa -
Great to see Dougie back in action - wahoo!
Ben was banged by Peter Sampson -
ETK's Dimitri had an awesome night - winning a rematch against Terry Jack who didn't seem himself on the night at all? - Well done Dim!
The Rest of the pic's will be on my site toomorrow AM - there are some great shots - so be sure to cheeck them out!

ben was awesome his fight was def the best to watch
he has a huge heart.
hi all, thanks dixon again, wat i thought is, cold and the fighters too. Heaters in the changing room trainers, Jay will be out now having fought 3 k1 rounds with a broken arm, bummer, end of round 1 a kick took it out, just too early back, he wanted me to say wasn't tired just obviously thinking about something else, round 1 with Steve was action packed so good to see new faces on the circuit, Steve is so tidy and Reuben did very well too, undercard fights nice, dimitri vs Jack and joel vs Harley were very evenly contested, they the best ones, can only really comment on etk fights, still to see them all, welcome back doug and pecker, he will need to return earlier from Japan next time and jase, well did wat he had to, good experience against very big fella, remember Sapp vs ernesto first time, hard also when you are expected to win, motivation and wanting to impress are factors which affect performance, we all know goin for the ko curse. Roger out
It was a bummer of a trip for Ben & John his Trainer, All started of wrong when there flights were delayed from Canbbera becouse of bad weather, They did'nt make the press conferance and got to Auckland at all hours of the night to find out there bags went on the wrong flight & did'nt turn-up at all so all they had for the whole weekend was the cloths they were wearing & had to borrow all the gear to fight in, Shorts, Mouthgaurd, groingaurd etc, etc, Even when they got on the flights on sunday to go home there bags still had'nt turned up.
So big ups to Ben & John for keepin it together.
Ben Edwards has the biggest Heart in the Oceania Circuit.

A wins a win, but I was just wondering.
I was thinking the same thing. majority decision? someone must have been watching a different fight. I had a very good view on my mates BIG projector :D and there is no way Peck won any of those rounds.
A majority decision is when one of the judges draws the fight and and a split is when one judge gives one person the win and the other two judges give it to the other fighter but yeah it should have been a def unan decision to Dougy. Great night of fights. Steve definitly impressed that night but a big fight for him next up.
Why didn't Arslan want full thai rules? They are both 5 round fighters and it woulda been better to see them go at it full thai styles.
P.S....Rog were you still drunk when you made that post cause the first half of that post didn't make much sense? ;) Lol.
![](http://message.axkickboxing.com/images/user_uploaded/Boa%20Rogue/roger%20and%20clyde%20etk.jpg)
To jason and the ETK crew....
Perfectly executed plan, and the approach was pretty much text book when i interviewed you guys 2 weeks before. Awesome prep and with that kind of form you cant go wrong.
Big ups to Reuben who lasted the 3 rounds against the Psycho. However clinical masterclass Jason.
Watchout for that exclusive review of ETK on ROGUE Magazine coming out very very shortly.
Cheers and Thanks.
Jay Hepi was unlucky. He had that fight in the bag. Clearly won the 1st round by executing the right plan. Shame his arm got broken again. Welcome to the heavyweights Mr Mckinnon.
Sorry Focus,..i have to strongly disagree.
Mckinnon defended Jays bomb no problem and counterd every time,Jay ran out of gas after the first round and Steves vast MT experience kicked in..he was always going to win it was just a matter of when (broken arm or no broken arm , you need to be really fit to beat him)...welcome to MT Jay Hepi
Dave by MT dont you mean kickboxing not Muay Thai?
Well both really...welcome to MT meaning welcome to the stamina and power MT style, as apposed to a kickboxing slug fest...does that make sense??
I know Jay trains with the ETK crew but does he train KB or MT??..or both ??
I think k1 needs some lighter competitors..95kg mark..Mckinnon is perfect in this position.
The likes of Jay, Matt Samoa ,Rony Sefo, and Andrew Peck just run out of gas far to early,...they are all great fighters but dont have nearly enough stamina to even last 3 rounds??!!
Maybe ALOT more enphisis need to be put on the endurance and stamina side of their training..hey they can all pack a punch and killer kicks but if you run out of juice 1st-2nd round you are history against say a MT fighter used to more and longer rounds
any thoughts anyone??
absolutely no offence intended to the above named..big fan of all!!
Oh oh oh Dave, I will haha
Mate McKinnon defended well against Jay in that first round. He used his head.... He used his head to hit Jay's gloves.
I just want in on the argument.
I think when you get some lighters guys fighting
in K1(around 95kgs)that when they fight the heavier
and more experienced guys that the extra wieght
can make it difference.
As for Thai Boxers,it's rare to see heavywieghts
fight 5 x 3mins full thai rules as the stamina, pace
and workrate for the heavier guys is hard to keep up.
I see where your coming from Dave but i couldn't see
2 heavywieghts(100kgs+)fighting 5x3mins rounds FTR
and coming home hard in the last round.
Just my thoughts.
Regards
Danny
yeah nice one Sting..ha ha...your in...
Hey ...he did cop a battering..true.. but still remained standing and worked his way out of those situations no problem.
What do you think bro...lighter stronger fighters (not K1 max light) or giant sluggers should be the future of k1?...or should there truely be a giant division as said in an earlier thread?
Maybe Nathan Corbet should have a crack?.....
Hey Danny,
My problem is they arnt even coming home hard in the 3rd and last round either.
Agreed ..the weight can and should make the difference but with limited stamina it just wont.
Hey Danny,
My problem is they arnt even coming home hard in the 3rd and last round either.
Agreed ..the weight can and should make the difference but with limited stamina it just wont.
i think rog is right, I was sitting in the stands with the many other spectators watching and flip it was pretty cold, It was only the fights that was making me take my mind away from the cold, that made me warm, is that said right. Anyway, if was cold out in the stands, the fighters mustve been freezing out the back and then to come out and fight a hard fight for us fans is totally amazing. this fight night was much slower than normal, I think because of the cold, but once the fighters warmed up in the ring all fought great fights to the end. so to have the venue warm would be nice for us and the fighters.
Dave, I agree totally with adding more and more lighter heavyweights. I like the excitement of the light heavy and cruiser divisions so I like the thought of some lighter guys in K1. Power and speed. K1 needs a Roy Jones Jnr.
Seriously, many of today's top fighters are great but I liked the old (lighter) versions of them were better, much better. LtHeavy- Cruiser Ray Sefo was immence. Jason Suttie at the mid range weights beat some of the best in the world. Slowinski was better lighter, so was Daniel Tai.
I just hope that McKinnon keeps his bodyweight safe and not slow. Hey, if a 80kg Kaoklai can hold his own then maybe the lighter weights are not a bad idea. There are too many K1 heavys that are carrying too much weight. Wether its choice, diet or under preped, I dont know but I would love to see some fighters drop a few Kgs and see how they do.
gee, and that was supposed to be the premier event on the nz fight seen,mr mckinnon is gona upset a few names this year i reckon,if he can weather early rounds like he showed he could,he's gonna demo guys when they start to tire! i hope the standard rises for the next round,
Absolutely agree Sting and Tortelli,
Thats what im saying....Suttie and sefo at lighter weights were vitually unstopable...Andrew Peck when he won NZ K1 must have been at least 15 kg lighter than he was the other night
Sampson exposed the same weekness on Ben Edwards...aswell as choppin his legs to bits.
Steve Mckinnon v Jason Suttie...thats what im talkin about...lets have it!!
Oh yeah, now you have opened up a can of thought,
I like the concept of McKinnon in K1 but I have my BUT's.... regardless, I want to see Steve and Carnage go at it first. To me Carnage is still the man at that weight until beaten. I would love to see Carnage join McKinnon if he can gain the pounds.
Peter Sampsom did take Ben apart but look at he bad luck Ben had before the fight, that had to screw with his prep. It could have taken one good swing from Ben to send the fight into another result. Mark Hunt was not a big kicker and sent some great kickers packing with his hands.
Hey, respect to Peter Graham for lending out his shorts too. It has been a common thing with Schilt doing it for Aerts too. Maybe Akebono can lend his to Sato for the Max.
Valid point on the "HAMMER" Mark Hunt.
Marks an exceptional fighter and his unorthodoxity was very hard to counter. Somewhat like Rich Franklin the UFC. Plus Mark is a phenom with his hands and that chin of his.... granite.
As the sport of K-1 evolves we will see more fighters evolve better techniques and counters. This is where speed and fitness will start to play a huge part. If those two factoids can be combined with lots of power, we can pretty much get the complete fighter. From time to time we will see bigger-slower fighters being outclassed by smaller men and even KO'd. Remember KK Vs Mighty Moe. Although these will be far and few between.
Guys like Steve McInnon will do well provided they use the K-1 rules to their advantage and keep working on their power. Its a fine line between getting big and strong while reataining pace and also staying clean(Steroids). Whats great about "smooth" is that he has very good technique. In time to come we will see big things from this guy. No doubt!! (His experience at Lumpini stadium will help immensly)
Very nice gesture from the Chief, and reflects the true gentleman in him. Better luck next time for ben and his baggage. Hopefully we see Rolling thunder at some point soon....
Cheers and thanks

Hey Rex,
You got any info/ stats on your fighter who is replacing Jay Hepi?
he is 5 10' ,105kg,samoan, played proffessional league in oz a few years back,he is 29 years old, had 3 wins and 1 loss and 1 no decision.
All of his fights bar one has been taken on less than 3 days notice.
He has his first few fights under a martial arts gym and has moved to my gym (and started winning straight away).
His style is kinda alot the same as mike tysons.short sharp hard puncher and very fit as he knows how to train.
Hi Rex
We wish you all well, and keen to see and get a preview on this guy, who sounds like he's got the goods.
Cheers

Too cool, I am really looking foward to your magazine Boa.
Good luck with the first issue release mate, it sounds like it is gonna be a hit.
Jay's arm was broken at the end of 1st round Dave. I think you were mistaking severe pain for fatigue. This is the reason he stopped goin forward and allowed Steve to get some offense goin in the 2nd round. Steve did well.
Hello all
Thanks Sting, yeah the mags gonna be great. ROGUE will have all the inside stuff.
Real shame about Jays arm, i can confirm that it was broken chatting with him after the event, initially many thought it was a shoulder dislocation. Good on the big fella', he showed no evident signs of an otherwise very painful injury. Hopefully Jay recovers soon enough and gets back in the ring.
Good show by Steve and he started to find those kicks on target in the 2nd round. Talking to him after the fight, he was a bit unhappy with his timing, but thats a good win over a very good opponent. Would be great to see a rematch. Yeah its very hard going forward, let alone continue. So congrats to both these fighters.
Well done Jay and well done Steve. (Appologies for any double posts, strangetechnical error)
Cheers and thanks

Jay Hepi's progress with injury....
Jays arm is looking to come good, and already in a new cast.
Great sign, the big fella' is upbeat as always and talking to him you wouldn't know he had a broken arm.
Jays been keeping his cardio all tanked up and looking to be sharp with his fitness. He seems to have sustained it end of the first and bet it was very painful. He tried to hang in there and see the fight through and pile some points. Lets face it a broken arm is a broken arm. Bigups and absolute respect to this warrior who tried his best. How he carried on in the second , we may never know. Only few people can fight through such intense pain. Furthermore he was up against a classy fighter with a superb record. I suppose a reason why Jay took some stick, taking nothing away from Steve McKInnon and he's great showing, was his hand dropped from the injury.
Its a shame not to see him back for the rest of the rounds, but hopefully he'll be back better than ever. ROGUE Magazine wish him well and a speedy recovery.
Six weeks aint long!!!
Cheers and Thanks

Good luck Jay, he's a battler and a nice bloke.
Looking forward to reading ROGUE too Boa.

Hello Evereyone
Doug "Vicious" Viney is looking in great shape and about to embark on his prep for K-1 OCNA Round 2 clash with Matt Samoa. ROGUE Caught up with him for an exclusive Interview @ City KickBoxing in Auckland CBD. Some interesting excerts....
Q. So Doug how is your prep for round 2 going?
A. Havent really started yet, just been doing the fitness. Going good so far, Injury free, and the real prep starts later this week. But yeah, all good-thanks.
Q. Do you feel like your back to your best?
A. There is always room for improvement, i was really tired cos i only trained 8 weeks for that fight. Now i've got another 8 weeks and im going to be a lot fitter for this one. I'll be ready, oh yeah.
Q. Are we going to see anything different, any other techniques from "Vicious"?
A. Nah, thats a secret (chuckle) gonna have to wait and find out in 8 weeks.
Q. Are we going to have Groin Guard trouble again?
A. Nah , nah we've got a new one (chuckle...chuckle)
Q. Can you talk us through what happened pls?
A. Our gym Balmoral Lee Gar has only one groin guard and its shared amongst all the guys!! thats an old groin guard, and cos its taken its time and toll, with not much string left. Lolo (Helimuli- Dougs Trainer) tried to put some tape around it and keep it on, it's ok on a middle weight guy, but on a super heavy guy whos much bigger, not much string left. It's embarrassing but things like that happen.(Mild chuckle)
Q. Are we going to see a VICIOUS KO?
A. You never know, you never know. Just gonna have to see how it goes.
Q. Any message for your fans out there?
A. Thanks for the support guys, hopefully enjoyed the fight and stay tuned for the next one. Cheers and you guys rock!!!!
More to come so pls stay tuned.
Doug seems to be on top of his game from the bit i saw. With the major part of his prep yet to come, he will only get fitter and better. I agree with the "Big-Kabosh",this guy could really upset the best of laid plans by the others. His hand speed is impressive as always and his leg speed is right upthere. Let not his movie star looks and personality decive you, Doug' will be the dark horse in the OCNA. Looks like he has a new "secret weapon" in his bag of tricks. It could be a surprise !!!
Cheers and Thanks
BOA @ ROGUE Magazine .... Coming to a stand nesr you on AUGUST 14th!!!

City KickBoxing is a fantastic gym and very slick. ROGUE will be having a review on our 2nd ISSUE. (Pic of Doug Karen and Duan, the trainers)
We wish them well. Good luck to Doug!!! (see you soon Rex....)

ROGUE Magazine in yet another exclusive caught up with the Hardman of K-1, Jay Hepi. The Hardman recovering from a broken Arm he suffered in the bout with K-1 Kings of OCNA Opponent Steve McKinnon wasn’t short of a smile. Even though he is in a cast.
Q. So Jay, hows the rehab going?
A. Its going great thanks, working on my cardio with a lot of running and I’m feeling good- can’t wait to get back in the ring and amongst it.
Q. Can you tell us how the injury happened?
A. It was a kick Steve got me with late in the first round. He got me well, actually I tried to work a punch and it was a bit of good timing for him and bad for me. I tried to hang in there for round 2 and possibly the 3rd, but it was near impossible. Things happen. I was disappointed, since I got the first round in my favour.
Q. So what you been doing to keep on track?
A. Lots of weekend sand dune work and we have a new trainer at ETK who’s doing some different techniques. Also I try to spar (big chuckle) but I shouldn’t be. The cast stays another six weeks and it’s all go then. Looking forward to it.
Q. When will we see you back in the ring, being realistic?
A. Mate, most probably a show in December, Jason is planning. Yeah I think that’s about right. I should be fitter and sharper, really want to get back in the ring.
Q. Any opponent lined up?
A. Nah, not yet. Don’t know who it’ll be. Although I wouldn’t mind a rematch… (Chuckle)
Q. You mean with Steve?
A. Yeah, for sure mate. He’s a great fighter and I would love to have another crack and even things up. For sure…. It would be a great fight.
Q. In Australia?
A. Anywhere anyplace mate (The Hardman had the look in his eye….)
Q. Will we see anything different with the Hardman when he’s back?
A. Just same will power and commitment, if not more. This injury is a minor setback and it’s the second time a break has happened. First it was with Ben (Edwards), trying a spinning back fist. This time its healed much faster and the scans show it. So you would probably see a hungrier Jay Hepi. Yeah, that’s what will be different.
Q. Any last thoughts?
A. Thanks to all the support from Jason and the crew and my whanau. It’s been great and I can’t wait to be back and put on a show for my fans, who I must thank so much.
ROGUE Magazine will feature The Hardman’ exclusive interview and never before heard details and inside scoops to the K-1 Circuit, its pretty edgy!!!
ROGUE Magazine coming to a stand near you in AUGUST!!!

ROGUE Magazine ventured to see what The "PSYCHO" Jason Suttie was upto and how his prep for round 2 of K-1 OCNA was going. We learnt of some interesting stuff....
Q: So Jason Whats the latest with your training?
A: All is going well mate, got a few new things going on and its looking great.
Q: So Whats sort of new things?
A: Got a guy called spider come up from CHCH and trying this new program, it’s quite painful at first but its doing the trick. I am really hoping to be super fit and ready for round 2.
Q: Whats gong to be different with the Psycho, when he meets Ben Edwards?
A: I am going to be faster and stronger, be putting pressure from the word go from the beginning to the end.
Q: Back like the old days in the super middle weights?
A: (Light chuckle...) yeah hopefully, with the power to go.
Q: With the other pools, do you tend to pay much attention on the other pools with the other fighters?
A: Yeah obviously I do want to see who comes through, but on the night when you are in fight mode it’s on who's at hand. Yeah...
Q: 3 Point KO this time?
A: See how we go on the night mate, KO is a bonus if it comes. See how we go on the night.
Q: Anything else ROGUE and the fight loving public should know about... MMA stuff maybe?
A: Hmmmm, Just my new program see how that works, should be good. Spiders great. MMA....well big Billy (Scanlan) should have a blockbuster end of August. That should be great......
ROGUE: Hmmmmmm....interesting. Wonder what that’s all about? Also next time ROGUE ventures out, will try and get the run down on spider and some of these “painful" regimes. Sounds a lot like what they do in Thailand.
So stay tuned to ROGUE Special posts and the first issue coming to a stand near you in AUGUST!!! (August the month to look forward to)
Cheers and Thanks.
