theres some real big sponsors putting some cash into that show so no doubt it will be huge.

my picks are sakadpetch or nopparat.

id like sanchai but if the fighters are comin in at 132 3x in one night may be too much for him. against bigger guys
Rob

can't pick one to be honest, as in tournament anything can happen and all capable of causing an upset in that line-up

Don't know anything about the fighters, No Doubts this is full Thai rules so it will be very good.

depending on cuts if saenchai doesnt draw nopparat early and get the granny kneed out of him i think he could take it, if not ill go with nopparat.

liam badco
Posted: 2006-09-11 07:25:50
anuwat is 126
Rob
Posted: 2006-09-11 10:48:43
yep Anuwat would be too small for these guys. He is a small 126 fighter really and could make 123 o.k. He's fought 4 of them already and only lost to one, but they are all a fair bit bigger than him now
Rob
Posted: 2006-09-11 10:53:22
Saenchai easily the best in it, but also by far the smallest and may struggle after 2 fights where hes had to throw around a couple of strong clinchers.

only 1 month to go now. There has been a couple of fights recently with some of the contenders, Saenchai hammered Duangsomphong recently, Sakadpetch beat Singdam last week and tonight at Lumpini Attachai smashed Nopparat, knocking him out in the 4th after hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink.

Rob

wasn a press tournament for this tournament today.
Its the gaiyang 5 dao tournament or 5 star fried chicken
The tournament is at 132 pounds with fighters weighing in day before so I think Saenchai at a big disadvantage.
They want to make the fights as exciting as possible with a big bonus for the most exciting fight and a threat of not being allowed to fight for 3 months if any underperform. The fights 3 rounds and they are to be judged right from the off so the fighters need to go to workstraight away to win.

Orono not from Majestic Gym?
Rob
Posted: 2006-10-20 06:49:44
I can confirm that most of the time I dont have a clue what im talking about lol

Saenchai is the lightest of the lot he fought the other month at 122 which none of the others would make without removing a body part, the others all fight at around roughly the same weight, Sakadpetch a little higher usually and Kongpipop also bigger now.

Orono has switched gyms and management now so has dropped the Majestic gym for Wor Petchpun

Will this be televised on Thai TV, or broadcasted online? Just for the sake for us unfortunate gits that can't make it to Thailand at that time of year?

I saw Saenchai fight Singdam last December and Saencahi dealt with him fairly comfortably. What weight was that at Rob?
Rob
Posted: 2006-10-20 13:12:10
I think it was probably 127 pounds for Saenchai and 130 for Singdam.
This whole tournament is being broadcast live on Thai t.v channel 7 from 1430 until 1730 Thai time and also has Pongsaklek Gratingdaeng gym making a defence of his WBC flyweight title.

Probably due to his recent win over Nopparat Kiatgamthon. Heard it was quite convincing.

What is Sanchais natural weight (kgs)? And what weight does he fight at (kgs, or how much weight does he usually give away?
liam badco

i think hes about 62kg and usually has to be about 57.5. whilst his opponents will be around 58.5 59.......last time i saw him live though he made 55.8 and took Nong O to school easily.

Exciting tournament this afternoon. Kongpipop Ko'd Nopparat in the 2nd round with knees - knocked him out of the ring. Nopparat looked exhausted. Seanchai lost to Nopparat in the first round - didnt seem to be that clear cut a decision to me - and then against Orono - Nopparat took a bit of a hammering in the 3rd so was up against in when he met Kongpipop who had slightly longer to rest. Attachai looked good early on, but was stopped by Kongpipop in the semi final. I had Attachai to win it going into the semi but the tournament format took its toll.

I'm sure Rob with give a more accurate account and have some pics, saw him snapping away on the ring apron.
Rob
Posted: 2006-11-17 12:57:41
some great action. Saenchai was just too small and Nopparat didnt give him any time at all to work. The 3 rd tournament format went against him too as he got going too late. Attachai lloked to be good for the win in the semi against Kongpipop, but two big knees in the right spot turned it around.
Fair dues to Kongpipop he pulled out what was needed to win at the right time. He finished Norpparat with knees again and Nopparat's head also looked to bang on the floor outside the ring when they both fell through the ropes.

Hi guys-

First time posting on this forum. Thanks for providing so much good information.

"Colin.H writes: How alien was the format(tournerment all on one day) too them, or did you think they were well prepared for the 3 rd style fight?"

I was training at Ingram prior to the tournament. I spent my time in awe of Sagatpetch's training regiment, although he seemed to gas out... I don't know what to think. This is what his training looked liked though:

* 50 min. run
* Straight into 4 rounds of sparring (light)
* 12 rounds of Thai pads (4 min. rounds) for interval training he does 2 rounds at a time with a 1 min. break between rounds
* 2 rounds of focus mitts
* 30 min. of Neck Grappling
* 4 more rounds of focus mitts.

I blogged about it. (http://www.mymuaythai.com/archives/calling-in-reinforcements/)
