(curtosy of Mr Pong - chokemuay.com)
theres some real big sponsors putting some cash into that show so no doubt it will be huge.
my picks are sakadpetch or nopparat.
id like sanchai but if the fighters are comin in at 132 3x in one night may be too much for him. against bigger guys
can't pick one to be honest, as in tournament anything can happen and all capable of causing an upset in that line-up
Don't know anything about the fighters, No Doubts this is full Thai rules so it will be very good.
Hopefully I will be in Bangers that week and watch it
its near enough the top 8 best thai boxers in the world
sanchai or nopparat win
Off the hook!! Are the elimination rounds also full rules, or modified until the final?
I would think it will be fll rules from the off
depending on cuts if saenchai doesnt draw nopparat early and get the granny kneed out of him i think he could take it, if not ill go with nopparat.
I`ll go with Sakadpetch because I won his shorts in the raffle.
LOL, wonder why i went with nopparat?
Good thinking Phil
Nopparat don't like a puncher, hes already been stopped by Kongpipop so wont fancy meeting him early on
whhhooooooooooooooooooooooooooo im gona be in thailand then. orono majesctic to win!!!!!!!
Man what a line up. Why no Anuwat? Isn't he around that weight?
yep Anuwat would be too small for these guys. He is a small 126 fighter really and could make 123 o.k. He's fought 4 of them already and only lost to one, but they are all a fair bit bigger than him now
Saenchai easily the best in it, but also by far the smallest and may struggle after 2 fights where hes had to throw around a couple of strong clinchers.
Awesome line up, Attachai or Sakadpetch to win.
Of course if BOVY happened to be in this weight class and was fighting then Id go for him as I also have a pair of his signed shorts, and I do wear them lots and lots no matter how much I need to squeeze into them, and show them off to all visitors all of whom have never heard of him!
3 words phil

:)
i hope your joking about bovy winning it phil he seriously needs to retire before he ends up with serious damage.....heard his vision is already goin.
Mate, I wouldnt care if his head had dropped off, I`ve got a pair of his shorts so I would have to support him! No other reason!
yep Bovy looks very shopworn now, his last fight he looked a shadow of the fighter he used to be
ok thought you actually meant he would win sorry.
thats what andy will be like at 30 lol he loves the war
now theres a very diplomatic term....."shopworn" :)
true but andys had about 27fights bovy has had about 127 all doing the same thing his brain must be seriously scrambled, cos andy is thick as shit now and gettin thicker everyfight.
lmao@Liam, you need to come back on that one Andy.
hes in benidorm for a week so hes gonna come back even thicker now aswell and prob with syphallis too.
wow I'd like to see this...
Is there any way on line??
hes got herpes all over his face even BEFORE he went...but wouldnt say anything about that!
lol
HONEST....he wouldnt say owt.....
he knows I'd probably tell you! ha ha ha
only 1 month to go now. There has been a couple of fights recently with some of the contenders, Saenchai hammered Duangsomphong recently, Sakadpetch beat Singdam last week and tonight at Lumpini Attachai smashed Nopparat, knocking him out in the 4th after hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink.
Wow this is going to be insane. I'm rootin for Attachai on this one!
wasn a press tournament for this tournament today.
Its the gaiyang 5 dao tournament or 5 star fried chicken
The tournament is at 132 pounds with fighters weighing in day before so I think Saenchai at a big disadvantage.
They want to make the fights as exciting as possible with a big bonus for the most exciting fight and a threat of not being allowed to fight for 3 months if any underperform. The fights 3 rounds and they are to be judged right from the off so the fighters need to go to workstraight away to win.
press conference even! lol
rob says "Attachai smashed Nopparat, knocking him out in the 4th after hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink."
LOL
Could somebody please name the boxers from left to right so we know who we are talking about
Thanks Rich
There looks a big difference in size between some of these boxers....
L-R Singdam Kiatmuu 9,Duangsompong Kor Sapaothong, Sakadpetch Ingram gym, Saenchai Sor Kingstar, Attachai Fairtex, Kongpipop Petchyindee, Nopparat Kiatgamthon, Orono Wor Petchpun
Thanks Rob...........(can somebody just confirm that this Rob bloke knows what he is talking about)
;)
Do they come from different weights normaly Rob?
Excuse my ignorance.
Orono not from Majestic Gym?
I can confirm that most of the time I dont have a clue what im talking about lol
Saenchai is the lightest of the lot he fought the other month at 122 which none of the others would make without removing a body part, the others all fight at around roughly the same weight, Sakadpetch a little higher usually and Kongpipop also bigger now.
Orono has switched gyms and management now so has dropped the Majestic gym for Wor Petchpun
orono, singdam and nopparat are massive.
So will Saenchai be able to handle this...........He is I hear the best pound for pound fighter but this is a little out of his weight clas against top quality bigger champions.
thats what makes the prospect sooooo exciting!!!!!!
Will this be televised on Thai TV, or broadcasted online? Just for the sake for us unfortunate gits that can't make it to Thailand at that time of year?
I saw Saenchai fight Singdam last December and Saencahi dealt with him fairly comfortably. What weight was that at Rob?
I think it was probably 127 pounds for Saenchai and 130 for Singdam.
This whole tournament is being broadcast live on Thai t.v channel 7 from 1430 until 1730 Thai time and also has Pongsaklek Gratingdaeng gym making a defence of his WBC flyweight title.
redbull got their own gym? i thought it was just a football team in poland they had!
its purely a sponsor name and there are fighters from different gyms use it, Pongsaklek is from Petchyindee.
Going on his recent performance i think Attachai could shake things up abit and take this out. Will there be a DVD of this event? Definitly want to get one.
attachai is turning in to a late favourite on the poll on kaewsamrit.com forum!
Probably due to his recent win over Nopparat Kiatgamthon. Heard it was quite convincing.
What is Sanchais natural weight (kgs)? And what weight does he fight at (kgs, or how much weight does he usually give away?
i think hes about 62kg and usually has to be about 57.5. whilst his opponents will be around 58.5 59.......last time i saw him live though he made 55.8 and took Nong O to school easily.
starts at 14:30 BKK time tomorrow...so thats about 07:30am UK time (I think)
is it 6 or 7hrs with daylight saving?
Saenchai and Attachai are matched to fight on 8th Dec at Lumpinee as well...
il see you there for that one then noi, im mates with atachais little brother suanchai, he did my corner for me in chiang mai. hes the 48kg northern champ and fookin good can throw guys twice his weight in the clinch
Exciting tournament this afternoon. Kongpipop Ko'd Nopparat in the 2nd round with knees - knocked him out of the ring. Nopparat looked exhausted. Seanchai lost to Nopparat in the first round - didnt seem to be that clear cut a decision to me - and then against Orono - Nopparat took a bit of a hammering in the 3rd so was up against in when he met Kongpipop who had slightly longer to rest. Attachai looked good early on, but was stopped by Kongpipop in the semi final. I had Attachai to win it going into the semi but the tournament format took its toll.
I'm sure Rob with give a more accurate account and have some pics, saw him snapping away on the ring apron.
some great action. Saenchai was just too small and Nopparat didnt give him any time at all to work. The 3 rd tournament format went against him too as he got going too late. Attachai lloked to be good for the win in the semi against Kongpipop, but two big knees in the right spot turned it around.
Fair dues to Kongpipop he pulled out what was needed to win at the right time. He finished Norpparat with knees again and Nopparat's head also looked to bang on the floor outside the ring when they both fell through the ropes.
So it was kongpipop who took the whole thing?
CORRECTAMUNDO!
Cannie wait to see the video/dvd.... :)
Rob.
How alien was the format(tournerment all on one day) too them, or did you think they were well prepared for the 3 rd style fight?
Attachai getting ready for battle
Sakadpetch get warmed up in the vegas style facilitys :)
Saenchai the first to enter the ring

For those who havent seen it yet, great high paced fights from the off, agree with rob not sure that kongpipo should have got through the first round but he sure as hell proved he deserved to be there with his semi and fianl performances. Thanks to thetornado, k-1fans for the upload

1st semi
Kongpipop vs Attachai
1st minute or so and it looked like an international boxing match with both just firing in power punches. Attachai looked like he was gettibng on top, befor Kongpipop fired in 2 hard knees that took the fight out of Attachai. Kongpipop followed up with more hard knees and puchkicks before dropping Attachai for the count in rd 2

2nd semi
Nopparat vs Orono
probably the worst of all the fights, a little too much clinching, with Nopparat too strong for Orono in first 2 rounds, Orono came back with some strong pucnhes and elbows and knees in final round but Nopparat took the win on points
The final
Kongpipop vs Nopparat
Nopparat stated trying to take the fight into the clinch and using his knees. Kongpipop looked to try and open up with hard punches and lowkicks, having koed Nopparat before at Lumpini this way. In round 2 Kongpipop landed with 2 hard knees again and both fighters fell back through the ropes. Nopparat seemed to also bang his head on the floor and couldnt get up and was counted out on the ring apron

lots of fun to watch
Thank to the guys for puttin it on youtube !!
Do you know what the odds were on Konpipop winning the tourney? I'd say a few people would have lost a bit of money on Sanchai and Attachai. I know i would have.
youtube rocks!
just watched the fights....they were ace!
hectic pace in all of them!
Hi guys-
First time posting on this forum. Thanks for providing so much good information.
"Colin.H writes: How alien was the format(tournerment all on one day) too them, or did you think they were well prepared for the 3 rd style fight?"
I was training at Ingram prior to the tournament. I spent my time in awe of Sagatpetch's training regiment, although he seemed to gas out... I don't know what to think. This is what his training looked liked though:
* 50 min. run
* Straight into 4 rounds of sparring (light)
* 12 rounds of Thai pads (4 min. rounds) for interval training he does 2 rounds at a time with a 1 min. break between rounds
* 2 rounds of focus mitts
* 30 min. of Neck Grappling
* 4 more rounds of focus mitts.
I blogged about it. (http://www.mymuaythai.com/archives/calling-in-reinforcements/)
thats seems like a standard training regeme for a top guy in BKK...how did it differ from his normal routine?
rob cox has just put a report up on:
http://www.muaythai2000.com/muaythai2000/specialreport.php
(tramp on a pork pie springs to mind!) :)
or should I say tramp all over 5-star chicken!
Ive spoke with a few fighters before and none of them really changed from a normal routine for a straight 5 round fight
some were very fast paced from the 1st bell, and it all fits on 1 dvd sweet
yep spoke with Orono tonight and he said the combination of the heat, the fast pace from the off and a very short gap for him made it very difficult, that and the size of Nopparat
Some great fights for sure!!!
Great action packs pictures Rob!
how long were the rounds? in the nopparat v saenchai they time at about 2 1/2 mins
the first round seems to have been shorter than the other two in all the fights. I thought it was the recording but thinking about it they probably just made the 1st round shorter to get the action going quicker, im not complaining, it made for some wicked fights
all the first rounds seemed between 2:15 and 2:20 secs? also the rest was like 1:45 ???? minute and a half rest at end of 2nd round and last round 2:15 the times are all over the place
timekeeper must have been pissed
somrak looked quite cool considering it was probably 40degrees and he had a full suit on the mug
Only you would think it "O.K" to call him a mug!
I am sure he had a scarf on too! LOL :)
yes scarf, it must be winter. rdboule hes ok with the hands but once you throw in the odd leg kick he might struggle to get them shots off ROFL
the scarf he had on was the shawl thing that sanchai wears before fights and into the rings maybe it was fr good luck or something
i cant explain the blazer though lol
