Bruising

I bruise ridiculously easily, like a peach - and advice on whether this is something I can do something about, or is it just something you have to live with? I use arnica cream to help with healing, but might excessive bruising be something I can prevent?

Have your iron levels checked out. Low iron = easy bruising.

Health is a huge base for healing of course, for all body function but some people simply bruise more easily. However I wonder what it could indicate or what could possibly be done...

Flavanoids help alot... do you get them in your diet?

I don't take any medication or drugs, and I'm not vegetarian or vegan. I don't eat much meat, usually chicken if anything, but I don't have a problem with red meat. I've always bruised easily and have had my iron levels checked in the past, but they're normal(ish).

For flavonoids should I be eating citrus and green tea and suchlike?

yeah... but assessing yourself (the individual) is really the key IMO.

(I'd stick to quality water with a pinch of unrefined sea salt per liter over tea)

Thanks for the responses, Mark, just not sure what you mean by " but assessing yourself (the individual) is really the key IMO" - assessing which thing about me?

Some people bruises show more than others.
We all hurt, some people show it more.

Some people certainly do bruise easier.

The individual is different. How the body functions is dependant on what fuel and nutrients etc it gets. Everyones fuel mix and nutrient demands vary.

Symptoms can often be caused from opposite reasons in different people.

I don't believe in treating (covering up symptoms) I believe in balancing the body to allow it to do its thing.

Assessing the bodies needs for that body is what I think should be the foundation of anything.

Thanks guys, that's good to know. It's certainly never done me any harm, but it isn't pretty. Maybe I'll consult a nutritionist if it becomes a problem - thanks :)

I bruise insanely easily too, often when the "injury" doesn't hurt very much at all. I'm very pale though, which might be part of why it shows up so much, but other than that I'm not sure what the reason is, thought I've heard lots of different theories about vitamin/mineral defficiencies and also asthma medication etc as potential causes.

Some info here though: http://alternative-medicine-and-health.com/conditions/bruising.htm and also lots of other links on google.

Thanks for that link, Bellatrix - I probably don't get nearly enough vitamin C and I'll see about Quercetin as well, getting a bit tired of constantly looking like I've taken a complete kicking, when usually I've only had a bit of a kicking ;)
