I just heard that Lilly....Benny (The Jet) Urquidez sister passed away this last Sat. She was a good friend of mine and I was miss her. The service will be this Thur. or Fri.
This is Lilly in the blue shirt....
RIP. A legend and pioneer of women's kickboxing.
I am shocked and saddened. I fought on several of the same events she did way back in the late 70's and early 80's. She was a pioneer in both women's boxing and kickboxing and an inspiration to all athletes in ring combative sports. Rest In Peace Lilly.
She was an incredible athlete as well as a great human being. What happened if I may ask?
Doug
From what I hear is Lilly had a gall stone and had surgery for it, but developed a infection that went to her kidneys then went to the lungs. She was put on life support but her infection was to much for her to over come.
Its just amazing how fragile life can be. It shows us to appreciate our love ones and live life like it were the last day. God Bless Lilly!
NO Way!@!!! OMG I am so bummed, what a great lady she was and always so supportive and kind. I am saddened and shocked!! RIP and God Bless
I'm so sad to hear this. She was truly one of the greats.I have spoken to her many of times at the shows.
Not only was she a great fighter but a great teacher.
She put out some very good fighters.I had always wanted to pay her gym a visit. She had invited me once.
I was just thinking how someone should interveiw her.
My deepest condolence's to her loved ones.
Rest in peace Lilly
I spoke to her quite a bit at the shows and she was a living legend. Once, in Fresno, CA, I had a fighter fight Eric Regan. The promoter told us 165lbs. was the limit, but Regan's trainer insisted on 160 and had a huge fit, yelling, cursing and threatening to pull his fighter out. I was fit to be tied as I had never seen anyone act like such a jerk before in the sport. Lilly actually stood up to his manager and put him in his place. He kept his mouth shut after that and was actually kind of nice. It is too bad that the "new comers" don't know about her impact in the sport. She was definately a pioneer in female boxing/kickboxing and a great loss to humanity.
deepest condolences to the jet and urquidez family. Met and trained with them in van nuys at the Jet centre when she had bridget " baby doll" riley under her wings. Will be sadly missed by all of us.RIP
What a sad news !!!Lilly fought 2 times, here in Holland, against Saskia van Rijswijk and Lucia Rijker. The first time with her husband Blinky in 1982 and 2 years later, she fought together with her legendary brother Benny Urquidez. She's a true legend and pionier in woman kickboxing ! My deepest condolences to her husband Blinky and her family and friends.

Yikes
My mother had gall stones many years ago, but she had them removed with no problems. I didn't know they could be fatal.
