MAGB full contact show feb 11th
MAGB has it's first show of the year, kicking off with Rob 'Diesel' Stevens & Sam Lawlor (B'ham Martial arts) making their pro debut, Qasim 'the dream'Nisar (USKA)& Vicky Ranson (TSKickboxing)contending for British amateur titles.

Qasim is fighting an Irish Fighter, both fighters have an unbeaten record so there is more than just the title at stake, with the girls, its north meets south with Vicky Ranson from TSKickboxing vs Vicky Rae from Dragonfoot K.B.

Diesel is fighting Andy Mann (Cleveland KB) who is WAKO pro North East area champion
Sam Lawlor is fighting Andy Pollard (TSKickboxing)Southern Area Champion

We also have Nick Gill, showing us how the real pro's do it along with a nice undercard of amateurs.

MAGB welcomes coaches Ron Gray, Master Goff, Colin Payne, Peter Foley, Frank Bowen, Cris Jan Piers, Neil Kelly, Alf, 'H' Willock, Jon Green, Trevor Spencer & thanks them for supporting us. It is the quality of your fighters that makes MAGB shows the night of good kickboxing that it is!

I reckon the fight between Diesel and Andy should be a good one to watch, wots the full line up ??

I normally always go 4 Diesel but as Andy is my hometown boy I don't want to call this one, I have seen both fight and think it will be a good one, I see Jamie and Wes on the poster, who are they fighting ?/

Thanks Leif

it's all on the instructors confirmation letter jamie which is sent to the coach.
this comunication should be between fighter & coach the promoter should not be communicating with the fighters directly about this so i won't post it untill you have spoken to your dad!

has anyone got any predictions?

nick gill hasn't fought for a while & the last time martin lamb fought jason vesselo, although he lost, i hear it was a very good fight...

andy mann is wako pro north east area champ, comes from a good camp,(ron gray) diesel (B'ham martial arts)is as yet unbeaten but has only fought amateur, that said he had a cracking fight with wes fagen who is now ranked no 3...

andy pollard from tskickboxing - southern area champ & has double the experience but sam lawlor (b'ham martial arts) is confident enough to step out of amateur & raise his stakes...

qasim nisar, uska, unbeaten, fit, technical but peter foley has a good strong irish camp, can qasim the technition cope with this other unbeaten fighter & quite frankly you only have to look at this guys face to see he is going to be tough!!...

vicky ranson, t s kickboxing - the prettiest baby face who seems to be able to take whatever is thrown at her vs. jon green's northern lass vicky rae with both instructors sounding confident...

colin payne tko has his boy ashley collins coming face to face with neil kelly uska, qasim ali - again 2 good coaches...

cris janson piers novice mat hetherington vs neil kelly's novice adam kiani
....

instructors - time to raise your game!!!

Thats a good fight card, worthy of any venue.

Its hard to predict some of those fights because of the variables involved as you stated in the last post.

Also, 'cause i'm judging, i'm not predicting, but looking forward to seeing the fights.

Make no mistake, there are some fighters of the highest calibre on this show.

wow mark, it's not often we don't get an opinion out of you!!LOL

sorry - only teasing, respect to you, ever the professional, you are quite right, as you are judgeing you can't go in with pre conseptions.

ha how funny...lol id put pics on but brian watches me like a hawk i feel so special.... not to sway any vote but my girl just won second english open title beat 4 girls she is looking strong and only expect the best from trevors camp so will be a good fight, well of course vicky sparring partner is bridie and every body who been in with bridie knows they have never been hit so hard... but the fight is light contact and skill and combinations is the winner not knock out punches... we are buzzing and glad to finaly be a part of dawn and h's shows.... colin fetch the tea al bring the biscuits....av it...lol

Andy Mann is very tough but i have not yet seen him fight a high profile fighter. having watched diesel in the past i think he may win but doubt ver much he will stop him andy takes everything you throw at him..

Good luck to every1 fighting on the show

Jamie Bates

Well youve counted right lol and looking at the records of both quasim the dream and the irish lad i wud say qausim too experinced
magb
Posted: 2007-01-30 16:24:35
peter foley did his research on qasim good & proper - he knew things about qasim that i didn't know!
peter has been an instructor & promoter in ireland for many many years, he hasn't hesitated about his boy fighting qas, when a coach of that experience & reputation agrees a fight, you have to give him some credit, he must be getting his confidence about this match from somewhere....!

ye looking forward to putting a face to the name....ha glad you dont like dirty talk im pants at that unless dirty socks do it for ya...lol only a small circuit EMA i love full contact but my heart will always be in points over last 12 months i raked in 5 british titles na d1 european beating over 30 figheters which was a nice come back to have after being out 6 years mid life crisis i think... but its good for my kids team to see me in action, was a cancer scare that pulled me put of pro before i new it i was so deep into coaching and put them 1st, now is just for fun and loving bump knock and scratch..lol

Tales of the tape on Both Qas and Sean?
magb
Posted: 2007-01-31 11:06:24
hi jon
generally, i am really rubbish at the technical bit so what i do, is ask the printer to send me a jpeg version of the poster.
then 'save as' poster pic to my documents.

when you post on the thread, click on browse & it should list your documents. select the poster pic & click attach (or whatever it says) & it should work.

how impressed am i that i can even try to explain that!

we are all officially old! you need a 16yr old permenantly by the computer to function!!!

we used to do the ema circuit years ago - back then h had alot of kids who fought, funny how things change, he still has alot of kids who train karate but they won't fight for all the tea in china!

the circuit always used to be decent but you would have to get there for 8.00am, que for 2 hrs, pay £10 (that was alot back then!) win a really cheap medal & if you had adults fighting you would be there untill 9 o'clock at night & everyone loved it!

is it still president anne jackson?
always made me smile, she would toddle along with her blue eyeshadow & marks & spencer skirt & blouse, put her very full briefcase in her car & off she would go!!

wow - was she my inspiration as a female promoter!?!

Jamie,

Yeah I have heard of Sammy, I think it will be a great fight, knowing you both so well its goin to be another I don't call.
Sammys dad Alf was a fantastic help to me when I went to the WKA Worlds, his whole club took me in like part of the family and I have even stayed at Sammys house and trained with them.
Please tell them I send my respect.

my apologies mr. bates - of course it will be a pretty fight!!

i like this match because you are both compatable at all levels, even down to the fact that your dads are your coaches! sammy's corner describe him as a 'flamboyant' fighter, which is sometimes difficult to pull off when you are still trandsending from light to full, hence my antisipated description!

its quite a job to find an opponant who fits your ages, physical statistics, & backgrounds so i am very happy with this match. i like to at least attempt to find challenging opponants!

i haven't seen you fight jamie, so i can't comment too much but from what your dad had described, yes, this should be battle (hopefully without blood!!).

joe calzaghe & ritchie woodhall were in the position - in fact to raise money for charity they are having a posh dinner do tomoro night called 'family feud' playing off this scenario because it's quite unusual - we will be having our own little version on the magb show!!

If no one else there to sign the other pair of gloves, why not get Pele to sign 2 pairs and give one away to fighter of the night!
Sure CJP will be ok with that!

articles & fighter photos where sent to local newspapers for the prestige fighters featured on this show in different parts of the country. if you see the article & could bring a copy down with you it would be appreciated.
hopefully they should have all also included a kick 4 cancer mention, so i would like to forward this to rich weston.

many thanks

On paper this is a really good show and a great start to the Full contact calendar year.
So many fights on this card that you can make an argument either way for both of the fighters, Very few forgone conclusions which always make the anticipation that little bit more exciting.
Qasim 'The Dream' Nisar who is contesting the British title against Irish lad Sean Comisky is looking sharper and hitting harder than ever and I would put myself on the line here saying that he could hold his own with ANY fighter Amateur or Pro at 61kg.
By the time we do take him Pro later this year he should have fully grown into the Lightweight division and will be knocking loudly on the door of the top ten.
See anyone that's going at the Emerald, should be a cracker.

Hi Colin, The venue for Jonathan Morris fight was the Light Bar in Wolverhampton. Glass ceiling over a courtyard, really nice.
The Ivor Price fight was a cracker, loads of pre fight hype that for once the fight actually lived up to.

Watching little bit of Quasim.........i have been around a looooooooooooooong time and he is the brightest prospect i have seen in britich full contact for a long time....recon he would make the switch to low kicks well aswell Niel...what do you recon...he has a good solid thai round kick aswell.

I just want to say all the best for everyone fighting tomorrow.

I picked the Irish fighter & his coach Peter Foley up who is looking forward to seeing some of his old friends.

Also the snow - thursday & friday was dreadfull but last night the rain came cleared it all. on the moterway to east midlands airport, the roads were clear everywhere, including the smaller roads which are now ice free!

I have had a 60kg & 70kg novice fighters drop - too late to do anything much now but if anyone who is coming anyway fancies fighting please call me on 07961 4000 93.

god speed for all those travelling from afar & i will see you all later!
thanks
magb

Thanks for that Rich, I would say this but I too think Qasim is the brightest prospect in Amateur Kickboxing right now. What people don't see is the determination and dedication to his art grafting 7 days a week to achieve his goals.
He has so much more to show and I think his Amateur schooling will pay off for him when it is time to go Pro. Who knows, when he has done what he needs to do with the full contact maybe low kicks will beckon, for now though, kicks above the waist is his game.

Dawn, glad you liked the video. Lets hope he is true to form and performs well later tonight so I will have another win to add to his highlight reel.

Best of luck both to Qasim 'The Dream' and the other USKA fighter on the card Qasim Ali in what hopefully God Willing will be successful fights for you.
