Is kcal the same as calories? I heard that for each kcal = 1000calories. But this can't be right can it. If a brioche roll is 127kcal, how would I work out the calories. I am dieting to gain weight and was curious to know how many calories I was actually taking in a day and if I was taking in enough. So if I was to eat something that states on the label what it is in kcals, how would I work out the calories?
Helena, it IS 1Kcal=1000 calories so yes it equals 127,000 calories.
To convert almost anything now, all you have to do is type your query into google, e.g. '127Kcal in calories'
This works for all types of conversions, e.g. you can google '11 stone in pounds', it knows what you're looking for and instead of giving you page results, will just give you the answer (154 pounds in this case).
Kcal is used on EU labeling for nutritional guidelines and Calories in the US...in this instance the capital C means kilocalories so it would not be necessary to convert.
want to gain weight get more anabolic than catabolic-eat well (and quality) and sleep more. :)
