Looks like another stormer for Pele's AKA event.
Thats great buddy.
Hows 120kg Enion doing, he mentioned he was beck in the gym now.
He is not yet fully back in training due to his work commitments in essex but is still doing his best to get back in.
HE WANTS THAT WORLD BELT!!!
Whats wrong with the one he's got?
The new A.K.A. British Title Belt.
The new A.K.A. European Title Belt.
The new A.K.A. World Title Belt.
Maybe these will give him a little encouragement!
he aint getting gerads belt guys(he he)
oh we will see Mr P!!
Paul "the rock, vin diesel" Ennion is a determined gentleman!!
To paraphrase Matt Castle "Oh god hes not back training is he!"
This year will see the "the rock" in top form.
I dont doubt he will add all 4 british, euro, commonwealth and world belts to his record!!
Troopa's bout with 'Butcha' has started something now.
Although not quite in the same league as K-1's 'the flying gentleman'(Bonjesky) or the 'Dutch Lumberjack' (Peter Aerts), its an interesting start.
'The Rock' ( Enion ), tv contracts an all...
My wife stole my shorts and got Troopa stitched into the back.
Look's like I'm stuck with it for ever.
Next everyone will start having their own songs when they enter the ring.
I can just see it now....
Crowds chanting to 'Super Troopa'.....
Paul's allready suggested Abba as a theme song,
but I told him I'd sulk if he did ( LOL ).
Troopa
Can you show up on the day and pay the £30 and also what are the rounds 3x1.5 or 5x1.5?
Hi Raf,
In accordance with the new system that we are using, we require entries to be in advance ( Sunday 18th March for the Altrincham A.K.A. event ) , to guarentee a matchup.
Also, the price is discounted, and only £25.00 when you register in advance using the PAY-PAL system :-
( see http:www.aka-kickboxing.com ).
Once registered, athletes are put into a matchup poole, by weight category.
Instructors are then informed of the matchups and mandatory title defences / challenges should they have a champion competing.
If on the day of the event someone withdraws, then the opponent receives a full refund of their entry fee, ' P L U S ' the entry fee of the person that withdrew!
This format stops last minute withdrawals, and helps compensate those who would be otherwise quite dissapointed. It is a good system, that was introduced as the are now so many people competing on the A.K.A. Kickboxing circuit are from all over the country.
The Senior class, compete over 4x2 mins. K-1 style kickboxing rules, so in the event of a draw an extra round is contested.
Speak with Steve if you are interested in competing. K-Star are always more than welcome!
You can also pay by cheque if you wish. When posting, a chque and entry form needs to arrive by Friday 16th, as we receive no delieveries on a Saturday.

Good luck to everyone who is competing on this event!!
Oh by the way Mr Holden nice belts!!
Thanks Tricia,
Although the credit is mistakingly given to me, what the A.K.A. has achieved is only due to the increasing support of those involved.
Together we are raising the profile of the Amateur game, which in turn should benefit everyone!
Hey guys, checkout what arrived today!
Excellent - dvds are ready!
any news on which foreign players there are this time?
The website has just started registering entries.
We have International entries from France, Holland and Turkey confirmed, with three other countries as possiblilties at this time.
Looks like its going to be a good event!
DVD's have arrived today, very quick this time and great quality - some good bouts on too !!
Thanks for the dvds neil, great quality and as craig says some good bouts, quality is improving every show.
Yeah, I was pretty suprised with the turn-around this time.
Got some great feed back from some of the new gyms that are looking to get on board.
When they received the DVD's they were really impressed!
I will second that. Quicker turnaround and a good quality.
Less than two weeks to go now to the show, and things are looking pretty good.
There will be a few new faces at this show, as there has been a lot of interest from several new schools wishing to join the A.K.A. circuit.
Its gonna be just like the K-1, as there are several from Kyokushinkai competing this time!
Neil,
I am now 16, so can you let me know when the next event at Darlington is and whether you will be able to match me. I am 44/45kg can try to make 47kg tops. lol.
Respect Leif
The Darlington event is being promoted by Craig Willis and Paul Pearson on the 19th May 2007. Venue : Cockerton Band and Social Club.
Entries for that event will start on Monday 26th March 2007 through the website.
You will be more than welcome at the show.
Don't worry about your weight, as we will look to match you accordingly.
------
If you can attend the Altrincham show on the 24th March before hand as a spectator, it could help as you would be able to see the A.K.A. format in action.
Being a sports award winner, I am sure I can twist Pele's arm to give you two complimentary tickets.
Hey Neil, how did the half marathon run go? forgot to ask you.
Well with only a weeks notice and no sports-specific training as such, I was pretty pleased ( pad slammin and sparring ain't exactly distance training ).
Under two hours was my initial aim, and I came in at a respectable 1 hour 48 mins. Cooper came in 2 hours 25 mins.
It was a great day though and the weather was just perfect. There were four of us in total, and between us we raised over £10'000.00 for cancer research!
Just collecting the last of the pennies now...
excellent! how is mr cooper, is he coming to the Altrincham show
Well done on raising the money for charity neil(and the team),thats a excellent ammount of cash.
Hi Neil just back from Thailand. Just a quick one to say that both me and the Higher Level crew will be supporting Pele's A.K.A show as per usual.
Looking forward to the circuit this year after a great start by Dave and his team in Leigh.
Will be submiting my entries by sunday at the latest bud
Oh by the way Neil great write up on Graham in fighters magazine.
Oh by the way Neil great write up on Graham in fighters magazine.
Thats great Lee.
I wasn't sure how your team would be following the Thailand trip, but if they are raring to go, then great.
See you soon!
thanks for the comments Lee - good to hear your team will be attending.
The circuit is getting stronger and busier all the time!
no probs bud!
I agree Dave, keepin my students active is a must for me and with more and more clubs taking an interest in the A.K.A. the standards and competition can only get stronger an better.
Good news regarding keeping active.....
The A.K.A. circuit is currently examining the options of expanding the circuit to 10 events per season!
Running on a monthly basis from February to November. This could possibly happen for season 4, in 2008.
Being able to compete upto ten times per year would really bring our amateurs in the U.K. to another level!
Current Entries as at Monday 19th...

On the day there was a total of six title bouts, and FIVE were title defences!
Additionally, this was Lee's second World Title defence, and Graham Sayers third!
Robbie Newton, was again very impressive with the defence of his European strap!
Lots of people have spoken to me about the Ladies British Featherweight Title defence, between defending Champion - Paige Farrington ( Warrington Kickboxing ) and Challenger -Beth Cordingly ( Altrincham ).
This was a great contest, with both showing superb ringcraft thoughout. A cracking bout from start to finish, that I hope to have online for everyone over the next few weeks.

Paige is one of the best boxers ive seen for a long time, well done to her mark and the team.cum on neil find that picture!.
Loadsa credit too, for Beth Cordingly.
I have seen her really improve over the last year or so. Consistently putting in better and better performances.
Within our game, if you get two well matched players, they compliment each other.
That is what you saw here, some great exchanges, various tactics and techniques cleanly employed.
It was the sort of contest where both would feel that they learned a lot from the bout. I would imagine that the match will have taken them both to another level, in both confidence and experience.
I know I would love to see the pair match again. Currently things are pretty exciting within the ladies featherweight division for A.K.A. Kickboxing.
It is teaming with talent, and great potential matches and re-matches!
Cheers Paul much appreciated comments!
Yeah I was looking forward to getting a few rounds under my belt after thailand. I was saying to Neil I couldn of taken my time any more than I did.

... and inside...
Great articles Neil well done.
well done to all at AKA!
looks like the organisation is going from strength to strength, how many other bodies can boast such a record of continued growth, title defences and a structured rule system which all shows are scored by!
its easy to critisise the amatuer status but british thaiboxing could learn alot here.
i wonder how much of the profit goes into individuals back pocketts?
their always seems to be a lot going to charity.
keep up the excellent work.
Excellent promotion, this is what our sport needs.
Well done.
Congratulations Neil...nice to see the amateur game get some well-deserved recognition at last, with some of the bigger names in UK thai/kick boxing getting onboard.
Look forward to seeing some of these guys at the Darlington event in May. Ive been on the circuit 18 months now and have to say the Darlington one has had the best atmosphere so far...Im sure this next ones going to be a sell-out too!!!
