Training Outwith Class
Just started out in Muay Thai with SMTC and looking for some tips on what exercises i could do outwith my classes.
I go twice a week and go running Monday to Friday from 5:30-6:30am
I have some free weights at home which i can use and also a Treadmill/Bike and Multi-gym at parents.
Any ideas would be much appreciated

Hi David, a lot depends on your current fitness and what you are trying to achieve, running is always good.
Run long distance after a nice warm up if you are focusing on loosing weight.
If you are interested in improving your stamina, run intervals: warm up a few seconds sprint, slow run, sprint run etc.
There are already a few threads on all of this, just browse around and welcome to the family.
Cheers mate
I would say i am slightly unfit but working on it at the moment. Dont need too lose too much weight just round the gut and looking too tone up. I guess im looking for an overall gain in Stamina and small fat loss.
I only just read your profile; sounds to me like you want to do some easy runs to start off with, don't be in a rush wanting to get fit all at once, muay thai places a lot of stress on the joints, so you need to take it easy and gradually build up, if you run twice a week and train also about 2 times, you are doing good. Take plenty of rest and try and work on different areas as you go.
good luck
Thanks for your advice mate, i have another question if you can help.
Should i keep my running away from the days i have my training?
generally yes or at least to start off with, as you improve you will find that running is complementary to the training, if you get really serious most people run first then train, but since most people have jobs and have limited time, they tend to run mornings and train evenings.....all that will come with time, at the moment, just go with what your body tells you and most importantly ASK YOUR TRAINER, better than any forums he/she will be able to asses and direct you.
