You're body is talking and taking something for a symptom (to stop the talk) will never let you hear what it is saying.

I would suggest re-looking at health.

If there was a possible emotional contributer I would ask what, if anything, stressful or difficult was going on 3 years ago (before/around/when it started)
Possibly was waking up at that time to a day you looked forward to (just a thought/guess)

From the physical physical stand point my guess would be hormones might be out of wack (treating with hormones would be treating symptoms and not the cause). I am really only guessing with hormones but I think a good direction to look.

You don't eat a low fat diet I hope.

I think it is very possible. Stress in the body over flows into different areas.

For example if you break your leg there will be a stress over flow in your limbic system and immune system etc

Stress from lifestyle, food, sleep etc will effect mental, emotional and hormonal health.

Financial stress etc effects all.

When put in a sympathetic state (stress state or fight or flight) the body turns down rest, recovery, repair and turns up hormones and functions needed for fight or flight.

ANY kind of stress effects the whole body. relationship, over training etc

So if you had to run from a lion the stress response would be more important in that moment than an immune response.

What that means is when over stressed the body will prepare for fight or flight over working on cancer cells etc (we all deal with cancer every day - cancer is a SYMPTOM not a cause in many cases in my opinion)

So stress hormones take priority in the body over rest, recovery, repair and sex hormones etc.

It is more important to run from the lion than manage cancer in the body.

We live in a very high stressed society and are in stress over load much of the time.

The air we breath, (and how we breath - mouth breathing promoted a stress response and nose breathing promotes a rest/recovery response - children under about 6 that have not been traumatized will naturally belly breath, rest/recovery, most of us chest breath, promoting stress response), food we eat, water we drink, go go go life style, over exercise, financial stress, relationship stress, long hours of light and artificial light at wrong time etc etc all promotes a stress response (cortisol release for example)

People who eat a low fat diet are fucked (everyones dietary need for fat is different of course) cause fat is basically where we get the building blocks for hormones.

Now stress hormones are first priority.

-So if hormones are made from fat.
-We eat low fat (telling 'God' or 'Mother Nature' they don't know what the fuck they are doing)
-Over stressed
-Stress hormones get first priority!
-the little fat eaten goes to make stress hormones
-not enough to make rest and recovery AND sex hormones (it is amazing the figures of couples that can't get pregnant - kid prob wouldn't be healthy - or that have no drive or can't get it up etc

I don't know if you thing is because of hormones but there is no way, whatever the cause, that it wouldn't effect hormones.

In our society there are very few people with balanced stress/recovery levels.
Feeling stress free is a lack of sensitivity to the body.

If we constantly live in stress it is normal. Experiencing different places is the only way to experience the differences.

It is all relative of course and I have no idea your situation or details.

Just some thoughts ;)

I would consider what may have been going on (maybe on a deeper level) 3 years ago.

The doctor is your best bet but heres a couple of ideas.
Dehydration often feels like a bit of a hangover- its the bodys inability to run the khrebs cycle, if you sweat alot at night mabey try drinking a couple of cups of water before bed.
Stress or a dose of gastric or antibiotics can kill off alot of your gut bacteria leaving you unable to propperly digest your food and if the bacteria is not replaced (probiotics) it can lead to long term vitamin and mineral deficiencies, decreased tolerance for some foods and a buid-up of digestive chemicals that cant leave the system. And a bad does of gastro or 3months of high stress could have knocked your gut flora so bad it may not recover on its own even 3yrs later.
A trip to the dentist could help too. No slur on your breath or dental hygiene :) but a build up of plaque and mouth germs heads down to your stomach and if its not supposed to be there ie. gingivitus bacteria in the stomach the body will try to reject it ie. puke.
Another one to look at is food intolerances. Thats Mark L.s specialty so he would know more about that.
Just a few ideas. Hope you get it sorted 3yrs is a long time to feel like crap every morning.

My belief, to separate the physical body (they can never be separated), is to cover the basics.

Water alone could make a huge difference. It is amazing the effects it has on the body. "The Body's Many Cries For Water" or "You're Not Sick, You're Thirsty" give you the basics of how essential to health water is.

The Western approach seems to try to separate everything.

A couple things on dehydration.

The body makes choices about what is more important to run. Just like stress takes priority over recovery. Certain areas of the body will be more important to send water to than others and the body will scavenge water from one place to take to another.

The protective lining in your stomach is largely made of water. Decrease the lining and you can get ulcers etc.

The alkaline solution made to neutralize stomach acid and your food after digestion is largely made of water. If there isn't enough there the stomach holds onto it for if it let it pass through it would literally burn through.
Acid reflux etc

Arthritis.
The lube in the joints is largely made of water and the cartilage has a water content, as well water is used to flush acid build up out of the joint. Dehydration can likely lead to 'arthritis'.
I have experienced peoples 'arthritis' disappear from starting to get the right amount of water.

Brain function and water are huge. (MS, altz etc

The colon, if you are dehydrated, will squeeze any water it can out of your shit to try to keep hydrated. Not only is this not clean water but it also can lead to many colon related issues.

I am not saying water is a cure all. I am suggesting that untill you cover the basics its pretty crazy to start treating with drugs or other things.

Water is just one of the basics.

Dehydration is stress too and that effects all.

Stomach flora health is huge also. Chlorinated will also help to kill off bacteria as well as drugs and antibiotics etc and I am a believer in probiotics also.

Teeth and dental is huge in my opinion. I also believe that western dentistry causes a lot of problems.

Foods intolerances are huge also (let me guess - your lower stomach pouches out?). Digestive health effects the brain pretty much directly (seratonin levels in the gut will be the same levels in your brain. Also any digestive issues limit your ability to take in nutrients, building blocks and energy from foods etc

Root canals and cavities are scary how most dentists do IMO. Some European researchers believe that modern dental practices are a huge cause of diseases these days.

In terms of mornings being sick related to life. Was there anything three years ago, and or to present, that makes you not want to get out of bed or that makes you 'sick' thinking about the day.

Many many things... always makes sense to me to start with the basics.

Water -.5oz per lbs of body weight daily (pinch unprocessed sea salt per liter)
protein every meal
don't skip breaky
no gluten

there is way more of course but if the US alone did this... well they might not vote in people who like to kill so much
